Beyond disappointing experience from this morning's coffee run. Walked into this bustling Starbucks earlier and an elderly homeless woman queued the line behind me. I noticed myself and people ahead of me in the line began to find the odor of the woman behind me to be unpleasant, but she was minding her own business and patiently waiting for her turn in line. As I was waiting with still a few people ahead of me, an employee walked out from behind the counter and proceeded to very loudly call the attention of the woman behind me. He demanded that she would need to leave the store without being served and did not offer her any time or assistance otherwise. The woman responded by holding up her own Starbucks card to show that she was a paying customer and he very dismissively said, “You need to leave.” His voice carried through the shop, calling most attention of the other customers and the woman proceeded to walk as an 80+ year old woman would outside to exit. A few customers exchanged looks and a young man who had been in line followed the woman out to ask her what he could get her. He came back in, queued the back of the line and those of us who were still at the front of the line told him to go ahead to serve the woman waiting outside first. A few customers individually purchased something for the woman to eat/drink and the woman graciously said thank you and replied with a warm holiday greeting. I don't know where to begin with what makes me angry about this situation. It being the holidays? Or a cold winter morning? Or the fact that she was a paying customer? Or an elderly woman? Or how about the simple fact that she was another human being who was minding her own business. The complete lack of compassion and sensitivity on behalf of this employee is ridiculous. And having worked in the corporate/franchise food industry I know for a fact that there is always a way to give a little extra. So here's my review: lose the lamo hipster image and show some empathy to fellow human beings.

Normally I don't do this but I went in today to this Starbucks and had the most awkward service ever. There's was this chubby, dark mixed guy working (it was at 5p), and he said he will be right with me, I waited and waited and waited, and he walked back and forth numerous times, there was this girl working the bar (black girl), as she was walking over to the food bar she greeted me, and he said something to her but I guess she couldn't take my order either because she had to take care of something “personal” don't know. So I wait and the guy seemed like he didn't want to take my order so he punched in something on the computer and I waited thinking he was goin to help me, after 30 seconds of him doing “something” on one of the registers he walks over to the end of the bar to proceed to put in coffee beans in the grinding thing I assume, so I was like I guess no one will take my order then, feeling dumb and upset after waiting 3 4 minutes to be helped I just walked out. Totally rude, and awkward he seemed, like whatever. However he felt I don't care, I just wanted to be helped and oh for my order, the guy was (the on I mentioned in the beginning) and the girl too for just walking off. Never going back again, and don't recommend this place at all!!

—NO STARS— The drive thru line is always long and the wait times are horrendous. I used to come here daily until I had enough of it. I only come to this particular one when the others are closed. Last week I came in the drive thru, they didn't put espresso in my venti latte. It tasted like steamed milk. Tonight we waited in drive thru for 20+ minutes for four drinks.***UPDATE*** Been going to a different location for coffee. Made a quick stop to get 3 lattes and sausage cheddar today. This time the lattes were good, except for the fact that it smelled of strong perfume/lotion when I sipped it. Had to remove the lid, even after that-the paper cup still smelled of the fragrance. BEWARE if you're sensitive to scents/fragrances. Obviously Starbucks doesn't care because look at all these bad reviews! Maybe I'll delete the Starbucks app.

So, full disclosure, Ive never been to this Starbucks. Ive never even been to California. But I do know that Sabrina Belt needs to sit the hell down. The barista whom Sabrina Belt was interacting with speaks English as a second language. He did not know what a vegan was, but STILL checked with her to make sure she liked the beverage, and then offered to correct their error while trying to make light of the situation because he knew she didnt have a medical problem, just a preference. Instead of being a decent human being and laughing about a completely understandable lost in translation situation and treating it as a learning opportunity for all, Sabrina decided to be an entitled little twatwaffle about it. Not only that, but she couldnt even keep her twatwafflery between her and this poor barista. Oh no. She went out of her way to publish this review and try to paint this Starbucks as some kind of anti-vegan conspiracy. And the ultimate irony? Even if the drink had been made with almond milk, guess what? MATCHA POWDER ISNT EVEN VEGAN. So in addition to being a self-absorbed garbage human, she cant even be bothered to educate herself about her own dietary choices. So Im just here to say, as someone who was vegetarian for twelve years and vegan for three, and a Starbucks partner for five years, Sabrina? Get all the way over yourself. Youre not vegan because you care about anything real. Youre vegan because you think its trendy to say Im vegan and use that as an excuse to treat other people like dirt for not perfectly conforming to your specifications. Youre a virtue-signaling fraud, and an idiot, and most likely xenophobic too. Stick that in your almond milk and chug it.

Came here on a Friday afternoon and stayed until around 8:30 at night, ordered a few drinks throughout the time I was there so I think I got a good feeling of the place. The staff there were all very kind and quick. I believe one of the managers was very on top of keeping the place clean and organized; He was constantly walking around and tidying things up, keeping the curtains closed when the sun was shining in peoples faces and opening them back up when it grew dark. He also swept stuff up and clean tables more often than Ive usually seen. That said, the whole place was very clean. The three or four baristas I encountered when ordering drinks were kind and had an upbeat attitude. The last one even put a little heart in my latte; That made me smile.Lastly, the atmosphere here was nice, nicer than the one just down the street on Alhambra. This one was very quiet, most people here were alone and on laptops (and not Macs, which for no real reason, I like). It wasnt dead empty, but there werent too many people that it felt crowded. The tall ceiling here might help with that. One more thing actually, the music here was pretty nice too! It was, as I guess I would put it, trendy without sounding bad? Things like a Coldplay cover and some subtle electronic songs appealed to me quite a bit. Theyre different, but not so different that you dont want to listen to them. But more interesting than generic classical music.I certainly like this Starbucks and I feel Ill drive downtown regularly just to sit here for a while. Speaking of driving, theres also free 2 hour street parking on N street, one block west. Id suggest those spots over the paid ones in front of the Starbucks. There were quite a few places open when I parked, too.

Reviewing a Starbucks is kind of silly. They sell coffee. They are the ones that sell coffee without naming everything Mc. They treat their employees far better than most in food service, even paying for a 4-year college degree for someone on a minimum wage job. But the bottom line is they sell coffee, and they price that coffee hi because theyre selling their atmosphere not just coffee. When it comes to atmosphere, Starbucks 30 years ago was much better than Starbucks today. They are no longer a third place. They are a big Lobby with lots of coffee and not much else interesting, very different from 1990 when they were introducing new blues artists and coming up with coffees that were branded to fit with the album. Also very different from 1990 where they sold top tier espresso equipment for home, grinders, and all sorts of interesting doodads to help people make their own. They graduated from that to crappie pod-based devices and then got out of the business altogether. I enjoyed the Starbucks of 1990 far more than I enjoy Starbucks today.

I dont usually leave reviews unless its to compliment small businesses. But this time I just had to say something. Ive only been to this location a handful of times since I work nearby and rarely get Starbucks on any occasion. But whenever I do have that rare craving, this location always seems to disappoint. Three weeks in a row, all on Sundays, Ive had my drinks made wrong. I dont know if its because the barristas cant read their own abbreviations on the cups or in the system but I ordered coffee blended Frappuccinos and always got caramel Frappuccinos, which is way off. I even got a coffee frap with caramel and whipped cream in it when I never asked for it. And then when I actually ordered a caramel frap for a coworker and a coffee frap for me, they made two coffee fraps instead even though the caramel frap had customized instructions for extra caramel and stuff like that on the cup. I get that Sundays are busy but Id rather theyd slow down and actually read my order rather then rush through it and get it wrong so many times.

This morning, my husband and I were looking forward to our weekend morning ritual of enjoying a tall coffee together. Due to my husbands minimal allowed daily fluid intake, this small indulgence is always a highlight for him. We ordered a 12oz tall coffee and brought our refillable hot cup. However, as we left the area, my husband removed the lid; we were surprised to find not quite 8oz of coffee inside instead of the 12oz we had paid for. While this might seem like a minor issue to some, it disappointed us. We understand that mistakes happen, but for us, it felt like the beginning of the end of what had become a cherished weekend morning routine, given we live 20-plus miles from this Starbucks. Sure, we could have driven back and had them fill it to 12oz, but instead, we decided to find a new destination brew spot for next weekends drive.

Review for this specific location on 5/13/22!!!I encourage you to read your reviews because many people are leaving the same feedback as I am... I came here a few days ago and ordered a caramel frapp, I drove off before realizing it was mocha and had no caramel. (I dont like chocolate.) Accidents happen, no biggie, so I came back today on my work break and ordered a caramel frapp again. I asked if theyd be willing to comp it for free because last time it was wrong. The supervisor came out (kinda heavy-set blonde girl I believe) & she literally argued with me several times, telling me she knows how to make the drinks. My point was, I didnt like it, I didnt drink it, can you please make me a new one at no charge. Its big corporation Starbucks yall.... they can let go of a $5 coffee to make things right. I ended up paying for the coffee, & while I was still talking, the supervisor shut the drive through window in my face and walked away. I was shocked, she has no business being in any type of customer service. There are 2 other locations down the street, so I wont be coming back strictly based on how incredibly rude and argumentative that supervisor is. Who promoted that miserable, angry human!? Yikes.
