Pivot Coffee
1430 28th St, Sacramento, CA 95816, United States
Lets get this out of the way first. The coffee is good and I enjoyed my daily walks to Identity . Keyword... enjoyed. My coworkers and I look forward to taking a break from the chaos that is work by taking a stroll down to Identity and picking up a delicious cup of coffee. Again, I did enjoy their product. However, what I witnessed from the individual that identified himself as the owner of Identity was appalling and disheartening. A 2nd coworker had accompanied us on the walk and went to her preferred coffee spot prior to meeting up with us (We asked her to meet us at Identity). While I was paying for my coffee and 2 bags of beans (a weekly pricey routine), I could hear an individual launching into a tirade directed at my coworker who had just walked in. Although I didnt get the entire interaction, what I did here was You are what is wrong with America directed at my coworker, who embarrassed and shocked promptly left the establishment. As I waited in the uncomfortable and tense silence of the shop with my other coworker waiting for her drink (had about 8 customers inside), I would come to find out that the owner was not happy that my colleague was holding a competitors coffee while in HIS shop. Instead of politely asking her to not bring outside drinks in, he chose to take the vile route and attacked her verbally and questioned her character as a person. He clamored that THEY could make a drink better than hers. This interaction made other customers and his own employees uncomfortable, and made me feel guilty for having asked my coworker to meet us at the establishment. While my coworker, embarrassed and mortified, waited for us outside, a customer that had witnessed the altercation came to apologize to her. Something this individual did not need to do but felt compelled to (kindheartedness still exists).Im not one that typically writes reviews (here I am writing one at midnight), however this incident troubled me profoundly. The establishment has now lost multiple customers. Something that is unfortunate, considering the difficult times we are in.I will chose to patronize a local shop that shows respect for the members of the community it serves.

Anchor & Tree Coffee Roasting Co
1412 16th St, Sacramento, CA 95814, United States
As I get older, I find joy in maximizing productivity in my life. However, with doing so, I have to be real intentional about making sure that I designate time to connect with friends. Therefore, when I saw that a new coffee shop (that happens to be woman-owned…yay!) opened in the downtown area, I reached out to a close friend of mine to see if she was available to catch up over a cup of Jane. Prior to meeting up, my friend informed me that she (a coffee connoisseur) did some research and saw that the shop uses an eco- friendly electric roasting machine…her excitement definitely rubbed off on me!Upon arrival we were greeted by two friendly employees that were serving a large party. When it was our turn, both employees were patient as we perused the many options on the “specials” menu. Based on a recommendation, I chose to order the Hippie Speedball Latte which contains 10mg of CBD.I'm not by any means a coffee connoisseur, which often leads to me chugging a cup of coffee just to reap the benefits of the caffeine. However, the flavor of the coffee was so rich and flavorful, that I sipped it slow to make it last (similar to how I would sip a delicious margarita). As a warning for folks that may be sensitive to CBD, you will definitely feel the effects! Halfway through the cup, I felt so relaxed that I could have curled up within the wicker egg chair and taken a nap.I enjoyed the simplistic, hippie vibes of Anchor and Tree Coffee Roasting, I'm already looking forward to my next visit so that I can try the Galactic Sauce Latte!

BOBER TEA & COFFEE
6900 65th St Suite 2, Sacramento, CA 95823, United States
I am a customer & a doordasher of Bober. After today I will no long support. My girlfriend went inside. Only customer in the store. There was 2 employees, the The feminine boy & a girl . They were just laughing. Both saw she was standing there. (4mins)No acknowledgement. Until another customer comes in Behind her!!! &the boy asked “doordash pick up?” Looking right past my her! Then the girl finally says “for pick pick up or order” super rude. Then my gf stated “waiting to order “ then she replied again in a rude tone “you can't order here you have to order there” pointing at the kiosk. Normally we order online & then pick up. This is our first experience in person ordering. When the drinks were finally done the boy set the drinks down. Called her name& walked away from the front counter quickly. On top of that it wasn't even the complete order. We ordered a doughnut, when she told him he responded “oh you did!?!” Sarcastically. My girl is very sweet/ well mannered person. So I called to ask when a manager comes in. To which she said “is there something I can help you with?” When I said no & Insisted what time the manager comes in. She hung up. And when I tried to call again it went straight to voicemail. Which leads me to believe she blocked my number and that is very unprofessional. Train your staff better on customer service. Looks like this isn't the first complaint about it.

Temple Coffee Roasters
2200 K St, Sacramento, CA 95816, United States
I was a coffee club member and usually order my coffee filters through the club but forgot so went to the K Street store to purchase. Got a dry latte with my filters; as others comment, their coffee drinks are weak and my latte tasted like warm milk. However, their beans are good (and expensive) and make a nice cup of coffee at home. After purchasing the coffee filters I found they were contaminated with some kind of fragrance (or chemical?). Since I have a coffee subscription I notified customer service via email. To make a very long story short, Temple took no responsibility for their contaminated filters, and wouldnt replace them. My coffee subscription consists of regular deliveries of two coffees, one being the single origin roasters choice ($36/lb). I had the subscription for years and received one of their standard, cheaper coffees on several occasions for the roasters choice. On my last delivery I got one of their standard cheaper coffees once again so I cancelled and told they why. Never a response or apology for the overcharges or bad coffee filters. I will never patronize Temple coffee again, including purchasing beans at my local Nuggett market where Temple coffee is 20% cheaper. Sacramento has many good coffee roasters; no need to get Temple where it seems they are doing you a favor.

Chocolate Fish Coffee Roasters
4749 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819, United States
We ordered Avo toast (one piece of bread) with the works and Almond butter toast (one piece of bread) and two coffees. We paid $27.23 and $31 with gratuity. The bread was barely toasted, the thin layer of “smashed” avocado was barely noticeable, and the flavor was bland. We were over charged $2 for the almond butter toast. The cashier apologized told us to talk to the manager with the “pink hair” for a refund. When we were ready to leave, we went to the manager with the pink hair and asked for our refund. So began the fiasco. The manager had to find the actual order on the register which she had a very hard time doing and only after asking us what we ordered, what time we ordered, and the actual amount we paid. She finally found the order and we saw it on the register. However, she then asked us for the last four digits of the credit card number we used. We gave her the number and she says it's not the credit card used for the order. Mind you, we went to Chase website, pulled up the transaction on our actual credit card statement, and tried to show it to her. That wasn't good enough! She claimed she had a different credit card number on the order. What kind of stupidity is this?? It's $2, she's looking at the actual order on the register, it's already posted to our credit card, I'm holding and trying to give her the credit card we used, and the employee who rang us up is sitting 10 feet away “on her break!” Yet, the manager says she can't issue the credit back to our card because the last four digits somehow don't match. The encounter was ridiculous for no reason other than piss poor service and failure to use common sense. She offered us a gift card for $2, which we declined, since we have no intention of returning to a place that overcharges then refuses to correct their mistake. We left without getting our refund. There are too many great coffee shops in Sacramento to bother with nonsense from a place that serves sub par food, okay coffee, and has horrible customer service.

Scorpio Coffee
1905 16th St, Sacramento, CA 95811, United States
My main reason for leaving a review is how much I love their Ochazuke. I keep coming back in just for this dish. It's so fresh, balanced and has the perfect toppings and garnishes to finish off the flavors. I hope they never take it off the menu ?Their coffee is also good quality and reliable. It's consistently made really well by the baristas.I'm also really impressed by their matcha. It's good quality and again, made with attention to detail without clumps. The only downside is I wish they served almond milk because I really don't enjoy matcha with oat milk. That's the only reason I tend to go elsewhere for matcha. The interior is really clean and modern with wooden touches. The seating is not comfortable so it keeps the atmosphere feeling more sterile and less welcoming. But I really appreciate how neat things are in the cafe and how clean they are kept. That's important to me and again makes Scorpio stand out over other coffee shops.Overall, I'm really happy Scorpio exists in Sacramento. I can tell they care about quality and that's hard to come by. It's a gem of a coffee shop.

Temple Coffee Roasters

Ambiance is a 5 star!Vibe is a 5 star!Seating is a 5 star!ParkingI had came here on a tuesday morning, and parking wasnt too hard to find. I had parked a block away which was in front of someones house. The parking here can be a challenge, but its worth it if your planning to come here to study or just hangout.OutsideIts hidden behind the wine place. The exterior is really nice! loved all the small details such as the plants and wooden exterior. Loved how the address number is crooked which gave it a different character to the building. There are plant of seating in the patio. Lots of community long tables! Perfect for studying or just write reviews! Nice and quiet but with some noise in the background too. Comfortable tables and seats. The only con i found for the outdoor seating is maybe the lack of electric outlets. Like my computer was dying and i had no where to plug it in to recharge.InsideInside is neat as well. There are some comfy couches for you to lounge around. Also plenty of small tables to study in the indoors. I would take advantage of the indoor environment when the weather gets a bit yuckier but for now outdoor is the perfect vibe and environment to hangout at.Coffeeice drip - i got the ice drip since that is what my brother recommend me to get. For a large size its $2.70. When you decide to get a refill its $1.95. I like it but i dont love it, because its a bit water down but it was different. Less strong but it does the job. Since it is water down i can drink this black but if it was more strong then i would have to mix it with milk.ServiceThe baristas who served me today are friendly and sure are chatty to see hows your day is going. Great on giving me info on what brew i am ordering, so thats a plus. Friendly service and helpful.i will be back to try the other drinks and maybe a nice fancy latte next.

Shift Coffee House
1616 Del Paso Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815, United States
Today I enjoyed my first visit to Shift. WOW! Crunchy. Cheesy. Ooey. Gooey. Greasy. Buttery. Decadent Perfection! In. Every. Bite! This is easily my new favorite spot! I ate the Da Philly and to splurge also got the Sweet Cheesus (? love the name!) and they were worth every penny! Im going to have to try the whole menu! ?I make fancy grilled cheese at home all the time but OMG they take it to another level! The brisket was soft, tender, smokey combined with the veggies and cheese that enfolded everything in its loving embrace between two perfectly buttery golden brown pieces of sourdough such gloriously decadent heaven! And I havent even gotten to dessert! The Sweet Cheesus is everything above with sweet added in and even more decadent! What a glorious food experience! They are grilled cheese masters, magicians and artisans worthy of their reputation! If youre in a rush and need your food to be ready in under 5 minutes go somewhere else. This is slow food, a place where everything is carefully handcrafted with care and Love and such Perfection cannot be rushed! I am looking forward to being able to enjoy dining in again and enjoy the lovely ambiance, a place to luxuriate on a lazy Sunday with nothing to do and nowhere to go...a place to savor and mindfully enjoy every magnificent bite of my food!

Camellia Coffee Roasters
1200 R St Suite 130, Sacramento, CA 95811, United States
Full disclosure: Im friends with one of the founders but my review is still bias-free.Cortado ReviewThe Pour:Very good, tasty. They had Ethiopian beans for their espresso drinks and they use the Strauss barista blend (yay!)Service:Baristas were very friendly and happy to talk about their craft. One of Sacramentos premier baristas (Alfonso P) works here now. Do yourself a favor and come by when hes on bar.Ambiance:Clean and modern, a mix of modern and hipster. Its located in the WAL building on R Street, so kind of in the middle of Hipster Central. Next to a barber shop. You know what Im talking about. Conclusion:A great new entry in Sacramentos growing roster of craft coffee shops. Ive only been a couple of times, but it will no doubt be receiving its 5th star soon, along with my other two favorite shops (Insight @ 8th St and Identity Coffee). Check it out for sure.About Me / Review Criteria:-I only check out / review Third Wave/artisanal/craft coffee shops-Nobody gets more than 4 stars until Ive gone several times-Reviews cant be based on just a select group of baristas, they all have to be equally skilled, or at least must all have a minimum level of skill-My star ratings are solely based on the drink, never on food, ambiance, or if the barista is emo or snobby (because that would bring down more than 50% of the shops), although I do mention those in the review-I dont claim to be a trained coffee connoisseur-My reviews are generally based on gibraltar/cortados (or cappuccinos), not espresso or drip/pourover coffee

Blueprint Coffee Project
1200 2nd St, Sacramento, CA 95814, United States
If there is one thing that Old Sacramento was lacking, it was an above average, family-owned and operated coffee shop. There was only one place within walking distance and that was none other than Steamers. But here in Sacramento, we like our varieties. After I saw a consistent number of my Yelp friends checking in and raving about this place, I had to see (and of course, taste) what the big fuss was all about. This takes me to Blueprint Coffee Project.Located at the tail end of Old Sacramento directly on 2nd Street, Blueprint Coffee opened its doors during the fall of 2020, right in the heart of the COVID-19 pandemic which was a gutsy move for many new businesses that are just trying to get things rolling. However, since I do not come out here very often, I finally made the trip on the morning of Sunday, July 18, 2021 at around 11:45am. As expected (on any given weekend day), parking is non-existent out here no matter what time of day it is. I had to park at least 1/4 mile away but luckily this was before the heat kicked in.Once I arrived, I was amazed with the size of this place. Bright, open, cheerful, lively, and absolutely spacious, this place utilized and maximized their square footage available to its full potential. The main ordering area is simple with only a few drinks to choose from. But the other half of the building has a lounge area with comfy sofas, modern chairs, and a perfect backdrop that is very Instagram-worthy.Since this was my first time here, I went with a simple Iced Vanilla Latte priced at around $4.50 + tax. Keep in mind, their menu is very basic by only offering drop coffee, lattes, mochas, and tea. And to those that have been to Mast Coffee off of Broadway, they are part of the same ownership. Nothing out of the ordinary but sometimes, simpler is better. During my visit, they didnt really have any food with the exception of a few select donuts. Perhaps in the future, they may expand their menu with pastries and sandwiches but I am perfectly okay with their focus on drinks only. One interesting thing about this place is that it shares the same building as Project Church which also has the same owners as Blueprint. During my visit while enjoying my drink, a crowd of churchgoers arrived after the 11:00am session. As I mentioned, the space is utilized very conveniently for a large gathering and I am so happy Old Sacramento is giving customers as well as out-of-towners options. With that said and done, I am giving Blueprint Coffee Project an above average four-star rating.
