Peets Coffee
3905 State St r2, Santa Barbara, CA 93105, United States
This review is specifically for Marilyn (I think is her name. She has long brown hair and is in her early 20s). I was having issues with the Peets app and connectivity and wanted to redeem some points and a coupon I had. Marilyn tried to help me but I had no reception, so she helped me out with redemption on my drink. The manager (I think) with glasses overheard me talking about it to my friend and asked me what had happened, then went over and spoke to Marilyn about it like she shouldn't have done that. What's so sad is that Marilyn did a great job, helped me out and I would have definitely stopped by this Peets when I pass through SB again. But the manager (or lead, whoever she was) listening in to my conversation and then talking to Marilyn about the situation made me feel what she did was wrong, when she was trying to make it right. Please give Marilyn a shout out and a raise. She's great!

Was going knock them a point again but will leave as it is. Go for the coffe, not the snacks. Four shot Latte today, taste nice but makes me very sleepyEven the cookies, fantastic when they first appeared, are throw aways when I forget and order one. Very sweet, too sugary and not enough substance. Kids may like them better. Scones, so-so. Other sweet things available. Bagels are nice. Nothing savory offered other than a slice of cheese with a slice of ham in a croissant. I like the Morning Buns... but they are sweet!...........................Hopefully kitchen will reopen with fresh intersting selections soon and coffee return to amazing..........................Older review.Update: Love the food selection, yeah, the kitchen did open!!! Sandwiches, toasts, tarts, occasionally salads with fresh ingredients, farm fresh and great breads. Lotta of other yummy selections with an adaptive menu that changes with the season. Cant get bored here ❤️ Their bread pudding was amazing! Some staff changover but still delicious coffee!............................Consistently great coffee, excellent service and satisfying cappuccinos. Beautiful latte art. Hoping the kitchen will reopen soon, meanwhile baked goods are always good. They roast their own beans and have been offering an array of local gourmet goods from wines to honey and baking supplies. Can be a long lines and hard to find parking depending on the time and day, sometimes they run out of baked goods. But if you time it right the wait is quick and did I say I love their expresso drinks!Extra for oat milk or other alternative milks is something Id like to see phased out. You can get other additions for an extra fee but milks ought to be reflected in the basic cost.Nice ambiance, plenty of tables. And sweetly canine friendly!!!

Was in town for a little bit so we dropped in the try these cute drinks. We ordered the Jupiter Forest, Bela Rose and the Summer Time Ice Tea for our drinks. We also ordered the Avocado Toast and Caprese Panini. Total $53.. The Jupiter Forest drink was nice strong coffee. It had a thin sliced orange that the barista torched in front of us. The Bela Rose was such a subtle but sweet matcha taste served at room temperature and light light ice. The Summer Time Ice Tea was really good and fresh! Every drink was surged with a metal straw too. The avocado toast was packed with a thick layer of avocado, cherry tomatoes sliced in half and vinaigrette that ha the right amount of citrus to bring it out of together. The Caprese Panini had lots of pesto pouring out of it as well as cheese, a thin layer of the Turkey slice and one slice of tomato cut in half. It was pretty good but the bread was hard and kind of hurt the roof of my mouth a couple times when I bit into it..Over super cute trendy place, not crowded at all but just seemed to be entirely too expensive for what we got. I just can't agree with the price.

Coffees | 3/5 | Lattes err on the sweet side. Theyre arent strong coffee drinks, maybe order a different drink or do sweetness adjustment for a real pick-me-up.Iced Honey Lavender Latte - 3.5/5 | Was a little too sweet.Iced Vanilla Latte - 3.5/5 | Also a little too sweet, vanilla was prominent.Service | 4/5 | No complaints here. Average coffee shop service. Their large is only $0.50 more!Ambiance | 4/5 | Its a very trendy coffee shop in the Paseo Nuevo shopping center with deck seating on State Street and benches indoors. If youre looking for the picture worthy drinks that are really done up presentation-wise, dont come to this location. They have two other locations on Haley (3pm close) and Arlington (1pm close, upper State St) that do that. So while I do appreciate that this location closes at 7/8pm and is in the middle of the busiest part of State St, its very much to-go coffee with a basic food menu.

This coffee shop is beautiful, but they do not respect dietary preference or allergy at all. I ordered an avocado toast, which on their menu did not list dairy or explain it came with cheese. I cannot eat dairy. So when the toast came I politely asked if they could make one without cheese since the ingredient wasn't listed and it's not a typical ingredient in this dish so i didn't think to ask. The server was extremely rude, refused my request and told me I'd need to order and pay for a second one. When I asked them if they could just use the toast they made for me for the next customer who ordered one (there was one in line behind me), they refused. Being hungry and in a rush I did what they asked, but paying $20 for three soggy, mediocre toasts was not what I was looking for. This place needs to seriously consider updating their menu to list allergens and also consider updating their staff to people who understand service. As a positive note, the setting was beautiful and the coffee tasted nice. Still, 0/10 would visit this place again.

The dark roast coffee from here was very good! Don't usually write comments but it's one of the best I've had anywhere let alone an airport.

A PLEASANT STAY ! My wife and I hit the road at 1pm on Thursday bound for Santa Barbara. We had booked 3 nights here a few months ago to enjoy a long weekend getaway to celebrate my wifes birthday. In fact we stayed here ( overnight ) once before in Sept, 2020 and it was pretty good. We chose a Casita ( much bigger than a room ) then and a Casita this trip. After a long traffic jammed 3 hour drive we finally arrived here about 4pm. We headed straight to the reception desk after parking our wheels on their private parking lot ( random parking / no pre-paid reserved spots ). WOW ! The same desk clerk as our previous visit....the very helpful Ryan was sitting there to greet us. This trip we didnt bother to bring our eBikes so there was no need to ask Ryan to secure them in their store room overnight ( for safety ). The hotel does offer free cruiser bikes for guests. My wife nailed an upstairs Casita this time...Santa Rosa. A simple fresh cooked breakfast in the hotel dining room is included in the room / casita rates....Ryan gave us 3 coupons for 3 mornings in case we needed them. PROBABLY NOT ! We planned to have breakfast early on Friday at one of our fav places....Jeannines Restaurant & Bakery in Montecito. With no pre-paid reserved parking spots it can become a bit of a turkey shoot to nail a spot on their private lot. If you dont get one then its street parking in a very narrow congested street. WE GOT LUCKY ! So we managed to snag one of the only 3 undercover parking spots ( within view of our upstairs casita ) each with destination charging outlets. Our Casita was quite large though not as well organized as the one we had a couple of years ago....very old small flatscreen TV on the wall and a deafening noisy exhaust fan in the bathroom that came on with the only light. The low to the floor toilet was built for very young children....who needs their knees up around their ears while sitting on the loo. A huge spa bath like last time but this one had only half the jets working. A nice vase full of red roses and a greeting card was a thoughtful touch appreciated by my wife. The king size bed was comfortable enough.....I didnt think much of the shower....2 shower heads and only one worked. We had a small separate kitchen room with a quiet working bar fridge, a small microwave, a Keurig coffee machine and a sink. Certain aspects of this Casita need to be upgraded. Because we were worried about losing our treasured parking spot we took Lyfts to a couple of dinner spots....Buena Onda Empanadas nearby and Himalayan Kitchen in State St. TOP DINNER SPOTS ! The air con in our Casita worked well and the gas fireplace was a warming treasure. We had a big day planned on Saturday....renting eBikes for a long bike ride, lunch, dinner etc so we took a punt on breakfast in the hotel dining room. It is fresh prepared and cooked while you wait but dont expect anything more than simple....quiches, small bowl of fruit, orange juice. There is something they call an espresso machine but when I attempted to use it I was told by Skye the desk clerk it was out of order for the moment. Apparently it is very temperamental and Skye informed a few minutes later it was functioning again. NOT REALLY ! It did dispense something that looked like black oil and then when I hit the touch screen for cream.....there was a mini cyclone of powdered milk dumped on top. After whacking a couple of sachets of sugar in and tasting it....I dumped it ! Straight after our very basic brekkie we headed over to Dune Coffee Roasters for sensational morning lattes...BEST COFFEE IN SANTA BARBARA ! We also had 2 delicious lunches at Lilac Patisserie ( gluten free ) in State St. So each evening I enjoyed a couple of ice cold craft beers on our small patio overlooking the parking lot before we headed out to dinner. The excellent Bettina ( wood-fired pizza ) in Montecito is a dining must ! We are not big fans of corporate hotels so even with the small negatives this place is quite satisfactory. GOOD ENOUGH !
La Playa Inn
116 Castillo St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101, United States
My three-day stay at La Playa Inn hotel was an overall enjoyable experience. The staff members were incredibly friendly and accommodating, despite having to handle difficult situations with some demanding guests. I admired their professionalism and patience. The complimentary breakfast offered a decent variety, including delicious croissants, cereals, yogurt, and coffee. However, its worth noting that if you desired water bottles, you had to specifically request them from the front desk. The room itself was pleasant, providing a comfortable space to relax. One downside was the absence of a pool or hot tub on the premises, though you could catch glimpses of a pool and hot tub next door from the second floor. Unfortunately, there was no option to utilize those amenities, which would have been a welcome addition. Despite the slightly higher price point, I believe the overall experience warranted a five-star rating. I appreciate the efforts of the staff and the quality of the room, though I do hope the hotel considers adding a pool or hot tub option in the future
Old Town Coffee Santa Barbara

A nice little coffee shop in downtown Santa Barbara! We stopped in to get a snack and ended up sitting down in the courtyard outside to enjoy the yummy coffee and sunshine. They share the space with other local restaurants/cafes, so there were plenty of different unique & yummy options to chose from. I got an iced caramel lavender cold brew that was fabulous, and my husband had an iced green tea matcha with honey. The staff was friendly and seemed to have some good relationships with regulars/local patrons. They had plenty of indoor seating inside & out. There were also glasses and water for us to enjoy along side our treats. I would recommend stopping here if you are in-town exploring for the day.
