Every time i am there, i witness her being constantly and openly abusive to her poor staff members who are amazing and doing their very best despite having the most condescending, nasty manager in the world. She ought to be ashamed of herself, though she probably isnt because shes so drunk on her mediocre upper management power. Lady, its clear you hate your life, but youre low and disgusting for taking it out on your min wage staff who cant fight back. Guess this is the only place in your life where you have power or control over anything, so you abuse it. Super sad. Do better. Everyone else there is killing it and doing a great job, Nolite te Bastardes Carborundorum!

The ONLY issue is the fact they close at 5:30 but say nobody can place an order after 5:15 in store... I walked in at 5:15 and they said they are open but not accepting orders. So very confused! One tip, PLEASE WAIT THE EXTRA 15 MINS TO CLOSE. I understand its nice to clean up a bit early but make sure you let customer know before they place order. Or just fix hours online to 5:15 not 5:30, its wrong.

Comment: I love Peets coffee for its bold drip coffee selection, as well as the solid espresso based drinks. This Peets is no different in terms of the quality of its drinks. However I think the customer service could be improved when placing an order in-person. I used to feel welcome coming in to the store up until recently. The lady who appears to be in charge has not been as friendly nor welcoming to me as a paying customer on several recent visits. It has come to the point where it almost feels like shes doing me a favor. I will say that this is isolated to her as the other staff are much friendlier and welcoming. I will update my review if the service improves.

Comment: This review is specifically for Marilyn (I think is her name. She has long brown hair and is in her early 20s). I was having issues with the Peets app and connectivity and wanted to redeem some points and a coupon I had. Marilyn tried to help me but I had no reception, so she helped me out with redemption on my drink.The manager (I think) with glasses overheard me talking about it to my friend and asked me what had happened, then went over and spoke to Marilyn about it like she shouldn’t have done that.What’s so sad is that Marilyn did a great job, helped me out and I would have definitely stopped by this Peets when I pass through SB again. But the manager (or lead, whoever she was) listening in to my conversation and then talking to Marilyn about the situation made me feel what she did was wrong, when she was trying to make it right.Please give Marilyn a shout out and a raise. She’s great!

Comment: When there are enough people working, this is a great place. The addition of quick-to-go hot food is great when Im in a hurry or headed to be on the road. The people who use Peets -- and other coffee places too, as their daily office, taking up space for hours at a time -- on computers and on phones, that I dont care for; I like meeting friends for coffee and the all-day occupants make it difficult to find a place to sit. Wish they would limit time. On the other hand, I understand why office space is not affordable and there is free wifi. Ill take my medium cap and be happy because its my favorite place in town.

Things I like: (1) Across the street from my gym, which means easy pre-workout caffeination, (2) the store is clean and well-maintained (unlike the threadbare stores of another large coffee chain competitor in town), (3) the staff are really friendly and polite, and they remember my favorite drink, (4) they have both soy and almond milk, and they dont charge extra for them, and (5) the Peets reward program is far more generous than Starbucks, since it is based on number of visits, rather than on dollars spent. They have their own parking lot, and parking is always available. Give Peets uptown a try!
