1802 Roasters
1206 N, Cypress Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90065, United States
I must say, I've known the owners of 1802 Roasters even before they started doing farmers' markets. They would go door to door to pass out samples and deliver coffee around our neighborhood to promote their roasting company. I appreciated their hard work and dedication so as soon as we had an open space for a coffee roaster in our California Certified Farmers' Markets I immediately let them know. They have since moved on from a farmers' market vendor to their own café/roastery and it's been a pleasure watching them grow and gain more experience in the Food and Beverage Industry.I've been following the construction progress of the shop from when it was a homeless encampment and a dumping site for abandoned vehicles to what it is now, and they've truly created a cozy and inviting space where everybody is welcome. I wish them all the success and will continue to watch them grow as entrepreneurs and business owners.John EdwardsPresidentRaw Inspiration/CCFM
Loquat Coffee
1201 Cypress Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90065, United States
Loquat, as mentioned in their bio, is a private label of the beloved Kumquat coffee. I first stumbled upon this place (December 5, 2023) after initially trying to find parking at Kumquat dtla location, street parking was impossible so I told my partner let's try out Loquat instead. At Loquat, free parking is available along the Main Street, might have to park a couple blocks down, which isn't a problem since the neighborhood seems calm imo. Upon entering Loquat Coffee, we were greeted by the employees, which might not seem significant to some but it honestly makes a difference. We felt welcomed right off the bat. I ordered the Guatemala Antigua pour-over and my partner ordered the ceremonial matcha iced latte. The pour- over was well executed, to the barista who did the job thank you. The coffee grounds were not scalded at any point. The precise temperature allowed the coffee grounds to elicit the notes of dark chocolate and green apple. The coffee was smooth and enjoyable at every sip, as it was not acidic. My partners review for the iced match latte was 8/10. She prefers the ones prepped at Kumquot coffee, specifically dtla location. If you've been reading up to this point, there is additional parking on the streets where the houses are situated. If you can, try to opt out of to-go-cups, enjoy the coffee in a mug or glass. Would I return to Loquat? Of course, I will continue to try out the pour-overs and the other items offered. Would I recommend Loquat? Yes, I would definitely, whether it's to family or friends. Give this place a try, you can't go wrong with Kumquat or Loquat.
Sightglass Coffee
7051 Willoughby Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038, United States
Ok this place is almost everything you want it to be and I hope it gets there because there is so much good about this place but its falling just a little bit short. Lets break it down:SERVICE: Its providing the quality of a sit down restaurant but its really just a grab and go/grab and sit so there is no server (probably because hourly wage in LA is impossible to hit profit margins/ I know I lost a business after 10 years of being open and the top of our space) anything you need is on you to get except when dining in they will bring the food to you. Wait times on ordering can be a tad long for a grab and go but tolerable. Line to order is frustrating sometimes though especially if your buying something from the grocery side - really you need a self check out! Please add!FOOD: The food is honestly great! Better than 99% of grab and goes in the area and many full service restaurants as well. The ingredients are fresh and the prices reflect but I appreciate what youre doing here...most places in LA use cheap ingredients to maximize profit margins. Here youre getting quality but you are paying for it. It would be awesome though if you werent always running out of things...this is your downfall food wise right now. Increase supply there is obviously demand.ATMOSPHERE: The atmosphere is solid. I appreciate the warehouse vibe. The table layout though needs work there is a lot of deadspace still here that can be utilized...how about adding more 1 & 2 person booths? A lot of people here to work or take a quick meeting that dont want to be on top of other people at the communal tables.COFFEE: I am not a coffee snob so most of what I have had here has been great but they do run out of a lot of stuff so again increase supply there is obviously demand.RECAP: The earlier you come the more likely to get the good stuff. Quality is great here but the prices reflect. Come prepared. Getting a clean table is a bit of a tetris match at peak hours. Service is mostly on you and prepare to wait a tolerable amount of time. I rate this a 4.4...excited to see this place evolve and I hope for the best!Good luck and see ya soon :)
G & B Coffee
317 S Broadway C19, Los Angeles, CA 90013, United States
I was on a coffee crawl with a barista friend the day I came to try some coffee here. Id been told they had great coffee and was excited to see what they had to offer.First off I gotta say the location, look, and atmosphere were pretty cool. Everything youd expect of a hip coffee shop in a prime location. There was a lot of movement, coffee being poured, conversations. My Hopes were high as we stepped up and ordered some cappuccinos. Now, I might be a bit spoiled when it comes to coffee because of the places I hang out and people I know and jobs Ive had. Espresso is a finicky thing. You pull it wrong and, snap, it sucks. Mistimed, too much, too little grounds, tamped too soft or hard...so much. Newer machines take a chunk of the thinking out of it by trying to keep things constant...but it also makes people lazy. One of our drinks had a shot that made me cringe hard enough that I had to get them to remake the drink. The barista seemed a bit confused because I dont think many people bring things back to them...Bitter, mouth-drying finish, with a crazy sour head. No milk could cut it. And, the other one...just bland. Like milky coffee with no real espresso notes that make a cappuccino a cappuccino. After one drink having to be redone I wasnt going to ask to have the second one as well. Its a hip, cool place, and great for people-watching but sadly to say it doesnt live up to the hype when it comes to taste. Im probably being harder than necessary on the rating, but, when you tout yourself to be a high-class top-shelf coffee shop, you really got to live up to those standards or expect people who really love their coffee to speak up.Ill give them another try to see if it was just an off day...but it will be a while before that happens. Lots of other shops Ive been recommended to to get to first.

Alibi Coffee Co.
2268 Venice Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90006, United States
I have a complaint about the location in 2268 Venice Boulevard Los Angeles, CA. I was in the coffee shop early in the morning today when a short slighting chubby light skin Asian woman was being overly aggressive with me and harassing. Initially I was talking to one of my girl for friends who was there to work and went to another table to take a business call. After my friend left this lady who told me her name is Shai, aggressively confronted me and said “ Sir you need to buy something are you going to buy something “. I told her yes I am. I was about to leave for work and was going to take a coffee to go. She wait 2 minutes then aggressively intrudes on me getting loud and started saying “ SIR YOU NEED TO BUY SOMETHING OR YOU NEED TO LEAVE”. I'm a 6 foot shaved head African American male who is a senior in college and I am being harassed and victimized by a woman I don't even know. I asked her name and wrote it down on my phone . She'll continually started yelling at me and I told her I'm leaving.
Cognoscenti Coffee - DTLA

Decided to try this place with a couple friends and let me tell you something, their flourless chocolate cake is to DIE for! Its so yummy and it melts in your mouth (literally) and Im not too much of a chocolate cake person but man, it is goood! I also got a ham and cheese croissant and that was also really great. I love the ambience. Super friendly staff. They make your drinks quickly. Since it was my first time there, I didnt know what to order, drink wise. I got a mint iced tea and it was OK. Ill try something else next time. Definitely coming back with new friends.
Coffee Del Mundo
7414 S Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90044, United States
Stopped by Coffee Del Mundo and it was one awesome experience. This little shop is located in the community of South L.A. and has various selections of coffee from Latin America and Africa. The cocoa cold brew I had was velvety, creamy, sweet, well-balanced, and delicious. I also tried the cafe de olla and it was also spectacular. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner who was welcoming and spoke to him about the coffee he sells. I will be back for more coffee. By the way, their milk is dairy-free and the coffee is organic, a major win for me.
Aquarela Coffee - DTLA
601 W 5th St, Los Angeles, CA 90071, United States
Located inside the lobby of The CalEdison building in the financial district of Downtown Los Angeles (across from the Los Angeles Public Library). Unless you are familiar with this area, it's hard to miss.Coffee was smooth and their savory pastries were on point. Seating area in the lobby is beautiful, quiet and peaceful. Employees are very friendly and they put their heart into making you the best cup of coffee.I highly recommend getting a hot americano ($4.50 for 8 oz) and pairing it with either some cheese bread (3 for $4.50) chicken croquette ($5.25) or beef croquette ($5.25). Great picker upper in the morning and afternoon.Parking is difficult around here. Not sure if they validate parking inside The CalEdison parking structure.
Gardens Coffee & Tea
3149 Los Feliz Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90039, United States
I have been going to Gardens Coffee for about 1 year and a half. Since the first day I entered through the doors, I am always greeted with a big smile, and on all occassions I have felt welcomed by all the friendly staff members. After only a couple of times, they already knew my name and each time as soon as I walk in, I am greeted Good morning Norma, followed by a smiile. I have often felt as if I am entering a family home, and everytime, the owner, Harry, comes and starts up a nice conversation with me.Gardens Coffee has an amazing selection of speciality coffees, teas, shakes, and detoxing drinks. I look foward to drinking their Matcha, specifically on those times when I have had a bad day, and stop by at Gardens Coffee and my mood changes. They have the best Matcha in town!!I am a cancer survivor, therefore I am very cognizant what I ingest. Gardens Coffee and Tea utilizes the best ingredients, all natural, and organic, always keeping their customers special diet in mind. Can be somewhat problematic at other cafes, not at Gardens Coffee. I am always told whatever you want. There was one time when I suggested a particular non-dairy milk that does not have a certain ingredient that causes cancer. The next day, I went into Gardens Coffee, ordered my Matcha, and I was shown the very same brand of non-dairy milk, I had told them about only 1 day before. I can order anything on their nenu, and they gladly substitute any ingredients to my vegan specifications. Now this is what I call the most unique and outstanding cafe I have ever gone to. What makes Gardens Coffee different from every other cafe? Is they care about the well-being of every individual that enters through their doors. This is just two of the many reasons why I continue to come to Gardens Coffee and Tea.Last year, I went to two events, and had Gardens create a few platers for me, as well as a fruit and cheese charcuterie board. The owner, Harry told me he will personally go to the market and get all of the items himself. I asked for vegan cheese too, along with the regular cheese. I also mentioned how I at one time ate a delicious vegan cheese that had cranberries in it and how I could never find it again. On both times, when I picked up my catering dishes, I was so amazed and pleasantly surprised by not only how delicious everything looked, but by also how beautiful the presentation was. The charcuterie board had so many different types of fruits, and there was five varations of vegan cheese, and guess what? the absolutely flavorful vegan raspberry cheese, was included. I dont know how Harry found it, however I was beyond delighted. Everyone at the 2 seperate events I had gone to were very impressed by the presentation (they said the cheese and fruit board looked like a magnificent piece of art) and how good everything tasted.I highly recommend stopping by at Gardens Coffee and Tea for any of their mouthwatering meals, or tasty organic drinks. Take the time to dine in and enjoy the coziest atmosphere with their soothing music. Hey, you may even want to dance, as I do everytime I walk through the doors of Gardens Coffee. Come experience, for yourself, the best kept secret on Los Feliz Blvd.
