Comment: I visit G+B three mornings a week. I get off the subway at Pershing Square by Angels Flight and grab my coffee here before walking through a quiet Grand Central to my office building at the Bradbury. Its a sublime morning routine. The drip coffee is good and strong and the baristas are kind and helpful (for those complaining about bad service; thats likely because you just suck).This morning G+B was playing the music of Twin Peaks and I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to sit and watch the vintage funicular cars rattle up and down through the gloomy LA air, cup of steaming coffee in hand. I considered skipping work to sit there and solve a crime but alas, capitalism called and I had to rip myself away from my Lynchian morning, so beautifully curated by G+B.

Comment: Our barista was amazing. He let us sample the matcha and offered alternatives to meet our needs. The coffee they use is exquisite! You can taste the deliciousness and can tell they take their time brewing their batch. Highly recommend the cold brew coffee. They cold brew it for 24 hours, and let me tell you, it is so freaking good. The matcha we got was also rich and smooth over ice. Would definitely go back and recommend for any coffee aficionado out there.

Comment: Great vibes and excellent coffee. Got the cold brew and it was way better than expected. Really nice mouthfeel, it was velvety and almost syrupy. The taste was super clean as well, with no muddiness. Reminded me of eating a 60% dark chocolate bar with raspberry or cranberry. Definitely coming back here for more coffee!

I don’t live Downtown anymore but I stillwork Downtown infrequently and always stop by on my way to the office.The service & coffee has gone down immensely over the past few years. The rbf from the employees is just unrelenting. It doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday, the weekend, morning, or afternoon they clearly hate being there.I’ve noticed the decline but didn’t think too much of it until this morning when the person working literally just completely ignored my existence to serve customers who were standing in line behind me, until the barista ordered us to move to the counter. The counter thing is the standard here, but the problem is that the people working hardly ever pay attention to the order of folks.I just decided to leave - maybe this company, with G&B and GGT has just gotten too big and too impartial to give af?Whatever the reason, I’m done with giving them my business after yes, 10 years.Deuces.

Comment: To the tall skinny dude with slick hair. You need some MAJOR customer service training. And the small Asian girl as well. We always come to grand central for breakfast and never had an issue. Wanted to try the coffee here. It was ok. Mediocre. But the service was horrendous. We asked for more milk for the iced coffee and the tall skinny kid made a horrible face as if we were an inconvenience and didnt even come towards us. Just made a signal like I cant hear you. We were standing right at the counter. The girl that had initially served us refused to come towards us and pointed at him to help us, and then they both shrugged and rolled their eyes. He refused to help us, and the girl came back with an attitude, and we asked nicely if we could please have some more milk. Now I know the kids of this generation werent taught respect and common decency, but youre at work getting paid for a job. If you dont like your job, change it. As someone who has worked in food service, customer service is how you learn to work and people skills. You children need a lot of help.

Comment: Went back to the G&B coffee place in the Grand Central Market - and for the 2nd day in a row they gave me a free Americano (on top of what I bought) today I had the Yeast raised waffle - it smelled like beer trub (when you brew beer, it is the layer of used yeast at the bottom of the fermentation container) when it is cooking and while lite and fluffy it has a subtle acidity that comes from fermentation (a sourdough waffle) - at $8.50 it is maybe the best deal going - high on flavor and a perfect breakfast with a cup of coffee - even better with a beer.  If you sit facing the outside (on the right), you can watch the trolley cars, for the angel trolley, go up and down and see the people coming to get coffee and pastries - a delightful experience. I love the Americano though - great coffee flavor and ask for a side of milk (cow milk or plant-based) to add to it to smooth it out and cut that edge of acidity - I tried it without as well but I like the smoothness addition of some form of milk adds to the experience (like I said, smooths it out) - do note, that if you are having coffee there they dont take payment till you are done, which is nice and watching the coffee and waffles being made is a lot of fun. There is a blue bottle coffee place, in the Bradbury building, catty-corner to the side of the market G&B is on but the coffee at G&B, for me, was better - and finally, everyone who worked there was super nice - pleasant and polite and just a real pleasure to get to know over the three days I went for coffee, in the morning. Oh, and there is music, which is great - not too loud but it adds to the experience.

Comment: Seems like theyre winning the race to the middle. Its an island/bar set up which makes it high-impact for workers (they get it from all sides). Definitely got the vibes that folks who work here are under-supported/underpaid. The espresso was discernibly better than the second-wave greasy stuff from the big chains, but really didnt have much distinctive quality or editorial perspective (as far as roasts go). The shop has a lot of legacy hype, but whatever earned it its reputation doesnt seem to be available on just any old weekday afternoon.

When I finally received my drink I realized that it had not been made correctly, unfortunately I had already left and was taking my toddler somewhere. Comment: While I enjoyed the latte I had, the barista who helped me had a disappointing attitude. The shop sells a variety of teas with cool names - but descriptions / ingredients are not listed. The barista did not know what was in the tea nor was he interested in finding out the ingredients for me, either via the company binder or inquiring with his fellow baristas. I have allergies so I needed to be aware of certain flowers / ingredients in the tea. I think it is a reasonable request and would expect better behavior from a food and drink seller. I would rather find another coffee and tea shop to support in the future.

I will have to try one next time, the coffee is so good, our barista Kim was so sweet and added an extra touch of Love into our drinks. iced vanilla latte with oatmilk sooo yummy. Comment: The problem with this place, is there is no line, you could be waiting for 10 minutes and because of the lack of any process here, people who arrived after you can be served before you. YOU NEED A DEDICATED SPOT TO TAKE ORDERS!!! This place has so much potential, but due to the lack of any process here you end up spending much more time waiting than you need to. I feel like I had to fight my way to place an order. The coffee is sooooo good here, I just wish it was more organized.

Was here for breakfast yesterday and waited in line to be served - girl with flat face and dark features looked directly at me and my friend (both non white males) and walked away to help a white man who literally had just walked up to the side of the bar. He was nice enough to let her know that we were waiting first - you can tell she was super stoked to serve us. This is why gentrification is a problem. So rude. Took the coffee and left. Comment: I LOVE this coffee. Smelling it makes my skin tingle with joy. Its so rich and delightful. They grind their own which you can buy in bulk. Try the latte with oat milk. They make the milk in house, too, with a combination of macadamia and other nuts (theyre currently working on a nut-free version for those with allergies). Theres nothing better than having this coffee while sitting at the marble top bar in the open market, taking a break from your day, people watching, and sipping on arguably the best coffee in town. Its truly a wonderful moment.

I am loving the espresso, which has a somewhat smokey roast quality. For sweetener, you get one thing only: a brown sugar syrup, but it really works with the coffee. I also recommend the old grove tea, but lately they have been out of it by the time i arrive later in the day (they close at 7pm).

Id been told they had great coffee and was excited to see what they had to offer.First off I gotta say the location, look, and atmosphere were pretty cool. Everything youd expect of a hip coffee shop in a prime location. There was a lot of movement, coffee being poured, conversations. My Hopes were high as we stepped up and ordered some cappuccinos.Now, I might be a bit spoiled when it comes to coffee because of the places I hang out and people I know and jobs Ive had. Espresso is a finicky thing. You pull it wrong and, snap, it sucks. Mistimed, too much, too little grounds, tamped too soft or hard...so much. Newer machines take a chunk of the thinking out of it by trying to keep things constant...but it also makes people lazy.One of our drinks had a shot that made me cringe hard enough that I had to get them to remake the drink. The barista seemed a bit confused because I dont think many people bring things back to them...Bitter, mouth-drying finish, with a crazy sour head. No milk could cut it. And, the other one...just bland. Like milky coffee with no real espresso notes that make a cappuccino a cappuccino. After one drink having to be redone I wasnt going to ask to have the second one as well.Its a hip, cool place, and great for people-watching but sadly to say it doesnt live up to the hype when it comes to taste. Im probably being harder than necessary on the rating, but, when you tout yourself to be a high-class top-shelf coffee shop, you really got to live up to those standards or expect people who really love their coffee to speak up.Ill give them another try to see if it was just an off day...but it will be a while before that happens. Lots of other shops Ive been recommended to to get to first.

Whether he was in attendance during my visit or if he had simply passed his skills down, the quality at G&B is certainly worth a few minutes of my time sharing with the community snd of your time if youre in the area. The almond latte was distinctively nutty, yhe standard whole milk latte, at or above the level of Blue Bottle. The milk foam was so smooth I thought at first they had given me a porcelain statue of a latte. Kidding, but it was silky smooth foam. The only real negative is the noisy environment and fixed bar stools which make for a slightly uncomfortable seating experience.

Baristas were pleasant but getting my espresso was a 29 minute wait. 29 minutes from receiving my emailed receipt to having my espresso in hand. My wife was given, sat down and completed here dish long before I could join her. We both assumed I would have my espresso in time to join her.A couple who had ordered 5 minutes after me were in a similar predicament. The gentleman had his cappuccino almost right away. 10 minutes later and after asking several times the lady’s cappuccino finally arrived. I watched this happen as I continued to wait for my espresso.When I finally sat down I was ready to absolutely hate G&B. This famed and beloved cafe. But I loved the espresso experience. I hated that I loved it because I wanted to hate G&B.

Great coffee will be pricey, and I’m fine with that. However the waffle was pricey for the size and served as my appetizer before eating at Eggslut also in Grand Central Market. Again, you refined coffee drinkers must stop by and try!

Comment: One of my favorite post-meeting stops. Coffee, fresh air, and a bustling, Hollywood B.S. free look into the native side of downtown Los Angeles. Despite the mass of tourists that visit Grand Central Market, this cafe and the surrounding area maintain the local vibe that many of us L.A. natives hold dear.

Comment: G & B was one of my favorite coffee shops in LA. It has a great atmosphere and better coffee. I think my favorite part of the experience was the barista asking if I wanted to open a tab. Made the place feel more like a bad than a coffee shop.

Comment: Delicious (breve) latte. Known for their home made almond macadamia milk (if you usually pair that with your coffee/espresso). Cool drink combos, such as business and pleasure. Good service with nice wrap around bar. On the high priced side. Can be a long wait.

Comment: Pretty much the best coffee Ive had in the US :) Double shot dry cap was heaven as was the tasty cooked to order waffle. Only 1 thing to note was coffee quality was barista dependent and the young friendly guy who was on in the morning was the best.

Comment: Tried their highly recommended iced coffee and Almond Macadamia Latte on separate occasions but we thought it was meh. I dub it the hipster sour taste. The counter ordering feels gimicky and seems to add confusion. Prices are high. $6.25 for the meh Almond Macadamia Latte? No thanks.

Comment: G&B might have been my first real third wave coffee experience. As with other third wave coffee, you might need a few trips to get it; unfortunately that learning curve might not be worth the price for some. And, hey, man, if you like cheaper, no-frills coffee without an origin story: more power to you. But if you appreciate acidic, bright coffees, non-dairy milks, and pretty people in plaid/checked shirts serving you, its hard to beat G&B.The house-made almond macadamia milk is quite delicious, but Ive never met someone that really liked it on the first try; its surprisingly sour (in a good way), and it has a tendency to further accentuate the natural acidity of their coffees. The first time you have it you might recoil a bit, but I really started loving it after a while. I vastly prefer the almond-macadamia latte iced over hot, though.

Comment: G&B has in a very short time become a DTLA institution. They offer some of LAs best coffee, if not the very best coffee. The service is amazing, fresh food offerings and a great selection of coffee choices. The bar like setting is great for people watching, chatting or just a few minutes of peace and quiet. While the parking situation sucks should you choose to drive, theres plenty of seating to be found in and around the market. Just go!!!

Comment: G&B is a great addition to Grand Central Market. Its located on the Hill St entrance, right across from Angels flight. There is an Italian style feel to G&Bs setup with the stand up bar service when you order. There are a few stools on each end of the bar if you want to just chill with your coffee and do your wifi thing. And of course, open seating throughout Grand Central Market as well.The staff has always been super friendly each time Ive gone there, and they whip up some mean drinks!Sparkling White Tea (w/ hops) - mmm on a warm day this has a great refreshing taste to it! Dunno if it was gimmicky, but I loved the idea of them pouring it from the barrel tap=).Almond Cappuccino - this may be an acquired taste for some. They make their own almond milk so the milk has that raw, earthy taste to it. Not the boxed, flavored stuff you get at the market. This was maybe my least favorite of the drinks so far.Cappuccino - mmm, when made with a great espresso & barista - you get a great drink!G&B shake - kind of reminded me of an affogato. G&Bs shake has 4 (yup 4!!) shots of espresso in it. There are also some coffee grains sprinkled into the shake as well. Ive only had this one once and it was a little runnier than Im used to when drinking shakes. Though the taste was mmm, yum! I will admit, I only drank half since I was sharing and I had the caffeine jitters after - haha so not for the caffeine wary!And one of my all time faves of this place? The yummy donuts they have here by the Donut Snob. The Razzy Lemon Lulu is a winner!yknow the mantra: great service + yummy goodness = thumbs up G&B!!!

Comment: Have been several times. Espresso drinks with their own macadamia nut/almond milk are great! Today I had a regular coffee. It comes in a stoneware cup with a small carafe to refill.I had a yeast waffle with maple syrup with it. The yeast made the Belgian style waffle light and fluffy and allowed the outside to have a delicate crust. It was delicious!

Comment: Amazing coffee spot! I ordered their Almond Macadamia Cappuccino and it was very delicious. The coffee was strong but tasted great. I ordered it without sugar which made me taste the Almond Macadamia portion even more.I also love that they serve waffles, although I regret that I wasnt able to try it. I will definitely be back for more of their coffee and baked goods.
