Coffee & Tea Collective

The coffee is wonderful. The shop has a good ambiance. Coffee is always Full bodied and Strong. Service is always friendly. Bought a whole bean bag for home ☕️ too.Last time we went here for a coffee I got a cappuccino and my wife got a latte. Some places (ahem Starbucks) don't make strong and tasty coffee. This place does. The cappuccino was bold and perfectly frothed. Got me wired for the day ahead! The pastry ? we had was a handmade toaster strudel (egg and bacon). They don't make the pastries but get them from some A+ shops. This particular prime piece of pastry perfection was from the bakery pop up Freshman Year. Why is the pastry selection important? Because anyone who has a coffee shop of quality knows that the coffee must be paired with a little bite for maximum impact. These shopkeepers / baristas know this, and hit the mark on their delicious coffee and their simple yet superb pastry offerings.Great coffee, service, pastries, and ambiance. Keep up the great work!

Overall: The inside of this place reminds me of a Japanese photo booth. Pink with skulls! :) It can be either cute or overkill depending on your taste :) However, I really enjoy sitting there and enjoying the cute but chill vibe. I have a sweet tooth, but I do not like it when drinks are overly sweet (feels like Im getting diabetes). If you like your desserts REALLY sweet, this is the place for you! + 1 starsQuality of Food: My friend got Flaming Brown Sugar Boba (half sweet and half ice) - they said that the only option is to ONLY put the brown sugar and not additional sweetness. One drink...and I died. It was so sweet, I needed to add additional sugar to even it out. We also got Oreo creme brule smoothie and that was really sweet too!Price for Food: Average boba price. For the amount of sweetness you are getting, it is worth it :)Location/Ambience: This little shop is located in a small shopping center surrounded by amazing food! It is a great place to chill after eating and if you are craving dessert +1 starsStaff/Service: The cashier who served us was very courteous. They were running low on boba and said that he could give my friend the remaining boba plus another topping for free. He later found out he charged us the wrong size and wanted to refund us. If he had not spoken up, we would have never noticed! Exceptional customer service! +1 stars

This experience turned out to be such a disappointment. We had a reservation about a week or two in advance and they confirmed the number of people, our orders and our allergens. We showed up on time and were seated immediately. The food came out rather quickly and thats where the problems started. My mom has a life-threatening allergy to pinenuts, yet upon her plate being brought out we were told there was a sandwich with pesto which is known to contain pinenuts. The server took it back immediately and when she went to the kitchen she confirmed there were pinenuts. Unfortunately the server got really defensive when we tried to explain that whoever confirmed our reservation our allergens should really have passed that information back to the kitchen. From then our server treated us very poorly, even skipping over us as she checked on the other tables. I went to go speak with a woman who seemed to be in charge and she told me whe was a co-owner. She emphasized that there were in fact no pinenuts in the pesto but did very little to reassure us or console us. One bite could have sent us to the hospital and we were on a vacation. We have been to high tea everywhere from Victoria, B.C. to Pasadena, to the Queen Mary, to the Disneyland hotel. Despite how beautiful the location is (hence the two stars), the customer service was deplorable. I assure you, we wont be back.

Was looking for a place to get some late night boba and decided to try this place. They gave free samples for their milk teas, which I really appreciated, all of them were yummy, but I would recommend the jasmine milk tea, super florally and flavorful! I ended up getting the snow jasmine, salt+strawberry and ZzzZZ. I sampled both the jasmine and ZzzZZ, both solid teas. I didn't know the salt+strawberry was a slushy, and I normally don't like slushies but this was actually really good. You can't taste the ice like most slushies, so it was really smooth! And all the drinks were perfect at 100% sweetness for me, they were not too sweet. And everything is made with non-dairy creamer, so it's lactose-intolerant friendly :) Prices are slightly cheaper than boba around the area, so that's also a win. Aside from the drinks, the atmosphere is really nice: good music, lots of seating (and parking!), and wifi if you want to study. The staff members were very nice (I think Michelle is the one who served me!), didn't rush me when I was indecisive about my drink decision, and the drinks were made really quickly! Would definitely come back again!!!

Zumbar Coffee & Tea
10920 Roselle St, San Diego, CA 92121, United States
This review is coming from a non-coffee-drinker, so please take this with a grain of...coffee grounds? My coworkers rave about this place. It is apparently an amazing coffee shop. For me, Im delighted that they carry the absolutely mind-blowing almond croissants from Opera Patisserie, which is nearby, but Zumbar is more convenient. Something for everyone! However. This place is so, so noisy inside. Its also not a great use of space. There are a few tables along the edge and a big open space in the middle, a couple tables outside. People who are waiting for their order are awkwardly splayed about. The machinery is really loud, so you probably arent going to be talking to someone else much, anyway. Ive taken a client here and sat outside and it was still difficult to have an informal meeting here because of the noise and the rickety chairs and tables. I feel like this coffee shop cant quite decide if it is counter service only or if it is trying to be a place people come hang out. What I would likely do, if anyone asked me (they wont) would be to put a thick piece of plexiglass behind the cashier, between him/her and the equipment, which is large and looks vaguely impressive. That way, if showing off said mysterious machinery is important, it can still happen, but contain the noise more. To me, the back area with all the things doesnt look particularly like something one really needs to show off to enhance the experience, but what do I know.In any case, stop by to pick up an almond croissant or other assorted and delightful pastries, and even coffee if you are into that kind of thing, but save your ears and get everything to go.

Marlenes Tea & Cakes
14677 Via Bettona, San Diego, CA 92127, United States
My family has a lot of April birthdays so we usually try to get the ladies together to celebrate. Everyone loves tea parties! My cousin said she attended a baby shower here before and asked if we wanted to have our lunch here.I agree with some of the other reviews, that they dont answer their phone. When you leave a message, it does take a few days for a response. The message said theyll call you back within 24 hours, but note they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. My cousin left a message on Wed 3/21/18 and our reservation wasnt confirmed until that weekend. To make a reservation for parties of 5 of more, they have to charge a credit card ahead of time. They also charge 15% tip. With everything including tax and tip, it came out to $39 and some change per person for our party of 6. Reservation times were either 11:00AM or 2:30PM. We came in on Saturday at 11AM.Ive been to many Tea Parties and Marlenes feels more elegant (almost hotel-like) and not as homey as others Ive been to. (Ive been to some that are within an actual vintage house and another where it was a converted barn). Nonetheless, it was decorated beautifully inside. The water they provided was infused with cucumber. I could definitely taste it. (so good).MENU--------------STARTER: Carrot & Ginger Soup with Puff TwistSAVORIES: Cucumber & Herb Sandwich, Mini-Beef Wellington, Blue Cheese Mascarpone and Red Onion Confit Quiche, Chicken & Lemon-Tarragon Sandwich, Avocado Caprese ToastSCONES & FRUIT: Mixed Berry Scone, pineapple, strawberry, cantaloupe, grapesDESSERTS: Lemon Flower Tart, Tres Leches Cake Trifle, Raspberry Cheesecake White Chocolate Truffle, Chocolate Souffle CakeWe tried the following teas: Mango n Friends, Blueberry Bang (Rooibos), Creme Au Caramel, Lady LondonderryI think our favorite was probably the Mango n Friends.Overall, they bring out the soup on its own to start and the rest of the menu is on the tiered display. The soup, quiche, sandwiches, and avocado toast were delicious. The scone was decent. However, what really let me down were the desserts. Not really impressed with any of them.My family still had a great time, but were in agreement that weve had better. Our server was awesome though and explained what each dish was, refilled our water, asked if we wanted more teas, and even took a couple group photos for us.

Best boba in San Diego - the quality of the tea and the boba is unbeatable. They have a user-friendly, non-overwhelming menu showing the teas in order of caffeine level, and always have a couple creative monthly specials. Plus, you can purchase loose leaf tea and other fun boba accessories. Love that there is some space to sit and work inside as well. A must-go place for visitors and locals alike!Only complaint is that we tried for two full months to get a hold of someone to set up a catering order for our wedding (which they say on their website that they offer). We tried webforms, calling, leaving messages with the employees, reaching out on social media, and even emailing the owner, and were never contacted back once :( In terms of this aspect of their business, we are extremely disappointed with the management. I would advise them to remove the option on their website or to give people a simple reply if they arent taking catering orders at this time. We found the complete lack of communication very unprofessional.

Bei Yuan Tea & Boba

So, to preface my review, Im posting this as a former Tea Station employee and customer.I used to work for Tea Station as a waitress, and it was the worst employment experience I have ever had. Not only was the pay below minimum wage, but the customer service was also atrocious. As an employee, I was able to see the poor quality of service that our customers were dealt with. Missing drinks, late orders, overcharged bills, and a complete disregard for the customers needs was the norm. For example, customers would often times be left waiting for over 30 minutes despite ordering their drinks to go. Whenever this happens, customers are left waiting for even longer to get their drinks, and they sometimes receive the wrong order. Not to mention, all of the entrees are pre-processed, frozen, and not fresh in the least. The takoyaki, for example, came in large plastic bags that are then stuffed into a microwave for quick cooking. The drinks also suffer from a similar issue, as the majority of their teas are not even imported from Taiwan. Tea Station attempts to sell a brand of Oriental delights for a severely inflated price tag.As a customer, I dealt with a lot of the same issues above. I also had to wait absurd amounts of time, despite the restaurant being empty, and my order was often times wrong. All the employees always tried to avoid making any possible contact with customers, which is largely due to them knowing only Taiwanese, and they were often times rude. They would never apologize, or give any type of consolation unlike other boba shops. Do yourself a favor, and go to the other boba shops in the area. Youll at least be able to speak to the workers.Tldr: terrible service, high prices, lackluster food

Tea n More

Taken from my yelp review on June 20, 2017.Came here around 22:40 (10:40pm) on June 19, 2017 from Tajima. We have been here many times before, but the first thing I noticed is that they rearranged the inside. The photo booth and the crane machine are now closer towards the restroom while tables and chairs are scooted next to the windows. It looks great at night. It gives the impression that it is busy as it was for the night. Most people are out for the summer, I saw many people enjoying boards games like King of Tokyo, Machi Koro, and 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. People were having fun here during the summer. Of course there are people who study here during the school year, but I did not come at the right time for that.As for the food, I ordered strawberry smoothie with no boba large size. The drink was okay. Maybe I do not know what to order, but plenty of times I came here and thought the drink is okay. It is good enough for my friends to keep coming back though. It is a great place to spend quality times with your friends. As for the popcorn chicken my friend ordered, they look and taste weird. It looks so different from what I would call it popcorn chicken. It looks like they took several chicken strips and cut them down. I was disappointed. Even though it is chicken, I do not think it deserves to be called popcorn as it does not even look like it. I hope this was a substitute (I am assuming that they ran out of the popcorn chicken) otherwise I would not order it without a name change.Overall, we do come here often, but for now I think this place is a little higher than average, but not enough for me to give it a 4 out of 5 for this visit. It is more like 3.5 this time.
