Sunright Tea Studio - Sawtelle
2206 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064, United States
Sunright makes some of my very favorite Boba in Los Angeles. I stop in often and I'm always sad when I finish my drink because it's that good. They don't have as many options as Boba Time but the ingredients here seem higher quality. I love how they have brown sugar boba and honey boba. I seem to get a different drink every time and love all the customizable options. Service is always extremely fast and I never have to wait long for my drink or drinks. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, but street parking is easy to find in this part of town, depending on the time.Pricing is fair and the menu is fairly large, even though some other brands like Boba Time do have larger menus. I usually get some form of milk or fruit tea depending on my mood. This most recent visit I got the crème brûlée milk tea with honey boba and caramel pudding and thought it was fantastic. It is sweet but in a great dessert kind of way. As mentioned they do have fruit tea as well so there is something for everyone, not every drink is sweet.I would definitely recommend to any boba fan and plan to be back many times in the future. I usually stop in every other week already so I don't plan to change that routine anytime soon.

Tea & Coffee Exchange
6801 W Hollywood Blvd suite s-120, Los Angeles, CA 90028, United States
I've been to this place twice and their customer service could really use some work. My first time, I ordered coffee and a ham and cheese croissant which delicious! I came back two months later, ordered the same thing with no issues and for some reason was charged $3 more-but I didn't complain. Then, once I get my croissant about 10 minutes later, I see that it's ham, egg, and cheese. When I bring it up to the barista he tells me “we only have this, we don't have ham and cheese”. I tell him that I ordered this two months ago and that no one told me before taking my money, and he basically tells me that they always change the menu. I was offered a refund, but hopefully they work on customer service; greeting people, letting them know “I'll be with you in a second” instead of acting annoyed or like their customers are a burden…

Volcano Tea House
2111 Sawtelle Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90025, United States
Volcano Boba, located in Sawtelle, has earned a reputation as one of the most popular boba places in the area, evident from the consistently long lines. Having recently visited, I had the opportunity to try their Tai tea boba and Black sugar milk tea latte, resulting in a mixed experience.Starting with the positives, Volcano Bobas Tai tea boba is truly deserving of the hype it receives. The tea itself is infused with a delightful flavor that strikes a perfect balance, delivering a robust and satisfying taste. Complementing the tea, the tapioca pearls offer a pleasing chewiness, adding an enjoyable texture to the beverage. Its no wonder that the long lines persist, as this particular drink is a standout choice. If youre a Tai tea lover, make sure to give it a try. However, my experience with their Black sugar milk tea latte was less impressive. The drink leaned heavily towards a milky profile, overpowering the more delicate notes of the black sugar. As a result, the expected complexity and distinctiveness of the black sugar flavor were somewhat lost, leading to an imbalanced drink. Those seeking a stronger black sugar taste might find this particular offering disappointing. Additionally, one drawback of Volcano Boba is that they dont offer a small size option, limiting choices for those who prefer a smaller serving. In conclusion, Volcano Boba offers a mixed experience. Their Tai tea boba lives up to the reputation and is a definite standout, while the Black sugar milk tea latte falls short with its excessive milkiness. The lack of a small size option is another downside to consider. Nonetheless, the long lines, though inconvenient, indicate the demand and quality of their boba. Consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more relaxed experience.

Paradocs Coffee & Tea

We got two 16 oz matchas with oat milk. We noticed that when he passed the card reader for my friend to pay, it was tossed in her direction. She let it slide. When it came to trying the drinks, we weren't pleased with the taste. It tasted mostly of milk and water, as if he didn't put enough matcha powder in. We've had matcha endless times before and knew it wasn't what we had expected. I go inside to let the gentleman who made them know that we didn't like our drinks and see if we could order something else in place of it. He told me that I've never had good high quality matcha like the one they serve. He doesn't know what I've had or know of my experiences to say such a thing. I asked him to show me what they use. He suggested adding sugar and more milk and I agreed. But that doesn't enhance the flavor, I just didn't want to argue. Just made the drink sweet with no flavor. My friend still wasn't satisfied, because she understands sugar isn't the fix so we went back in. He refused to give her another coffee in place because he said there was nothing wrong with the drink he made. He said it wasn't defective and she was wrong (verbatim, we repeated back what he said and he said yes). He kept talking over me and rambling, simply refusing to accommodate us. He wanted to charge her 2.75 for a small mocha latte for the difference. We declined. My friend felt robbed of her money, wronged, pushed aside, not welcomed, and that her taste isn't good taste because she didn't like his “good” coffee. We both have worked in the coffee industry for years. We both know that more milk and sugar doesn't make a drink better. I DONT recommend coming here.

Tea Master Matcha Cafe and Green Tea Shop
450 E 2nd St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States
I tried the soft serve green tea ice cream to go and loved it so much I went back for a second one. The second one was a noticeably smaller serving. When I asked for the same size serving as I had received the first time I received dumb looks and stupid stares. At first they were going to try and not serve me but finally did without increasing the serving to match what I was served the first time earlier that same day. This happened about a month and a half ago. This is located in Little Tokyo and almost all of their clientele seem to be Japanese. I need to see if Pinkberry still serves almost the same soft se be with matcha powder.Update:Today I was going to order two of the soft serve to go and I asked for some water with ice (as the person is putting ice into a glass). I was refused the water with ice. I was told I could have room temperature water or purchase cold water for $2.00I said “so you are telling me that you will not serve me a courtesy water with ice?” as Im looking right at the ice she had been putting into a glass. When I said that I will be sure to share my experience that I have experienced here today, the man behind counter told me they would not serve me and he asked me to leave. A (Japanese) man in his early twenties (a customer it turns out) started telling me, in a very hostile tone, to leave and that I was bothering him because Im asking the proprietor why they could not give me a courtesy cup of water with ice. I was there to purchase two servings of soft serve to go. What an impression they have left me with. I was also told that I could go to Starbucks and they would give me ice water. I wonder if my being a Caucasian man had anything to do with why I was treated so poorly.Recent update:On my recent visit I received excellent service and the matcha soft serve was good as ever. Based on this visit I am restoring this to a full five stars.

Chado Tea Room
Inside Japanese American National Museum, 369 1st St, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States
Let me start off with the positive and the ONLY reason this location is getting a one. Simply put, the teas were excellent. HOWEVER, the service we received was the worst service for an eating establishment, I have ever received in Los Angeles. We were there (4 of us on Saturday June 22, 2019) after touring the museum. We walked in, basically not really knowing a lot about teas. And we were treated as if we were exactly that. They reluctantly said we could sit in the corner (not realizing there was outdoor sitting) as there was a very larger party in there as well. The server who finally came ran through the tea menu hurriedly and frankly acted as if he could not be bothered. When he finally came to take our order, I had ordered Jasmine pearls and my friend wanted that too. But he sharply said, No, pick something else! What?! My other friends picked a tea for which there were several choices of its form. But when my friend said one,the server bluntly told him that it was obvious he did not know what the difference between the choices were. He made no attempt to explain what the choices were. My friends ordered the coconut cake for dessert but the cake was inedible. It was dry and obviously sitting around a long time and they got this on HIS recommendation. When the teas arrived, no one asked us if we wanted milk, sugar, or honey. (I wanted and needed honey). No one asked how the teas were or the dessert. We had to ask for the check. No one even asked us anything. We paid and left. My friend left a small tip where as I would have left nothing. That server was rude, obvious, condescending, and a bully. If he was attempting to be funny, WE did not find it funny at all. We shall NEVER return to this location again. I do not know what kicks one gets in belittling people who may not have a full appreciation of teas but wanted to gain a good experience of one. His arrogance was only matched with his rudeness.

Chimney Coffee House
1100 N Main St B, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States
Breakfast here is stellar. Their whole menu is Thai-influenced, so their sandwich selection is unique and really filling! They also roast their coffee and make a lot of other things (such as their sausage patties) in-house which I am always impressed by. The espresso I ordered was a lovely dark roast with strong citrus notes, not for the faint or anti-acidic coffee lover, but absolutely perfect for my tastebuds. Service was friendly and the line wasn't too long. The supervised lot they're located in has l parking out front, but during peak hours I imagine it would be difficult to get in. I came around 10:30am on a Wednesday and it was mostly empty. Plenty of outlets, tables and seating for those who need to work remote. The music volume is reasonable and they were playing a mix of ambient and light trap when I was waiting for my food&drink. The only criticism I can think of is that their coffee prices are at least a $1.25 higher than other coffee houses. Since they roast in-house I would expect it to be lower due to being able to save on costs? I could be wrong though, I've never run a coffee shop so… in any case, definitely worth a repeat or for you to check out en route to work.

Holy Grounds Coffee and Tea
5371 Alhambra Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90032, United States
This is one of my favorite coffee shops of all time, hands down. Whenever Im in the area, I stop by this little coffee shop in the middle of Alhambra and sit in their gorgeous patio. Lots of sunlight, a fantastic fountain, and great ambiance! The coffee itself is really good. It comes from the nearby Antigua coffee house, who the owner (Yanci) grows his own coffee from Guatemala (I think!). The cafe de olla is really good (orange and cinnamon brewed with the coffee!)Also, check out their hidden menu. Ask for the Juan-two-three. You wont regret it if you like coconut water and caramel! The people who hang out here are generally the artistic type, coming from Cal State LA. The owner sells some of their knick knacks in the front. Theres also some classes and meetups at the shop too. If youre looking for a place to work, chill, or meet friends, I highly recommend checking this place out!
