Peets Coffee

I am partial to the peets on mission and 11th in San Francisco- but any one of them is excellant- I should know, Ive had coffee in just about all of them: Oakland, Seattle, Portland. Ironically, all but the very first, in Berkley. See, Peet? He started the whole artisan coffee shop thing, back in the early sixties... and while the man has been dead now for a decade and a half, he still spent about two decades training a master roaster to replace himself with once he retired/died. Truly, you can tell. Of all the chain artisan coffee shops out west (which, in America, is all we have), peets coffee and tea is second place, only to be out-roasted by stumptown roasters in rose city (Portland, Oregon, for those who dont already know.) So far as a menu I item? Try the African or Ethiopian, organic-single-source. Really, its best to stick to what they are already brewing, which in my store is about three different kinds. That change daily. Peru is another wonderful place to grow coffee... and, of course, columbian. Peets regularly stocks all of these plus a French roast that is absolutely to die for. No Italian coffee, which is odd, since cafe is the Italian word for coffee. I suspect they just dont export, preferring to make stellar coffee a reason to visit the Mediterranean. The other thing I really appreciate about peets is how they choose to treat the folks that are homeless. From their perspective, this is always always bad for business, and yet, they choose to do it anyway. As long as you behave and dont smell bad, peets will always welcome you with open arms. Truly, that is astonishing- really, there are not adjectives that could effectively communicate just how cool they are for choosing to deal with this tragic social issue as they do. Heartwarming...

If you're wondering why this spot has 5/5 rating, step inside the coffee shop to find out for yourself! This is easily the best cold brew I've had in SF. Fair price, robust flavor, not watered down at all. Made with a careful process that never touches hot water. Can't wait to have it again.Everything about this coffee shop is well thought out. Very nice interior, with a bar seating in front of a huge open window. Everyone that works here is patient and nice. I got to meet the owner Marcel who is very kind and passionate. They will be expanding their menu soon, only been open for 60 days.Come on down and support this fantastic business. Really a hidden gem in SF, for coffee enthusiasts. Can't say enough good things!
Bello Coffee & Tea
2885 Diamond St, San Francisco, CA 94131, United States
Ive been to Bello many times. None were particularly remarkable except for the beautiful rainbows that fall across the countertop in the evening sunlight - the result of a well-placed, beautiful coffee contraption in the window. Ive lived in San Francisco for a long time, so Im used to rude service being trendy... but I have never had a cordial interaction with any of their employees. The coffee is okay, but I had a bad enough experience there to officially review this place as just meh.We are vegan, and my daughter likes to sip a steamed soy milk while my husband and I drink our cupo. As we were ordering, the guy behind the counter was way more interested in telling his coworker a story than acknowledging our existence. I told him soy two times because I didnt want him to ignore this particular detail - our order wasnt complicated, just two coffees and the kids steamer. Sure enough my daughter took one sip and looked at me in horror as she blurted out what is this?! I opened the lid and it was unmistakably as white as you would expect pus-infused calf hormone growth formula to be. I was angry but calm when I told him Id asked for soy and hed given my child cow juice. His first reaction was defense, saying hed given me soy, but when he looked for himself he did rescind. Oh yeah, hope shes not allergic! was his fake-jovial reply. SMH. This guy is a jerk. My daughter burst out crying and apologizing to the cows.... She was 2 - a 2 year old with more compassion than the guy working there. Ugh, now I get my coffee from Canyon Market. The only reason for two stars instead of one is that fortunately hes not the one working there.

I ordered a couple of large mochas and noticed the lady making my mochas only put in a couple half pumps of chocolate so I asked her if she was making the mochas and she said yes. I tasted both of them before I left the store. Sure enough the mochas were very weak in chocolate flavor. I asked her if she could add a couple more pumps of chocolate and she said “if you wanted more chocolate you could have asked for more chocolate.” Just then the other lady took the cups and put one more pump in while the lady who was supposed to make them with three pumps continued to say she put in three pumps. The one that put in one more pump also chimed in and yelled to me as I was walking out the door, “that's what we do here, we put in 3 pumps”. These two women are transgender and they don't need to be defensive or have such attitude towards customers. All they had to do was say, sorry, let me add some more chocolate instead of taking it personally. Everyone I speak to will be told what a horrible experience it was. I come to this Peet's twice a week and twice this week my mochas were with not much chocolate. I love to see trans people at public jobs but with attitudes that are nice and welcoming, not defensive and rude and making the customers feel that it was their fault.

People working here were very friendly and they all move with a sense of urgency as if each customer were priority. I liked that. More importantly, the coffee was brewed perfectly each time. I love coffee and I know my brew. They capture exactly how I want my coffee to be. Unlike other coffee shops that are more about commercialized coffee and products, this store is the real coffee biz.The ambiance is relaxing, and the people who goes here are mostly either businessmen, students, or coffee-aficionados. Plenty of electronic outlets, plenty of chairs and desks. Over-all, this place is more than decent-- it is excellently managed! I highly recommend it.

I used to work at the Hunters Point Brewery when I first learned of Vasquez Coffee and I fell in love! The coffee was so delicious I could drink it black. I was even more thrilled to find out that the roaster is a Latina woman from the Mission. Now we are partnering and serving her amazing coffee in our new cafe - One Love!

I hate doing this. I expect if I wasnt currently homeless this review would be different. But I am, so here it goes.I can characterize most of the interactions with staff as cordial, helpful and cheerful. The young varieties who work there earn kudos from me for the work they do here. Even the management staff do their jobs in the manner you would expect in an establishment such as this. So why the one star? Because I had asked for some hot water for a French press I purchased from Peets months ago to brew coffee simply because I just cannot afford single cup prices all the time. So I buy a pound of coffee, have it ground for my French press all from the same store. You know what the hell, I might be homeless but I am a loyal Peets customer for years and need a good cup of coffee in the morning. I came in with the press ready and instead of filling up the carafe and providing a complimentary cup like they always do she filled up the carafe with hot water but refused to provide the cup. So I had to fish one out of the garbage can. Since it was used for chain it mage my cup of Major Dickinsons Blend to taste like chai.I hate being treated like I dont belong. I am homeless because of circumstance not because of some personal character defect. Yes, I asked them to do something for free but what they do not see is an old man who is struggling for some sense of normalcy in his life and this morning that cup of coffee meant exactly that to me. And that was taken away from me because management decided to be petty. This was uncalled for. I am not an idiot. I hold 2 engineering degrees and jointly share 3 patents with Eastman Kodak. So I know what Im talking about. While I was with Kodak I was the winner of customer service awards form 2 years in as I row. The most important things about customers is that you must treat ALL CUSTOMERS THE SAME WAY. Everyone must be given that respect that customers get. If the didnt want to give me jot water they should have said so and not play game with my head. I made sure everyone in the store knew that because of management s pettiness I had to pull a cup out of the trash to use.I sympathize with staff on the homeless issue. I dont want anyone to lose their jobs over this, except maybe the store manager who has yet to appear freom the back of the store.I have said enough I think

The stars are for the 3 other staff that helped me get a refund but Koul needs to be fired and never work in customer service. He blatantly and defiantly wears a pin that says “ People Suck” I first encountered Koul a few months ago, saw the pin and politely encouraged him to think about not wearing it and he would not only get better tips, but would not draw negative attention his way. He said, “my manager does not mind.” I thought mentioning how offensive it was would cause him to think about it and he would not wear it. I stopped by today and saw him for the first time in a while, I was not gonna say anything about it but I saw him whispering to his coworker at the warming stove, laughing and she looked at me to see who he was laughing and talking about. She quickly turned her head as she unexpectedly caught my eye. I told the cashier that I normally would leave a tip but as long as employees are allowed to wear insulting badges like his and laugh and talk about the customers with other employees about my concerns, I would not be leaving a tip. He said, “that's ok call corporate if you want, I don't care, “ as he was preparing my mocha. I told him I would and did not want the coffee and I wanted a refund. He smirked as the other workers worked together to figure out the process. WORST EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD AND I'VE BEEN A CUSTOMER SINCE THE 90's AT VARIOUS PEET'S IN THE BAY AREA. Please follow through and make sure your employees are not insulting your valued customers by wearing such insulting pins!

Madonna playing in the background and every single person here doing there own thing: reading, writing, talking and yup drinking their delicious coffee as the soak up the sweet coffee smell of the morning and the ambiance of “I'm in San Francisco b…”. I could not have asked for a better start of my days with my boys. Because for any of you that know and follow me, you know for me it's all about making memories with the people who matter the most and for me, this guys stole my heart since day one and counting BUT enough of the sentimentals and back to coffee darn it!! I had the white chocolate mocha with whip cream and it was delicious!! The boys had cold brews that looked just as yummy and I topped my breakfast with a double toasted almond croissant ? of boy! I'm going to need a good nap after this one or possibly a few more steps in my day ?. Either way it was well worth the calories. So if you're in the mood for a relaxing start to your day, don't think twice come in, order your coffee, maybe a croissant and #enjoy! I know we did. The only thing that would have made it a 5 were cleaner bathrooms. I'm hopeful they'll get better ❤️? ?✌?
