Comment: Update: Virtuoso was once, the higher end, Organic coffee beans that give the coffee a fresh and, most notably, a clean taste that is highly enjoyable. Was one of the best Coffee Roasters in San Diego County. This was my go to roaster for every day coffee. Its changed to Talitha, and I dropped one Star for two reasons: not knowing if the beans are roasted freshly or part of a big batch thats a few weeks old; and, second reason, slow shipping--no beans yet. One plus, Talitha still have a few beans that made Virtuoso, and ordered them. Will they be as good, or even better, I will update. My biggest issue with ever roaster is not knowing type of bean(s), origin, country, etc...

Comment: When in early morning 8am. I waited longer than the drive through at Starbucks. They were not prepared they took FOREVER for two iced mochas. And the whipped cream on them was very sloppy looked like my 6yr old did it. Sucks to wait that long for the area they’re in. Homeless EVERYWHERE

Comment: The service is not what it used to be, the Baristas are not what they used to be. I come in no greeting, no smile. The lattes are not presented how they used to be. Honestly it all went more downhill when Mary left. She was the last good Barista.Ive always come weekly to Virtuoso for more than 3 years. And although the quality of the coffee beans is still great, the service is not. I also miss seeing latte art on the lattes.

For breakfast items, they feature Savory Empanadas and Savory croissants! For sweet tooth’s enjoyment, The Virtuoso Coffee Infused Brownies are delicious, along with various scones and danishes. Comment: Recently visited Cafe Virtuoso. What a great Experience! A wonderful cafe with lovely staff. Their banana bread is definitely a must try. Even the chocolate croissant was amazing. For drinks we tried iced Mexican Mocha and Matcha Latte. It’s a good spot to hangout and get some work done as well. Definitely a must visit.

Comment: I love Cafe Virtuoso. I started coming here because it is conveniently close to my job and it has become my favorite coffee shop. Not only got their amazing coffee but the staff is so friendly. They always take time to make me feel welcomed and remember my order. They even have a rewards program too, which I love! I bought 3 very unique African roasts and just finished the bag of RWANDA. Wow, I rarely pick a light roast but this is scrumptious. Full bodied with a complex flavor profile. I would definitely buy this again. French press for this beautiful roast. Now, on to the next two selections!

Very friendly staff, one of the baristas brought me my drink which I thought was really nice of her. I purchased the Iced Mocha which had a rich mouthfeel. I loved that it came in a mason jar & a metal straw! Trendy yet environmentally friendly. Definitely plan on going back.

Comment: Came here because of the great reviews it had over a couple of blogs. This place totally met my expectations. I had an espresso made of the Virtuoso blend, which was incredible. The staff member that helped me was super knowledgable and made a pretty accurate recommendation according to what I mentioned I was looking for. He also shared they have several courses and trainings! I totally recommend visiting the spot and indulging into some quality beans 👌🏼

Comment: This is a modern coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Its not a traditional space, theres tables, merchandise and storage all in one area. The staff is pretty friendly. The menu is simple, with coffee drinks and some pastries. I got an Americano and one of the berry pop tarts. The pop tart is hard to bite and chew, but that was semi-explained to me. The coffee is pretty standard, its nothing too special. This place is okay for a meeting or get-together.

Comment: This place is consistent. The lattes are reminiscent of a European coffee house. Such great care and pride in each cup. I always find myself sipping very slowly to savor ever second of it. I don’t enjoy overly sweet coffee and I’m generally hesitant to order a flavored coffee but here it’s always done just right.

Comment: This place is cool and has really good tea, Im not a coffee drinker. How ever, I grew up in this neighboorbod and quite honestly it takes away from our culture. The one and only time I was there, it didnt feel too welcoming and I saw a young man get charged a $1 for a small 8oz cup of water....really? The young lady behind the counter didnt seem too happy that he walked in and simply asked for water. Her facial expression simply displayed an unwelcoming and annoyed state. Its sad to see my neighborhood change with these types of business especially when they are not too inclusive.

Comment: Coffee snob I am not, but a friend of mine is a die-hard coffee fanatic and member of the industry. On his behest, we travelled to the gentrifying Barrio Logan neighborhood and sampled a small selection of their offerings. We were greeted by a friendly staff, a warm and well-lit atmosphere, and all of the sights and sounds of a proper coffee shop. In addition to standard coffee and small pastry eats, they offer whole and ground coffee for sale, a variety of brewing equipment, other coffee paraphernalia and a short collection of swag. On site roasting lends to extremely fresh coffee, and their facility is also a SDCTI member and SCA certified facility specializing in training for baristas and roasters.Ok enough plugging: How was the coffee? Unreal. Their seasonal offerings included a blackberry mocha. I cant pass on the unusual, ordered it and was rewarded with an amazing concoction. What do you judge on? The quality of the roast, the balance of the flavor, was the hot drink served properly hot, how pretty the tulip pour was achieved? Honestly I couldnt find a fault. As I said, Im no expert but I enjoy flavor. My friends pour over coffee was hot, bold, and equally delicious.TL;DR: Parking is street only and that kinda sucks, but the coffee and experience are more than worth it. One try and Im sold.

Yeah I could sweeten it myself but I like when things are served exactly the way I like them. I still doubt I would give a five star rating. The next time that I am there I will ask if they will add a little sugar as they are making my cup. I would say that I just dont give five-star ratings. There is always room for improvement no matter how good something is.

Comment: Incredible Coffee and a thoughtful team! My wife and I love to stop in for Americanos and the occasional vanilla latte. All the drinks weve tried are perfect! If this wasnt enough, the coffee shop itself is almost a hidden gem where the baristas get to know you personally. Cafe Virtuoso was love at first sight and now Ive come to love them so much more for their staff, the owners, perfect beans, and an amazing cup of coffee. Ive even had to buy a couple shirts to represent something I believe in so much!

Comment: They roast too dark for my taste. They charge 3.75 for a pour over done by a machine. Thats just slightly fancy drip coffee, you shouldnt charge 3x and you shouldnt call it a pour over. Espresso is decent. The most appeal is that you can see their roast machine in action. Otherwise, easily surpassed by birdrock and zumbar.

Right when you walk in, youll notice how serious this place is about coffee, they have so many different varieties and you can purchase whole beans to take home with you.I tried the cold brew coffee which was the Columbian blend. Ive always found premium coffee of all kinds to hover around the same Yeah, this is better than Foldgers space. Virtuoso absolutely destroys my preconception of what good coffee is supposed to taste like. I got the mocha. It was served at a perfectly drinkable temperature (Big plus for me since my mouth is pretty temperature-sensitive). It was so creamy and smooth. It didnt need whipped cream and an ounce of sugar to hide any bitterness or roughness. It was literally perfect!

It seemed like there might be free WiFi based on a few patrons plugged in working on their computers. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Even when my daughter didnt enjoy her strawberry banana smoothie, they offered to make her something else.

Comment: After trying numerous coffee shops throughout San Diego, Ive settled on this one as my absolute favorite. I always get a mocha and, in my opinion, they make the best mocha of any coffee shop in the city (I cant speak to any of their other drinks as Ive only ever gotten this), and Ive been to a bunch: Clair de Lune, Coffee and Tea Collective, Darkhorse, Krakatoa, Cafe Moto, Cafe Bassam, Cafe Calabria, etc. The seating isnt very spacious (a total of about 6 or 7 tables, each with only 2 or three chairs, plus a couple outside chairs), but only once have I had to wait for a table. The price is about the same as other similarly styled coffee shops - $4.50 plus tax for a mocha - and, I feel its definitely worth it. The parking can be a little tough to find sometimes, but this isnt any different from most of the other coffee shops Ive mentioned. C.V. roasts their own beans, use high quality ingredients, and make a great product. Thus, I will continue going there as long as they do so.

Comment: My husband and I are from Oregon, so we searched for a good roaster in San Diego. Virtuoso is just several blocks outside of the Gaslamp district (took us 10 minutes to walk there). They really care about the roasting process and their Americanos were great.These guys also have a stand at the Little Italy Saturday Mercato, so you can catch them there too :)
