Comment: Ive been coming to Savoy for years now and its progressively gotten worse, in my opinion. Ive always loved their salad bar and they stay pretty consistent with how good it is. Theres been a time or two that the ingredients have been picked over, or things are looking old and wilted. But most of the time its pretty dang good. The only thing that isnt great about the salad bar is how expensive it is. My average small salad is $20! Thats insane to me. Their soups are consistently delicious, as is their carrot cake! Their other sweet treats are pretty darn good too. However, I have tried their hot foods/prepared foods and Im just not ever happy with what I order. Ive tried many things and every time Im disappointed. If you come here, stick to the salad, soup, and sweet treats! That being said, I still dont know if its worth the amount that you pay. I also dont understand why their hours have changed but I enjoyed the later hours!

Comment: I used to love coming to this spot whenever I stopped in Santa Barbara. It has a cozy charm and vegan friendly food; however, its gotten too expensive for what you get. Small portions, high prices. For example, today I spent 50$ for two Vegan Burritos and two cups of coffee to-go, and when I came home I discovered they made the wrong burritos: They were the breakfast burritos (eggs, potatoes, and cheese. My husband and I couldnt even eat them because we are vegan. So there went our money. We certainly wont be eating there again.

Comment: A favorite lunch location. Various options that taste fresh and flavorful, including great salads and sandwiches. Also a nice selection of both vegan and non-vegan baked goods. A small but interesting selection of wines available by the bottle for purchase. Counter and table seating available, with additional patio seating in the back. Prior post-COVID sidewalk seating appears to have been removed.

Comment: Not recommended if you’re a student and/or you have a limited budget. The people are nice, but this is very much a place for wealthier, older professionals. The food is very overpriced for the portion and quality you get. I paid $18 for 1 slice of regular toast, 3 tiny sausages, scrambled eggs, and a cup of fruit. I’m sorry, but unless you’re really into the organic thing, you’re better off finding breakfast at IHOP.

Comment: One of the best quiches I’ve ever had! I had the garden vegetable with Swiss quiche, the texture was perfect. I also had a delicious cappuccino. There are so many options to choose from when it comes to food and coffee. Plenty of seating in front and more seating out back. Parking lot in back of building. Dog friendly, there was a pup sitting in the back seating area with owners. Staff was super friendly. Very affordable- for two people we spent around $40.

Comment: We went because they have lots of gluten-free baked goods. They have a large selection but we have to go back tomorrow for some fresh bread because we went too late in the day they only make it fresh and apparently sell out daily. We bought banana nut bread, a brownie, and an amazing pumpkin muffin. Well be back tomorrow to try the fresh baked GF bread and the GF tabouli!!

Comment: Dont normally leave reviews like this, but I got a terrible case of food poisoning here yesterday from undercooked eggs. I called to let the manager know but they very abruptly said thanks for letting us know before hanging up. No apology, no promise to look into it & make sure it doesnt happen again. So although I hate leaving bad reviews, I feel like I have no choice here. Avoid the food at Savoy unless youre willing to risk severe food poisoning.

Comment: NOT KID FRIENDLY - RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL OWNERI grew up in Santa Barbara and always loved their food and the quality of their food. The staff never seemed to be super friendly but that never kept me from returning.Today I had a very unfortunate experience where I was dining outside in the back patio, 8 months pregnant, with my toddler and my friend and her toddler and baby. Our children were playing like all kids do, next to the fountain and moved a couple chairs, nothing extreme or very disruptive. There were only 2 other diners in the area and we were keeping an eye on them to make sure they didnt get out of hand, as we always do. The owner walked in and in a very disrespectful and condescending way and started telling us off that we had to watch our children and that they werent allowed to do x, y z...I would understand if our children were out of control but they were not at all. To be honest I would expect a little more empathy from another human being. Understanding that yea, kids are not ideal for everyone, but sometimes moms want to get out too and we cant tie up our children. So bottom line, I dont support restaurants that have rude and disrespectful staff and owners and it makes me sad that people cant have sympathy for mothers who are doing some of the hardest jobs in the world.

Not one person who worked their came up to us to ask or see if she was ok. The staff just walked right by us & gave me looks because she was crying. Comment: Gobble Gobble Gobble! A true bite of deliciousness! I’m here in Santa Barb for a month to house/petsit; and thought I’d try something different. This place was featured on Triple D a while back and I checked out if they were still open and serving up the turkey fritter featured on the show. I got mine with a side of the sweet potato au gratin & a roll. This is delicious! It.will.not.disappoint. I get the feeling nothing will disappoint here! So many choices! And the place was hopping, the energy was friendly and relaxed. Really a nice experience. Real china plates and silverware, plenty of choices. I wanted to try everything! They have choices for everyone Vegan, vegetarian, keto, gluten-free, etc. And the vegan choices were so great, I almost did decide not to give this a go; but I did seriously want to try it. And I’ll make my own vegan version from here on out. Sometimes, I just want to be a native. 🥰(Oh, and for me, this is enough for two servings!) Very reasonable at $11.49.

Comment: Splendid. Scrumptious. Spectacular. These are words that start with an S.They are also words that describe the food at Savoy Cafe & Deli... Which also starts with an S.I have yet to purchase one of the $500+ bottles of wine they offer- and it is unlikely I ever will. However, I have sampled a fair amount from their pastry/prepared food cases and fresh from the kitchen fare. Its all good, and much of it is fantastic. It is also reasonably priced, understanding that you get what pay for in this world, and you pay more for quality.Service. Another S-word. The service is excellent, from the owner (she can often be found in the kitchen or at the register) on down the line. Even though Im clearly not part of their higher-class clientele, they never make me feel less for it.So swing on by Savoy for a savory snack or a something sweet!

I was the only POC there, all the white customers were served and well attended. I wasnt even asked if I needed anything in the nearly 40 min I waited .They offered me a free treat?1??? Like that was enough to make up for lost time. And they gave me my refund in cash. It was clear they had no intent in surving me. They made sure the white customers were well taken care of though so theres that .

Comment: Went for a bicycle ride with the wife and decided to stop at Safoy Cafe & Deli, plus had it on my list to try. I was a little worried that it was too foo-foo for me, but I was wrong. When it comes to food I like easy and simple, not a fan of fancy food. They had a lot of of fancy food tho. I ordered a roast beef sandwich on sourdough with mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and cucumbers(foo-foo). When it came I got a turkey sandwich . The waitress said they would make me a new sandwich, but I said Ill eat the turkey. I hate to see food wasted. The turkey sandwich was delicious. All the ingredients tasted so fresh. The bread was great. My wife ordered the Italian wedding soup, the soup was very good, made from scratch. We also got a peanut butter cookie and snickerdoodle cookie, both were very good. I can see why Savoy has such great reviews, all of our food tasted so fresh and delicious.

Comment: I got the huervos rancheros which I got without cheese and subbed avocado. Sadly I was missing the black beans. It was $20 with a coffee. I am still hungry. It was nice to have gluten free options, but I wish I got all the food Id ordered, especially for that price. It was self service coffee, I was asked if I wanted anything and then I had to get the coffee myself while still eating, so my food was luke warm when I got back because of outdoor seating. Beautiful location and cute store

Comment: After having surgery I was super stoked to have an amazing sandwich, but what I got was one of the worst sandwiches Ive ever had. Subway would have been a better buy. The bread was not at all soft i asked for extra mayo since I love mayo, didnt even taste like they put any at all. Nor extra onions as I asked. The sliced meat was ok and at least the veggies were fresh. I did enjoy the hand pressed O.J.All in all Ill never order a sandwich from them again. I will be back for the O.J. and stick to pickles and swiss for my sandwiches.. huge let down

Comment: These people did not make me feel good about myself… this is probably why I rarely ever think to go there. There was a black hair in my food to top off the nasty vibes..... I asked for a full refund which was fine… But I felt the overall energy I got from everyone there wasn’t very kind. Felt like they’d rather be gossiping behind the deli register, which is funny because they’re all guys. Nevertheless I tipped over 20%, it’s just a shame that whoever runs this business doesn’t care about how the staff treats customers.

Comment: Great place for brunch. We were looking for a place that is vegan friendly. Surprisingly, there arent so many restaurants in the downtown Santa Barbara being vegan friendly. (We also have someone in the group who is not vegan/ vegetarian in the group). It was hard to find something that would satisfy everyone. This place is definitely the spot! They have a quite few vegan options and some regular sandwiches or salad. We had gluten free pancakes, veggie scrambled, vegan burritos and el cape which is a grilled portobello sandwich. They were ALL GOOD! The food comes with a huge proportion that I got so full after finish eating the meal. The taste of food was certainly thumbs up. Environment was clean, somewhat crowded. There is an outdoor seating where you can bring your dog to sit there. They also provide water for dogs. So sweet! Id definitely recommend here and come back again!

Comment: Savoy is a cultural landmark in downtown Santa Barbara. Comment: The sandwich that was ordered was not worth the price. I could have gone to subway and have gotten something that would actually sustain me at half the cost and most likely a better taste. A subway sandwich would have also been less of a challenge to eat because the Riviera had the hardest bread known to man, well not really, but my point still stands. The taste was as memorable as a visit back to my high school, the people are nice but there was no substance to it.

Comment: Disclaimer: I have celiac disease and am very sensitive to even minute amounts of gluten. for those like me, I recommend that you go to Lilac instead or, if you must eat here, stick to the salad bar. The salmon there is usually very good, and at the salad bar pricing, quite a good deal. Avoid the beets and sweet potatoes, as they are hard, leathery and undercooked. I wouldn’t dare eat prepared foods here. They make their “gluten-free” things on the same equipment as gluten-containing things. The sandwich bar was scary. I watched them hold wheat bread over the sandwich fixings, spread stuff on with the knife that lives in the spread, pile the toppings on with crumbs dropping down. Yikes. I peeked into the kitchen and it looked every bit as scary. There was a quiche on the work area I saw with crumbs every which way. Flatware sits bowl, blade and tines down in a mini bucket on the table that has crumbs in the bottom. Definitely no consciousness here about sensitive celiacs. Savoys gluten-free offerings are for those for whom the gluten-free lifestyle is a choice. I know someone with a mild wheat allergy who isnt sensitive at all. She usually has to actually eat something made with wheat to get sick. She was massively ill after eating a Savoy deli sandwich and a corn muffin made in Savoys kitchen. They also use bread from our daily bread (last time I checked) which is made in the same facility as all their gluten-containing breads.

Comment: ProsGood, fresh food with lots of vegan and vegetarian optionsYou can try before you buyYummyFamily ownedGreat aestheticYummy matcha latteConsA little on the pricier side but I don’t mind thatParkingThey keep messing up my order. (Details below)The first time was with a group of friends and they forgot to bring out my order. Thankfully I had my receipt to prove I had in fact paid for it and they rectified the situation speedily.During that visit I fell in love with a side of the Blueberry Kale salad. I placed and paid for a bulk order for a few days later. It wasn’t ready when I went in on my lunch break so I had to wait for them to prepare 6 individual salads. That wouldn’t have been so bad, but instead of 6 salads they made me one giant one. So I had to wait some more for them to get the order right. I was late, hungry, and excited to eat it, but unfortunately it was disgusting. They doused it a different dressing from the one they normally pair with the Blueberry Kale Salad. It was inedible. I was super disappointed... forced myself to eat two and ended up tossing the rest.Today, I went in for another to go meal. I bought two vegan burritos with Ranchero salsa on the side. I left happy, got to my car... then realized the salsa was missing. I went back and was peeved because instead of telling me they were out they had just neglected to put it in the bag after charging me extra for it. After I asked, I was refunded the cost of the two sides.Normally I wouldn’t care but these visits have been incredibly frustrating. Basically... Savoy... you are making it hard for me to love you.

Comment: My feelings about this restaurant are mixed. We went for breakfast and were very excited about the food, especially the vegan options for my husband. We sat outside which is lovely. We waited about half an hour before asking about our order. There had been a mistake and the ticket was lost. The waiter was very apologetic and refunded our money in addition to giving us a gift card which we appreciated very much. My eggs Benedict dish was very tasty. My husbands tofu scramble was pretty much raw veggies with crumbled tofu. It wasnt even very warm. We came back the next day and I had their poached salmon which was good but not great. Their cold brew coffee was tasty. We would probably go back and give them another try if we were in town.

Comment: Waterfall is soothing at front entrance. Again airy, natral light.Vegan and non-vegan options.Curry chicken was very moist, not spicy at all. Quite a few options for people who dont do well with dairy. Which I do NOT do well with dairy. Plus farming is the biggest pollution, far surpassing cars. Also have dessert 😊

Comment: Quite a wide selection to choose from. This place is like a blend of a deli counter, a coffee shop and a wine bar. Theyve got hot entrees, prepared meat salads, packaged fruit and yogurt, hot soup, and a full salad bar, as well as coffee, tea, wine, beer, various bottled drinks and delectable pastries. Great service and always friendly. I would highly recommend this place, one of my favorites in the area.

Comment: A large and organic variety of food choices such as soup and salad bar, breakfast quiches, vegan/vegetarian/gluten free homemade deserts, healthy drinks such as lavender infused homemade lemonade, freshly brewed teas, organic coffee, a nice selection of made to order breakfast dishes and sandwiches. Staff is efficient and incredibly friendly, the environment is rustic and cosy. WiFi is available. Comment: I wanted a quick get away from the hectic Los Angeles scene. I escaped to Santa Barbara and discovered many gluten free options. As opposed to Los Angeles I was worried about service issues, overpriced, over cooked food. I came Into Savoy and was greeted with a friendly professional smile and warm welcome, the coffee was hot and the breakfast was amazing and nutritious. The quality of food at Savoy is very palatable and bursting with the correct amount of flavor. Everything is fresh and labeled correctly for those with food allergies. This place is worth every penny and more.

Comment: The food is good. The flow of ordering and paying is not really intuitive or signed. Best salad bar in SB. Good sandwiches. Lots of different types of salads (quinoa, caprese, tuna, etc.) Great options for coffee and other drinks. Cool, semi outdoor seating (open air) in the back. A good spot, but not for a meat & potatoes kinda guy (or gal).

Comment: Wow wow wow. THIS FOOD IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!! Its pricey but WELL worth it! I dont eat dairy or gluten, and had so so so many delicious and healthy options to choose from. If I lived in SB, I would be here allllll the time.We had the turkey fritter (my absolute favorite, so flavorful and moist), beef osso bucco (tender meat and veggies, just a little on the salty side), black rice salad (with sweet potatoes!), and strawberry spinach salad (perfect in between of crisp and wilted). Everything was so flavorful it was hard to slow down. And the tea (blueberry roibos) was spectacular and smooth. And for dessert - paleo, vegan, gluten free and sugar free options galore! And the drink selection 😳wines, teas, coffees, juices, milks, kombuchas, sodas... seriously more options than I could possibly look at.And to top it off, everyone was incredibly nice, welcoming and helpful. Plus an awesome vibe. I would probably drive up from Long Beach just to eat here :)

Comment: Savoy has quality food at a reasonable price off the beaten track in Downton Santa Barbara. It has a really pleasant and relaxing ambience, and is owned and operated by a very nice local family. They have a salad bar (which I have never tried), and a counter where you can choose from a variety of delicious hot entrees, and hot and cold sides and salads. Selections range from comfort food to sophisticated cuisine. They are generous with their portions, too. Their desserts a amazing. Before I went vegan a couple of years ago, the carrot cake was my favorite. However, they also usually offer a couple of vegan dessert options, as well as a vegan entree, and a number of their sides and salads are often vegan. There is easy parking (usually) in the Chapala city lot between Figueroa and Anapamu (there is a back entrance from the lot). You can eat in the restaurant or on a covered patio at the back entrance. Parking on Figueroa can be dicey, so I recommend the lot.

Comment: I LOVE Savoy! Wonderful owners and staff, great food from breakfast through dinner. Were there nearly once a week. Dog-friendly patio, in the shade.BUT, today I was asked if I wanted a bag for my to-go lunch, and was offered the only option of PLASTIC. NOT cool! Please go back to paper. Ill happily pay a nickel for a reusable compostable bag, knowing it will never end up floating around in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

Comment: My husband and I ate at your restaurant in Febuary on a two trip along Southern California. We were staying at San Ysiedro Ranch when we discovered your restaurant. Most of our meals all the way to La Jolla were at very high end restaurants. Our meal at yours was definitely the one I will remember as the best! Everything was so delicious and fresh! We had a wonderful lunch and gluten free desert. I wish we would have had time to come back. Please consider another restaurant in the Vail Valley. You would be a hit! Just what we are all looking for in these scary food days.

Comment: I am in love with this place! I love the fact that they have mostly organic food, both regular and vegan. You can find pretty much everything at this place. Wonderful and fresh salad bar, great bakery. The vibe, decor of the place, the plants, the candles and the nice little touches here and there (of both the restaurant and the patio) make Savoy down to earth yet very romantic and classy. Every detail shows that the owners and staff really care. And, it is very reasonably priced. Cant wait to return!!

Take the other natural cafes out there, add flavor, service, and value, then make it about 200 times better, and you will get Savoy! Thanks!

Comment: If you see my many reviews you can see that most of them are very positive! Well this changes things. From the time we were seated outdoors, to when someone finally figured that we were still waiting was almost comical. Then when we finally did get served they forgot the setups. From then it got worse!! I ordered a turkey sandwich with Brie and well done fries, which I made sure to accentuate WELL DONE. What came was a greasy combination of cold hardly cooked fries and a sandwich that was so gross it was disgusting. I complained and they did bring some more under cooked fries, but they were hot from the grease, dripping out, and came when we were trying to pay our bill ten minutes later. My wifes meal was average at best, The soup was great!! The only thing worse than the food was the amazingly uncaring staff! They say the name is changing to ANDYS NEW YORK DELI, I hope they have new ownership or a different staff!
