Comment: It was 6am at the San Diego airport. The cashier took the order from the customer in front of me and went to the empty register to take my order. I told her what I wanted and then she was distracted by her first customer’s question. She went back to the other register to help him. When she returned back and proceeded to take my daughter’s order and look to us to finish the order. I thought she might be confused so I said we have 2 drinks for 2 people. She said she only had 1 drink. So I repeated my order. She then rattled off the order which I did not understand. So I repeated from the beginning what we ordered. She rolled her eyes on me. Really? $14 for 2 beverages. Peet’s coffee! You need to give better service to your customers, or better training to your staff, or both. I know many of your competitors can and will.

The barista made several drinks at once, mixing and matching various espresso shot amounts, old and new milk that had been overly steamed. I doubt most of the drinks came out as ordered. I had ordered a milk substitute and watched as she filled it with older previously steamed milk from one jug, then topped it off with oat milk to cover it up. Hygiene was atrocious, no attempt to keep equipment clean. Dont waste your money, hopefully the Starbucks is better.

Comment: I used the kiosk just now to purchase a Chai Latte and a Drip coffee. Clicked print receipt and it didn’t print, so I just took note of my order number (37) and went to wait for my order. After a long wait, someone asked the person in front of me what they ordered, they said an espresso and was told they didn’t have espresso. She then said the kiosks didn’t work so I let her know I ordered a drip and a chai latte and was told they couldn’t make chai lattes either and told me I would have to call my bank to get a refund (not ideal when you’re in the middle of traveling). I asked her if she could put a sign on the kiosks to let people know not to order from it and she said “no, we’re not allowed to”. There were quite a few people there waiting aster ordering from the kiosks. I walked away and let some people who were ordering from the kiosk that they didn’t work and they also didn’t have espresso or lattes. Ridiculous that they are just letting people order without telling people they don’t work and they can’t make most drinks!

Comment: The employees were friendly. This place seems busy quite often and when it is, it can take a while to complete your order. Now, ABOUT THE SELF-SERVICE KIOSKS: THEY ARE HORRIBLE!!! The touch screens are non-responsive to most screen taps. It’s a very frustrating user experience! Both of the two kiosks have this problem. Time spent at the kiosk could be 30 seconds but this problem causes people to take 2 to 4 minutes, and some just give up entirely! Meanwhile, the line to order just grows and grows. Fix this and I can change 2 stars to 4.

Comment: Ive never purchased a coffee at Peets. This was a first and probably my last. Catching a plane out of San Diego at 6am (ish), I needed a coffee. I usually frequent Starbucks (obviously) or Dutch Bros. Neither an option here. Went to Peets as it was right in front of my gate. Purchased two coffees (one of my daughter who is a picky coffee connoisseur). I ordered off the menu for my coffee, something similar to what I always get. But for my daughters drink, I opened up my Starbucks app on my phone that shows her drink and whats in it. Thats when it started. All I heard was a lanky male barista going on saying This is NOT Starbucks, this is PEETS, If they wanted Starbucks, they should have gone to Starbucks, I make PEETS coffee drinks here, I was trained to make our menu items PEETS coffee drinks ONLY. So after he was ranting to his co-worker and Im standing right in front of him on the other side of the counter, I called him out. I said that drink your making, I ordered it for my daughter. Shes very picky and your menu is lacking. Trust me, if there was a Starbucks, I would have walked to it, but UNFORTUNATELY, you were our only option. If you couldnt make it, then the cashier shouldnt have rang me up. I gave them 2 stars only because the coffee was decent and my daughter (who missed the show) thought the coffee was a good attempt. One thing about Starbucks and Dutch Bros, their people are always friendly, smiling and kind to you. They may be having a bad day, but they always make you feel welcome and happy you chose them for your coffee that day.

Comment: This place is a complete scam. I ordered a large hibiscus iced tea, which was supposed to be 4 dollars. Listed on the menu clear as day. The cashier told me it came out to 7.51 and I was confused so I asked if there was a price increase. Though even with inflation and all, that would be an absurd price increase for an iced tea. the cashier, Arleth P said she could show that was the price by printing out the receipt. so apparently it was 6.84 plus tax, total of 7.51. I again pointed out that the sign says 4.00, but she didnt seem to care what the sign said. Jokes on me I guess because I ended up paying 7.51 on a drink thats mostly water, I just got it because it was a long day and I was thirsty 🤦‍♀️

When my order got called the guy just said an order number, but the girl at the register didnt give me a reciept, so I asked Is this the pump- and without being able to finish my sentence the male barista repeated the order, but in a very rude way which ruined the experience for me. I, in no way approached him with an attitude. I wanted to make sure I was grabbing the correct drink because I worked as a barista for over 3 years and the most annoying thing would be when a customer would grab the wrong drink then we would have to remake THEIR drink and the other customers drink they took. I understand its stressful being understaffed, already working an early shift, a long line of customers, and that the lady in front of me was being super extra with her order and bothering you, you can even say she was being a Karen, but that does not mean I deserved an attitude when I was just trying to be nice. On the way to her gate she chose to purchase a coffee/tea and pastry from your establishment. She was met with an absurdly rude employee and was treated poorly. I have worked in customer service and food service the majority of my life. You have no clue what people are going through in their daily lives. Those of us who deal with the public on a level which includes serving guests who are arriving or departing on a flight need to be a little more aware and friendly, as traveling for some humans can be a mentally exhausting or an anxious time in their day. I wish I had gotten their names. I work at a different coffee chain and have never tried Peets before, but their service, timeliness, and helpfulness were above and beyond what I expected. They helped me figure out a drink that I would like based on my usual coffee order and it only took a couple minutes to receive my order. The drink is delicious btw!

Comment: I ordered a Hazelnut Soy Latte and I loved it! My coffee was nice and hot! The lady who took care of me was friendly, prompt and got my order just right. People who travels often knows how rare is to find all this in an airport kiosk.

Comment: I ordered two drinks, a white chocolate mocha & a hot coco for my son. The young lady preparing the drinks never looked at me, just talked with her employee about some other employee that was in a fight. I didnt really care just wanted my stuff. Finally got my drinks, the hot coco was coffee, not coco at all. My white chocolate mocha had no white chocolate flavor whatsoever. And I tipped them. Later I regretted that but the tip jar was up front. I will never get another cup of Peets coffee. So just FYI, you could get the same quality from any fast food place for a lot less money.

Comment: Stopped on my way out of town with the family and we ordered for craft coffees. The service was extremely fast and friendly the coffee was hot and well prepared. Definitely better than the other major coffee purveyor.
