Comment: This is a pretty solid Peet’s coffee shop - with all the standard items. There are a lot of independent coffee shops in the area that I frequent, but sometimes it’s nice to go to a place that offers all the standard digital / mobile conveniences of being able to order ahead. That is especially true when you have a dog.Additionally, sometimes Peet’s has very solid seasonal offerings - like the Chicken and Waffle sandwich. That needs to come back.Update - with the autumn menu - the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich is back!

Comment: The male barista gave me my drink by sliding it aggressively towards me instead of handing it nicely. I don’t know if he was racist or not but he gave me side eye when I ordered and customized my drink. It was not a complicated one. Starbucks was too far away so I gave this coffee shop a try by ordering my go-to drink: matcha frappe, add 1 pump of white mocha syrup. Starbucks employees would take a more complicated order without complaining. Never come back to this coffee shop even though it’s only 2 mins walk from my house. The matcha frappe tasted watered-down and bland even though I requested more scoops of matcha.

Comment: As a regular fan of Peetz Coffee, I was surprised at how horrible the service and drinks were at this location. I purchased a double shot of espresso with water which came only as espresso, seeming more like a single than the double ordered. At first, I didn’t say anything or complain because they seemed busy and honestly I was primarily going there to use the bathroom. A sign posted just next to the bathroom door said a purchase was required for use. The door has a lock requiring a numerical code with a symbol. When I asked the cashier for the code to the door, they gave an impartial code (3578) without the * at the end. The full code is 3578*. After trying the initially incorrect code provided to me and unsuccessfully getting to use the bathroom, I went to stand back in line and ask for the code again. As it became my turn in line, another person walked into the restaurant who had not waited in the line. This new customer asked for the bathroom code and proceeded to use it without purchase and stayed in the bathroom for about 15 minutes in total not making noises like they were using the bathroom, expiring the time on my parking which was costly (like $1.50 for 25 minutes or so). Another employee knocked on the bathroom door asking if everything was alright. The person came out about 5 minutes later. I then used the bathroom which was not surprisingly very dirty and thankfully just had to pee, all in the span of about 30 seconds, rushing because another person was waiting to use the bathroom behind me (the next person seemed to have waited around 3-5 minutes).

The staff were super nice at this Peets especially the reddish haired man who made our drinks, and the black haired cashier who recommended this sandwich when I learned the chicken and waffle one was seasonal and their choice of replacement was good. The person at the counter nicely gave me the own cup discount of $0.10, charged me for new cup of coffee... I get you cant refill my cup. Refill normally costs $1. If cup only costs $0.10, how does this at all inspire loyalty to your customers. I questioned this. I was told Dont harass me, I already have enough things to deal with. What a nasty attitude for a barista to have.Peets, this location seems to be price gouging and they give you attitude when questioned? If this is supposed to inspire brand loyalty from home base, I think you need a new Manager of marketing. Taking advantage of people during a pandemic is not something we should be doing.

Drinks were fast and as ordered and the bathrooms and general sitting area were clean. Limited metered street parking. This is very close to both Peoples Park and the UC Berkeley campus so a wide mix of people from families to students to a large unhoused population wander in and out.

Comment: Internet always slow with cheap low budget Internet from Earthlink. They have the sauna-like steamy environment under control now. Staff is friendly and polite.Homeless or nomadic types are abusing the store facilities, and some often cause disruption, especially ones tripping on hard drugs. Peets is so popular among these types now, to the point that now theres occasional small homeless encampment beside the café on the sidewalk.

Comment: The coffee here is my favorite.Ive tried Americano, but it has a nice scent and is smooth. Im sorry I havent tried other coffees.Looks like youll enjoy this simple dessert.
