Comment: Very nice coffee shop. Great alternative to the Starbucks with no indoor seating. However, vagrant camped out inside the coffee shop without purchasing anything, talking up a whole table.

Comment: Great tasting coffee and vibes from this little coffee shop! The customer service is spectacular and there is a nice little seating area to stop and have a chat or work a bit. The food also looks great which I have yet to try but one day may grab a pastry. Highly recommend the burnt cinnamon latte or iced blackstrap latte. Delish!!

Comment: I walked in and was greeted right away. I loved the energy of the beautiful young ladies. Very sweet. I got the burnt cinnamon latte and it was nice and lite, & perfectly sweetened.

Comment: I love modern coffee! This location is very convenient for me so I stop in often - I just wish they were open in the afternoon for a pick-me-up! I like that they have special touches - such as their lavender syrup made in-house - that you can add to your drink.

Comment: Oakland has an amazing coffee scene and modern coffee is definitely one of the best. It is located across from federal hall and they have the best Cardomom Chai ever. Even though Starbucks was around the corner, is definitely come here again. Free wifi and power outlets available but seating is limited.

Comment: Great chai. 2 flavors that are each stellar. I get a 50/50 blend because i like both so much and cant choose. Go early as pastries run out early. This means they are always fresh.... no day old muffins..... bring your own cup please.5 star rating if there were seating options for morning visits. Always packed with meetings and gabbing.

Comment: My new favorite coffee establishment. It’s so nice to get a break from the madness of Starbucks. It’s so chill here. The service here is awesome and they offer great tasting coffee. Right now I am having a peppermint, ginger tea. Cold day, tea... great combo.

Comment: Modern Coffee third location is located across from federal building and post office on Clay St in downtown Oakland. This location is also smaller than the other two with a few tables inside and two tables on sidewalk. Worker are outgoing no matter whats thrown them. Nothing different here just same as usual with TCHO, Awesome Bar, Chromatic Coffee etc. Good for quick bite during your commute or midday break. Open M-F from 7am-4:30pm only.
