Comment: I recently had the pleasure of indulging in the exquisite offerings from Lokum Turkish Delights & Baklava, and I must say, it was an experience to remember. From the moment I opened the beautifully packaged box, I was greeted with a delightful array of colors and aromas that promised an authentic taste of Turkey. The baklava was equally impressive. Layers of delicate, flaky pastry interwoven with finely chopped nuts and sweetened with a perfectly balanced syrup created a symphony of textures and flavors. The pistachio baklava stood out with its rich, nutty filling and crisp, golden layers. The syrup was not overly sweet, which can often be the case with baklava, allowing the natural flavors of the nuts and pastry to shine through. Each piece was a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail that goes into making traditional baklava.Lokum Turkish Delights & Baklava offers an authentic taste of Turkey with high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes. Highly recommended for anyone seeking delicious Turkish sweets. Ill definitely be back for more!

Comment: What a pleasant to walk pass this amazing Turkey cafe, decided to have a turkey coffee and a little bit cake. The place is more than a cafe, a large variety of coffee, dessert and souvenirs to enjoy and choose. The fit out is full of Turkish colours and elements. There are a few tables for people to dine in. The shop is located at the main shopping street of Santa Barbara town centre.

Comment: Lokum (Turkish for turkish delight) is Tje Place to go for the most authentic tasting turkish delight Ive had in the states. Everything tasted fresh and quality. I got a mixed box of a few different kinds to try, but my favorite was the rose pistachio! I wish this place was closer to where I live, but I will definitely stop in again next time Im in the area. Comment: My first time in Lokum, recommended by my children. Upon walking in, you instantly fall in love with the ambiance. Walls of tea, drink mixes, Turkish coffee pots. All the gentleman behind the counter were very friendly and helpful!Rows of beautiful, colorful Turkish delights and other desserts that were just as tasty!I’ve never had Turkish coffee before, so I was surprised when I ordered a small. It was the cutest espresso sized to go cup I’ve ever seen! The taste was different, earthy. But delicious!I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town for more of the rose petal, and pick up lots of other flavors !!

Comment: It is a very impressive sweets shop. The lanterns are whimsical and the decorations inviting. The variety of sweets is overwhelming! The Turkish coffee is served in a traditional style with a pice of lokum and a bit of water. Prices are exorbitantly high, but if you want a delectable treat it might be worth your while.

Comment: Very friendly and attentive service with a clean organized interior, reminiscent of Istanbul. The Turkish coffee was excellent. Unfortunately, the lokum/Turkish delight was stale, hard and gummy. Ive had plenty of Turkish delight that was fresh, soft and wonderfully tasty. Unfortunately, I cannot say that about the ones I had from this shop. I have gone there in the past with the same experience - great service and coffee, but tough chewy lokum. Great staff !

Comment: What a fantastic and unique place. I come here every time I visit SB. The gluten free Turkish delights are the perfect dessert: sophisticated flavors, not too sweet, bite sized, and beautiful. Try the rose and saffron—my favorites! The baklava is also very worthwhile and the varieties are delightful to try. Atmosphere is beautiful, comfortable, and memorable with lovely beverages to enjoy. The cashiers are engaging, attentive, and kind. This business sets such a good example excelling in product, service, and atmosphere. Keep it up!

Comment: Just by chance we happened to stop by this place as we parked on the street across from Lokum mainly so we could grab lunch somewhere on the street. The store from outside looked very inviting and seeing numerous varieties and flavors of Turkish delights was definitely a place we had to check out.Turkish delight - We were just amazed at the amount of flavors and I was like a kid in a candy store especially as they had a good variety that were suitable for vegetarians or vegans. We must have tried most of the vegetarian and vegan varieties and most of them were very delicious and not very sweet. A little pricey but we still picked up a few pounds between all 5 of us in the group. They also had tea/coffee and Baklava. We did not have any of that as only 1 or 2 baklava items were suitable for vegans/vegetarians (many had eggs). Anyway we were going to have lunch so did not regret not having food hereService - very friendly and helpful. They were patient as were asking many questions and sampling many varieties. None of the servers seemed fazed by our questions and wanted to ensured all our questions were adequately answered. It was a true service with a smile place.Ambience - very nicely decorated place. The tea and coffee area was so nicely decorated. Plus they had very nice chandeliers throughout the store. We must have spent an hour or so n the storeIf you are in the area, definitely visit this store. You will not regret it. Even if you do not like Turkish delight, just seeing all the colorful varieties and experience the nice store ambiance and the amazing customer service

Comment: We used to live in SB and used to go Lokum and we always had this problem of this rude service. After years, we recently visited SB again and we wanted to give them another chance. Well another disappointment again, the rude way of approaching customers, accusing the customers for their earlier complaints about their service and attitude. Even when I look at their responses to customers here, the rude attitude is still there. You own a shop in the riveria of California and you should learn from complaints of your customers. You dont have to prove that your customers thoughts or feelings are wrong, but should learn from them and improve accordingly. As you can see we dont talk about your prices or quality of your food, these are other points to discuss, but we are talking about the most important things while servicing your customers, KINDNESS and RESPECT. If you lack those we dont even have to talk about the rest.

Comment: I recently visited a Turkish bakery in the area and was rather disappointed with the experience. The prices were much too high for what was being offered. The food, unfortunately, lacked the authentic taste I was expecting from a Turkish bakery. Moreover, the overall vibe and offerings felt somewhat inauthentic, giving off a sense of being a fake representation of what a genuine Turkish bakery should offer. I hope the bakery takes steps to improve the authenticity of its offerings and considers pricing its items more reasonably to align with the quality and taste customers expect from a place representing Turkish cuisine. Comment: 5🌟 might be biased. The place made me wanna retire to Turkey & eat candy & drink their coffee for the rest of my life. Saturday was busy so my friend & I had to go back the next day. They have this rose/pomegranate/pistachio nougat candy (the only thing were able to try Sat). I dont like the smell of red rose (assuming it was red) but it tasted delicious... so I bought it after telling my friend that I wasnt gonna. Sunday, we tried more candy flavor, but I want to buy it all that I didnt waste my time wondering if this and that taste as good as they sound. Then my friend bought coffee bec the cup they serve it with (if u dine-in) looks so cute. She tried Ottoman, it was like mocha coffee to the 10nth power. It was a delight to taste. My friends and I got into talking how in other countries drinking coffee is a moment to have and cherish whereas here in the U.S. almost everything is grab and go. Anyway, I mentioned that so when you visit Santa Barbara, visit Lokum, have a moment with yourself (or whomever youre with) and cherish the day. ✌️

Comment: Been to Lokum many times and had nothing but good experience but yesterday was absolutely meh.First of all, very disappointed that they no longer serve kunefe (katmer too, but I didn’t even get to try it). If you don’t serve an item anymore, please remove it from the menu and outside advertising? Although I truly thought that’s what made your shop so special to me.Secondly, despite this, decided to stay yesterday to have baklava. I ordered first — tea and juicy walnut baklava, the employee went and got me a slice. Then my sister ordered — she said earl grey tea and pistachio baklava. The employee just ran off and got her I don’t know which type but it looked identical to the one I got. After being asked which baklava is which, the employee first said “they are the same”. We told him we didn’t order the same thing. Then he changed his answer and pointed to one of the plates saying “this one is walnut” in a very annoyed tone. Not good service, do better. Both were walnut type by the way.

Comment: Honestly, not impressed with baklava at all! It is nothing but syrup:( I have just returned from Turkey and of course, after I tried real baklava, I wouldn’t come back here. Probably for tourists, this is a good alternative to packaged baklava. Btw the location is superb and beautifully decorated, but it doesnt justify the high price of low-quality desserts served with a plastic fork.

Comment: Finally got to visit one of Lokums stores. First off, this cafe store is gorgeous inside with its large unique chandeliers. Apparently, they have a home goods store in Santa Barbara. The desserts here are all imported overnight from Turkey. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but you can sample them to buy by whatever size you like. You can also order Turkish or non-Turkish coffees/teas. The dessert here is probably twice more expensive than what weve found in other Mediterranean shops, but there is so much variety and the fact you can sample takes the guesswork out of what you buy. They have the gummy like honey sweetened Turkish delights, but what we really enjoyed were the cream like Turkish delights which were new to us.We also liked the various flavors of baklavas and halvas.Favorites included Pistachio covered hazelnut Turkish Delight and Rose Pistachio [email protected]

Comment: Was super excited to find this place out of pure coincidence. Baklava, when done well, is one of my favorite desserts. Walked in and they had a huge selection of baklava, delights, and drinks. Lining the walls of the boutique was lots of different coffee bean brands and drink wear you can’t find anywhere else. One of the employees was quick to greet and help me out. I kept it simple and ordered just 2 pieces of the traditional pistachio baklava. He went to ring me up and I was shocked to see for those two little pieces, it came out to $6. There’s tons of places I know where I can get an entire tray for $25. Doing the math, it would’ve cost me $108 to buy an entire tray from Lokum. I get it, this is a fantastic location, they have really nice packaging, and they’re selling a “premium” product but it’s just too expensive for what it is. Hey at the end of the day, we’re in beautiful downtown Santa Barbara, there’s plenty of people that’ll happily pay for these delicious desserts. Give it a try for yourself!

Comment: Terrible pastry. I’m not one to complain but this one I am. I asked if I can get a coffee instead of the baclava and the manager was a complete d*** & said no. The food was terrible & he wouldn’t give a cup of coffee. Also the pieces were super small and I think they weighed the box so I paid 7.47 for two tiny pieces. Watch out for the weighing portion…

Comment: Stumbled upon this place on our way back home to the Inland, had always heard about Turkish Delight from movies and TV but never got a chance to try them. This place allows sampling (just the candies), so we got our hands on some of the best tasting treats ever (we prefer the Tiramisu, Rose Pedal Pomegranate, Saffron Pomegranate, and Chocolate Chip Covered Pistachio Cream as they are not overly-sweet and have the right amount of chewy texture to it). After this visit, I and my family tried finding similar style sweets in our area and online, unfortunately those either don’t compare at all, or have much fewer selections than LOKUM offers. At this point, I would say this place makes the best Turkish Delight one can get in the US. Perfect for gifting and self-indulgence.

The shop is so beautifully decorated, staff is very friendly and ready to help and of-course the delicacies are very presentable and mouthwatering. We tried a few samples (yes, they do offer samples so that you know what you are buying) and went for the traditional pistachios Baklava. The shop also sells decoration items and canned coffee products. Comment: My wife and I first went to Santa Barbara together in 2020. We were walking along State Street, and we noticed this store. My wife had traveled to Turkey, but I have not. I heard of Turkish Delight, but I have never tried it. We went into the store, and the architectural elements were amazing. It looked like we were in a shop in Turkey. We bought 3-4 different varieties of Turkish Delight, which had rose petals, pistachios, pomegranate, and some other nuts and fruit. They tasted absolutely delicious! It is a great dessert after a meal.We came back to Santa Barbara in late August 2021 and yesterday, and we had to stop into the shop to pick up some more Turkish Delight. It was that good. They only have the one location, but you can order more through their website. When you are in Downtown Santa Barbara and need a treat, make sure to stop at LOKUM. I definitely recommend it.

Comment: We came up to Santa Barbara for the day and we were just hanging out checking out the local sites and eating everything that sounded good to us. Our last stop before we headed home would have to be a coffee spot. Weve had this spot on our must try list for quite a while. They happen to make a particular candy that one of our local coffee shops gives with every coffee order. We decided to try some pistachio baklava and some Turkish coffee. My girlfriend has had Turkish coffee before but I have not. The baklava was excellent and it was very similar to my favorite baklava in Orange County. Im pretty sure that baklava I like from Orange County is homemade for a particular coffee shop we like. I discovered that Im not a fan of Turkish coffee. It was a bit too bitter for my liking but I can definitely tell that it was quality coffee. Its just not for me. I should have tried the type that has chocolate in it. The presentation was great though. It feels like an experience rather than just coffee. The service here was great. Everybody was very friendly to us from the moment we walked in. I can say that they are a very honest crew here as well. It had been a long day for us and we were ready to hit the road. We were in such a hurry to do so that my girlfriend left her purse behind. By the time we realized it was gone it had been about 20 minutes. She quickly called LOKUM and they had her purse safely set aside for our return. Nothing was missing. You just never know these days when you do something like that if youre going to even find the purse or if its going to have missing items. Thank you to all the employees for being honest. You guys are awesome.

Comment: Beautiful, breathtaking decorations. The store is a sight for sore eyes, a place that one would chance upon in Paris along a high-end quartier. Baiting you with tastes of each treat, its impossible not to buy a slice of rose, pistachio Turkish delight or a few baklavas. These sweet, chewy delights are meant to be partnered with a cup of tea or a glass of Turkish coffee to savor each bite and sip. Ready-to-grab bagged teas and tin containers of coffee in a variety of choices line the walls with persuasive whispers for you to purchase.

Comment: Lokum is a beautiful, Old World style Turkish coffeehouse with a large and eye catching selection of baklava, Turkish Delight and Halvah. The interior features chandeliers with long glass counters running the length of the cafe, filled with a colorful array of confections. If I recall correctly breakfast is served in the mornings with seating outside and a couple tables inside. The baklava is relatively light compared to what Ive had elsewhere; the honey comes across as quite thin with an overall slight citrus taste. The Turkish Delight is well done here. I would argue that they offer a greater variety of the Turkish Delight compared to baklava, but in either case, both are delicious. Prices are moderate to expensive regarding their baklava and Turkish Delight. Expect to pay between $40 and $80 for either a small or large box, though there is apparently a medium available ($60?). Service is polite and generally friendly.

Comment: Well worth a visit! (3.5 Green Stars)We went into Lokum just to use the restroom and honestly I thought at first that it might be just a tourist trap kinda place. However, we sat down to sample some of the inventive Turkish delight rolls ($16 for around 6 pieces) and then went back for more, going a little overboard ($35!). However, one month later, we are still enjoying the selection – one piece at a time is enough for my sweet self – and they are still fresh and delicious. The rose-petal-covered-nuts-and-pomegranate and the hazelnut-almond-cream are two definite favorites. The café itself is beautiful and worth stepping into just to imagine that you are visiting an exotic place, “full of eastern promise” (that was the slogan for Fry’s Turkish delight, which bears no resemblance to the real thing!).It’s helpful that Lokum publishes ingredients on their website. Here’s a typical list: Water, Sugar, Starch, Coloring E124-E100-E141-E110, Nuts, Aromatic, Cream. Many of the colors used are actually pretty natural (e.g., chlorophyll or turmeric-derived) although some (E124) are synthetic. Would be nice to know what the ingredient “aromatic” means, but I guess that it’s probably derived from spices and/or fruit.I also talked to a staff member, asking if the marshmallow listed in one of their rolls is made from gelatin, and he told me that it’s plant-based (made from sugar) and gave me a sample of it.I’m giving Lokum 3.5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact, for these reasons:• This provides a nice alternative to over-packaged, over-processed “candy” from destructive multinational corps (I’m talking about all of you – Nestlé, Mondelēz, Hershey, Godiva, Ferrero, etc.)• When buying them in-store, Turkish delight is delivered in a simple cardboard box – recyclable or compostable. They even let us use our box a second time to buy the second batch!• Most of the Turkish delight rolls are vegetarian (contain cream) while the traditional Turkish delights are vegan. None of them that I could see contained gelatin, so they are all vegetarian (rolls) or vegan (traditional squares).• Honestly, there’s a benefit to opening people’s eyes to cultures that they may have been previously unaware of, or even biased against.• Ingredients are provided but it would be nice to provide more information on sustainability or social impact of these ingredients (i.e., some more info on sourcing of nuts, sugar, etc.).• Similarly, the teas and coffee lack certifications and info on sourcing. The coffee beans come from Brazil, where farming is usually industrial and very little coffee is shade-grown. If Lokum supported coffee and tea with a positive social and environmental impact, I would be more likely to have a coffee there.

Its super fresh and incredibly flavorful. I absolutely loved the chocolate hazelnut and traditional one- but honestly i tried a piece of every single one and they were so mind-blowingly good. Their Turkish Delight is also super tasty, fresh, and unique. I loved the Banana Chocolate flavor. I only had the coffee halvah and it was very tasty too. Comment: A little pricey, but the Turkish Delight was delicious and the variety was broad. Nice traditional flavors and presentations as well as more creative versions too. I particularly like the rose petal pistachio one. The interior decor was beautiful as well and the staff were very personable and gave generous samples. The Turkish coffee was alright too.

Comment: A fantastic stop for us - went back for a second round the same day! Stopped in to browse, got caught up in the beautiful and comfortable setting, sipped a Turkish coffee, and tried a few samples of Turkish delight. Bought a few for the fam and had a nice conversation with Hamsa about the different offerings and tips on making Turkish coffee at home. Went back later with fam for tea and Hamsa couldnt have been friendlier, welcoming us like family and offering samples of different varieties of Turkish delight, making sure to tell us about each one and pointing out which ones are dairy free. We sat down for tea and he brought us a few samples of baklava - it was all SO delicious! We bought a pound of Turkish delight for the family for Christmas and had a hard time stopping there. We also met Levant, who spent all the time we wanted telling us about the offerings, the store, plans, and tips on visiting Turkey. They (and all the staff) were so friendly and helpful - both times we ended up hanging out longer than we planned. The store is tastefully decorated and well organized. It was a pleasure to spend time there. We will definitely return and recommend most highly that you check it out - you wont be sorry!Frank, Beth, Katherine

Comment: Ive enjoyed the products at Lokum previously. They have a stylish interior and an impressive selection of baklava and Turkish Delight. Unfortunately, the service today was abysmal. Seeing as there were no other patrons waiting, I asked to confirm what treats would be appropriate for vegetarian consumption. After explaining what that meant to the two employees, one walked away with a look of frustration exclaiming, thats too complicated. The experience left me confused and frankly annoyed. If there was a line I could understand but I was literally the only waiting customer. I left without purchasing and it is unlikely I will return.

Comment: So happy we stumbled upon this AMAZING shop in downtown SLO. It is one of the most beautiful shops I have ever been in. From the hanging Turkish chandeliers to the Turkish Delight to the Turkish Coffee and decor, this is a must see, must drink and must eat experience. The staff is incredibly polite and informative. If you can go at night, the lighting and setting is even more spectacular.. Truly, you do NOT want to miss this experience.

Comment: Great place! The store itself is beautiful and clean with a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere. The baklava and Turkish Delights are equal parts delicious treats and edible art. The coffee is smooth and served on a tray that makes it an experience (make sure you drink it there…don’t order to go!). Best of all, the staff is very friendly and full of excellent recommendations (which is how I learned that you should enjoy the coffee there haha). I came twice in one week, and the owner (I think?) recognized me (even with a mask) and chatted with me. They definitely made me feel like a valued customer. You can tell that they love their store and serving customers. Can’t say enough good things!

Comment: This place was absolutely gorgeous. It was really beautifully decorated and very clean. I wasnt sure what to order, but the guy was friendly and gave me some recommendations. I ended up ordering the Ottoman coffee. It was really smooth and definitely was a different flavor from other coffees that I have tried. I also ordered a baklava with it. Everything was fantastic. They even gave us some type of candy, complimentary, once I got my order. Overall, would recommend trying out this place.

Comment: Though I have not been to Turkey to be able to have a basis of comparison, I must say that these confections are addictive and well made. I had a pre-conceived notion that they will be cloyingly sweet, but they are not. Albeit, really enjoyed the 6 varieties I ordered. My order was delivered on time and the quality of the product is very fresh and delectable. I hope they will offer baklava on line again which I know will not disappoint. Well done!

Comment: I was unfamiliar with Turkish coffee, this was my first experience. The taste was not like other coffee Ive had but still very pleasant, until I got to the last sip - I did not know the grounds were at the bottom of my cup 😅. If this is your first time watch out for that last bit, a mouthful of grit is not pleasant, especially if you dont have a bottle of water nearby. To the owner - I wouldve liked the barista to ask if it was my first time having Turkish coffee and offer a few tips & maybe explain a few key details before I began my journey.

Comment: I have never tried or tasted the candies from Turkey before but walking by this store something told me to stop in for a look. I wasn’t disappointed, because what they have in store was very tempting and looked so good. Store located in Main Street, and very close to the beach area. It was also well known for the locals and popular with tourists. The store was cleaned, well organized, with beautiful products displayed. You could see the very colorful presentations of their deserts. The store is also selling their country tasteful, and deep flavor Tea. We bought some of their delicious candies home and sampled others before we buy. The services here were very friendly and helpful. The prices were a little pricey for regular folks, but it was nice to try out the foods from different places around the world.
