Comment: Seating is limited. The environment is open and. The staff is fine. This is an order at the counter type of environment. Nothing negative co.e to mind, but they are missing something to hit the 5 star mar. 🌟 its just a feeling. But overall, nice place. I would co e again.

Comment: Nice outdoor seating area though tables were dirty. Coffee was not that good. The breakfast croissant however was. Eggs were fluffy and moist, chicken sausage tasty, and the tomato jam topped it well. Witnessed some unhygienic behavior by one of the batista.

Comment: The avocados with the meal was a bit salty but still good. Cappuccino and Turkish latte was excellent. Service was excellent. Everyone there is on top of things and making sure you have everything you’ve ordered. They clean the tables quickly so the next customers can have a spot. There is plenty of cute dogs that come in. I love seeing the cute little pigeons walk around looking for a little scrap too!

Comment: Very friendly and peaceful cafe in little italy, the cashier and people working there were very nice to us. Very dog friendly for our two small dogs. They have cold water for anyone who wants with his coffee. The pastries and coffee were good just pastries could use less butter.

Comment: We ordered coffee and a banana bread to eat in house. I specifically asked for ceramic mugs and I got mouth burning coffee in a sad paper cup and a cold cold banana bread in a paper bag. I know it sounds petty but paper completely ruins the flavor for me. Oh, and they basically forgot the banana bread we didn’t get it until much later.

Comment: I had a Guatemalan pour-over based on recommendation of a barista there.I’m an espresso purist, never had pour-over before. But it was a pleasant surprise. The coffee was light, but had smooth and creamy body. As it cooled off, the hint citrus started to emerge.I didn’t finish the whole cup, but enjoyed it very much. The pastries section look good but didn’t try them. The outside seatings are nice if you like to catch some sun mid day, otherwise the seats inside the shop will do.

Comment: Cute Little Italy neighborhood coffee + pastry shop with great outdoor seating. I tried the Turkish Latte and it was the perfect balance of bitter/sweet. The sausage, egg, and cheese croissant was a great breakfast option. The patio was the star of the show, offering a breezy, shaded spot to catch up with friends or get some work done.

Comment: Atmosphere is great for a weekend hang! Visited on a chillier day and the patio was so refreshing. Very cool vibe. Food was pretty good, coffee was just okay. Got the specialty cold brew which was fine, but not really worth the $8. Overall, would return, just might try something else next time!

Comment: Coffee fact: While Brazil may grow the most coffee, Finland drinks the most coffee!A New Orleans Iced Coffee ($6.60, 2% Milk), an Iced Hibiscus Blood Orange drink ($4.00), two Lemon GF cookie ($4.50 ea.), and three Salted Chocolate Chunk Cookie ($4.00 ea.) were order. I was going to see my niece later that evening and she was going to be given a salted chocolate cookie and one of the lemon cookies but Im a terrible aunt and really liked the salted chocolate cookie so I kept all three for myself. ;)They have a window area to see into the kitchen if youre interested in watching them make their baked goods. I will admit that the drinks werent it though. The New Orleans Iced Coffee tasted watery and the Iced Hibiscus Blood Orange drink wasnt balanced with it leaning more towards hibiscus than blood orange. Oh well. You can tell this is a well-loved spot in the neighborhood. There was even an adorable dollface Persian kitten sitting in the patio that looked as pleased as can be being outside Lofty Coffee Cafe and Bakery. Stop in, grab a cuppa, and enjoy a leisurely stroll down Little Italy.

Comment: Ordered two food items and two coffee’s, the food items came out in about 10 minutes yet I was still waiting for my coffees, they were getting out peoples coffee who were about 10 people behind me in line. I asked finally after trying to be patient and the barista said I was 3rd. So still 3rd to be made after about 30 minutes for two coffee’s? You have better luck getting your food here and coffee from Starbucks or better yet hire a Starbucks barista 🥲

Comment: Great atmosphere, but we had a disappointing experience due to the Barista. She messed up every single food order we placed. They werent listening to the full list of orders, instead walked back and forth to the kitchen during my order.Mistakes bound to happen, but felt so rushed and restless throughout my time there. For the great reviews and wonderful ambience, I wish I had a better experience.Response for the owners comment:I did politely mention when there was a first issue on the order. It was during the subsequent concerns, I felt its important to write a review. Choosing this as the first place of visit on my weekend short trip was due to an expectation that online reviews built.I visited the place seeing the reviews and the ambience was amazing indeed. But its necessary that I highlight a difficult experience, I had, for future viewers. Wish you all the best too!

Comment: S.L.O.E eggs. That’s all that needs to be said and tried. They are so soft and flavors of a pure egg folded to a perfect thickness. Come for breakfast or for brunch it’s 100% worth your time.Croissant was that accompanied the egg (the star of the show) was decent too. Chicken sausage was also fresh and didn’t taste like it came from an industrial factory.Has good outdoor seating that’s not directly in the sun.

Comment: I initially came here for the selection but found myself opting for a cup of Hot Organic Golden Milk prepared with oat milk instead. The beverage was a delightful surprise, boasting a creamy texture with subtle sweetness and a hint of ginger. The cafe offers an serene ambiance with a tidy setting with spacious tables. Its evident that many of the the customers engage in various activities, from using their laptops to reading or studying.Service was prompt, with my drink quickly delivered to my table, and the staff actively maintaining cleanliness throughout. The cafes pet-friendly policy and expansive menu spanning all-day breakfast and lunch options are noteworthy, showcasing a diverse and satisfying array of choices. While I had already eaten elsewhere and only intended to indulge in their coffee, Im inclined to return and explore their coffee offerings and diverse menu.

Comment: My jaw should not get tired eating a “croissant” but when it has the texture of a two day old biscuit one is not surprised. Funny thing is they actually went into the back to get the croissants. So they chose to sell yesterday’s? (or the day befores )croissants. 25$ for two very small coffees and two biscuits is a very steep price for the quality received.

Comment: I really appreciate that they had vegan options, I just wasnt very satisfied by what I ordered. The Ancient Grains bowl had good produce and good vegan cheese but came with little dressing (tasted pretty much like olive oil). The seasonal squash was just steamed zucchini, plain. The Farro was plain too, I needed to ask for salt. My friend ordered the power bowl and had a similar experience. I think the current menu options would be great if they just used seasoning and more flavorful dressing or sauce.

Comment: Beautiful cafe with plenty of outdoor seating. However, the coffee itself is subpar and the wait is long. It took 15 minutes for them to start making our black pourover coffees and they also rushed the technique, not waiting for the grounds to bloom. The pourover coffees were almost $10 USD each (after tips and tax) but ended up tasting like Folgers instant coffee. Not worth the price or wait.Edit: The response from the cafe reinforces the poor customer service - instead of taking feedback and understanding the issue that is being flagged by the customer, they are pointing the finger at the customer instead. For the owner, please note that we spoke to the baristas after waiting 10 minutes for our pour over coffees. Upon speaking to them, it took another 5-10 minutes for them to start preparing the drinks. We did not have the chance to request a remake because it would have likely taken another 20 minutes and we did not have the time to wait a total of 40 minutes for 2 pourover coffees.

Comment: Overall, a nice spot. Coffee was well-done - salted caramel latte was tasty, and great patio with a view to enjoy. Hummus avocado toast was presented nicely, but almost to the detriment of actually being able to eat all of it. Service was average, and the lack of outlets puts a damper on working for a long period of time.

Comment: The atmosphere of the cafe is open and spacious, great for people watching, and the location is superb. However, the coffee, I felt, is average for the price point ($6.50 not including tax/tip), if not a little lackluster. Turkish Latte had too many coffee grounds in it, which made drinking it unpleasant. I know this is part of Turkish coffee experience, but I didnt realize it wasnt just using normal espresso. Lofty Style Nola was okay and refreshing but didnt taste the chicory too much. The for-here cups for cold drinks is just plastic take out cups without a lid (wish it was glass), and my pet peeve is paper straws that make the coffee taste like cardboard. The employees and vibe is cafe is great, but in terms of specialty coffee, Lofty had a lot of variety but not sure if I should have stuck with a normal latte instead here instead.

Comment: Food is good, coffee not so much. The dab of milk in a macchiato is usually enough to cover the taste if the espresso shot is bad. I couldnt finish Loftys macchiato due to over roasted beans (burnt) and espresso brewed to be bitter. The chai was standard. If you are looking to get coffee here, look for sugary options to cover up the espresso. Go elsewhere for good espresso drinks.

Comment: The coffee was good, the food was ok. But it took 35 minutes for our food and drip coffee to arrive. And we had to ask again for our coffees. Ironically the avocado toast I ordered was called the toasted quickie. And we ordered drip coffee so not sure why they were delayed, maybe they just forgot. It was moderately busy when we arrived, but there were still tables available, nothing to indicate the kitchen was struggling. If the cashier had mentioned there was a wait we could have gone elsewhere or at least known what to expect.Staff seemed nice, just seems disorganized/under staffed, lacking in communication.

Great spot in Little Italy to meet up friends and get coffee.I’m torn, their coffee is better than a typical 4 star coffee but it’s not a true 5 star either. My vanilla latte was great and deserves 5 stars but salted caramel latte was at best 4 stars. Comment: Lofty Coffee in San Diego serves locally roasted coffee while offering breakfast and lunch. I have tried the granola and the Flower Child from their menu, and both looked stunning and tasted very good. However, the granola was a bit too sweet for my taste. The atmosphere of the cafe is pretty nice and the staff is friendly. While some reviewers have mentioned slow service and disappointing breakfast, my experience was positive overall. If youre looking for a trendy coffee shop to enjoy a break during your visit at the Farmers Market in Little Italy, it can surely be worth giving it a try.

Comment: This place is special, it’s hard to explain but it all just works. The open concept, the delicious simple food, and the phenomenal coffee. Out of all the coffeeshops I’ve been to in SD, I gotta say this spot has the best brew. The nitro cold brew was fantastic, from its smooth taste to the velvety texture. Got the Encinitas, and the poached eggs were so good. But gotta say the arugula and endive salad here was unbelievably good, perfectly balanced between bitter, sweet, and acidity. It is a bit on the pricer side, but I think given it’s quality it is worth it.

Comment: Met a local here for a visit the other morning, loved the design and openness of the Cafe and the coffee drinkers enjoyed their coffee, limited selection for non-coffee drinkers. The almond croissant was nice and fluffy but the true disappointment was the breakfast sandwich was they TOASTED the croissant...I have never experienced this before and it was very unpleasant, croissant are so high in butter content the result was a burnt flavour and hard pastry overpowering the delicious avocado and turkey. If they had better non-coffee options and hadnt ruined a croissant by toasting it Id provide a better review.

Comment: Super busy on a Sunday morning but well worth it. I got a spinach pastry to go (8/10), vanilla cream cold brew (10/10), and chia pudding (9/10).If you check reviews, could you possibly ask the barista who worked on March 26th around 10am what the exact drink was called she suggested? I’d love to come back and order the same thing again :)

Comment: Not quite a sit down place and not quite a to go coffee shop either, which overall messes with the vibe of the place since every sound can be heard from the people working to your surroundings. Also the menu is ok but a miss without having the option of something as simple as a ham n cheese croissant. Closest thing was the turkey and mozzarella yet, it was mostly avocado inside it vs cheese definitely a miss.

Comment: Disinterested and inattentive staff today; we thought we were invisible for a while. Baristas very interested in talking to each other and not getting the job done. Ordered take-out and our coffees were both poured in to stay cups and then dumped in a to-go cup. As such, the presentation was garbage. Presentation does not really matter to me but they have always seemed to value this in the past. My wife spoke to someone about our experience but it was obvious they did not give AF. Lots of coffee choices in the area. Well give others a shot.

Comment: The atmosphere is nice but our drinks were horrible. We are visiting from out of town and thought we would try a local coffee shop instead of the Seattle-base shop. There is a reason people line up at the Seattle shop. My chai had no flavor and I barely recognized that there was milk in it. There was not any spice flavor at all. My wife had drip coffee that was a step above flavored water.

Comment: This was my first experience at this coffee and partly shop and it was not positive. The friendly staff was the only reason this review was not lower.First, I was changed for a pastry and then told it was sold out. Then I chose another pastry and it was quite under whelming in flavor and extremely chewy (especially for the price of $7). Finally, the tea took over ten minutes to prepare because it seemed they lost my order. When I finally got the tea it was the wrong flavor too. Just not quite the experience I had hoped for considering the prices.

Comment: Starting with the good: the cashier was very nice. Appeared to be clean when I walked in. Received the food in a somewhat timely manner. Pleasant music. Coffee was very good. Thats where the good ends unfortunately. Now the bad: everything else. You have a choice of eating outside with the unfortunate smell of homeless people or eating inside with flies. I saw the flies first and went outside... After sitting at the table for a minute I walked back in. In the attached photo there are roughly 8 flies. How many can you spot! I ordered a sausage and cheese egg sandwich on a croissant and a side of potatoes and a coffee. $22 plus for self service counter service is steep. The croissant was stale. Still eatable though. I asked for hot sauce and ketchup... Apparently ketchup is too low class for this establishment. Must wait on line and be charged $1.50 for refill on coffee. Will not be coming back.

Comment: Lofty’s has a nice view and delicious coffees and croissants! That being said, “bring your checkbook!” The coffee is almost double the price of a similar item at Starbucks & almost every food item is upwards of $15! I understand food cost & inflation quite well, but they seem to be using this excuse to price gouge. Will support other more reasonable and high quality cafes in the area.

Comment: I’ve been coming to this place for months now and I always order the avocado toast (which is vegan) with a cup of coffee. The place is very relaxing in the morning, and there are plenty of seats although it can get very busy mid-breakfast time. I only wish they marked which options in their menu are vegan so I could better know what I can order without holding up the line when I ask the staff. But I really recommend their avocado toast!EDIT: They recently updated their menu and included more vegan items. So far, I tried the toasted quickie and the banana nut muffin. The toasted quickie is simple and tasty, and is the perfect size to go with additional items. The banana nut muffin was also really good and I’ll sure be ordering it again. Can’t wait to try the other new items!

Comment: A friend recommended this place and I am so happy she did!Wow, their almond milk latte was delicious! Sometimes almond milk in lattes can taste too nutty for me, but how they made it was perfect-- a touch of natural sweetness from the almond milk plus delicious espresso beans making a very delicious latte. The line was a bit long, and I rarely say this, but it IS worth the wait. I think I was in line ~20 minutes to order with 7 guests in front of me? The barista working the cashier seemed to be very friendly.I will definitely return again if I am ever back in the area! Did not receive the food until 11:05am and they still got the food order wrong. On another occasion I ordered ahead, checked in when I got there... Received my coffee and was told my food would be out shortly. After waiting almost 30 minutes I checked in again and was updated the acai bowl sold out. I was offered the gronale bowl, but no refund for the price difference, and didnt bother asking because I had already been there way longer than was necessary for something I ordered ahead of time. Comment: The coffee here is on point, alot of varieties and ways to get it done. The baked goods and sandwiches were out of sight. The location was very cool and good spot to meet up. It is about as pricey of a coffee shop as they come but when it hits your lips, youll know why.

Comment: One of my most enjoyable times during coffee with the help of the weather! Recommended by the staff on Dec. 9th to order a Flat White since Ive never been there before. Not only was it delicious but the environment they provide there is relaxing. The drink itself was very savory to the end and will definitely return soon

Comment: During a recent trip to Seattle I reluctantly tried oat milk and absolutely loved it. Now its pretty much added to all my lattes so when I find a good coffee shop that has it on the menu its definitely a huge plus. Lofty offers a house-made oat milk which is amazing so you can bet it will be a must every time I pass through San Diego☕

Comment: A very cool cafe. Very modern. Classy. A focus on healthy food and healthy portions. Very good service. Most of the outdoor seating is under cover. Really great on a sunny day. It was foggy when we arrived at 7 am for breakfast so a little cool but they quickly turned on a heater for us. Our food was delivered quite quickly. It was really good and a clean non fussy presentation. My chicken apple sausage with eggs was really good, different from the routine cafe. I liked it a lot. House made bread and croissants are really good. I really liked their coffee blend. If lofty is your target then this is a must visit. I really like this cafe.

Comment: Delicious coffee freshly brewed and made with the friendliest baristas in a coffee shop with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. I got a cold brew mocha as an off menu item and was quite delicious. Pricing is very reasonable especially if you want to get some work done.

Comment: A very clean and attractive coffee shop. All of the baristas are friendly and quick. I thought the espresso was only okay, and my sandwich was really disappointing. There are a few large tables with eight chairs that end up with only three or four people around them, more smaller tables would provide seating for more people. Its dog friendly, and there are normally some really great dogs hanging out with their people.

Comment: Very delicious breakfast this morning while in little Italy. If youre down here on vacation or just cruising around the area dont hesitate to stop by here and have a delicious snack and solid coffee or espresso. A little more expensive than your average Starbucks but since everything is made fresh from scratch daily with wholesome ingredients, the slight increase in cost is well worth it. My Yogurt and granola bowl this morning was delicious and my delightful little Cafe latte was a great addition. Enjoy. ☕🥣🥞🥐

Comment: With a great, open air setting, this space is excellent for a quick coffee/bite or a place you can hang and linger with friends over lunch.I came here specifically for the coffee, and they didn’t disappoint.Single origin espresso was pulled flawlessly. Their single origin cold brewed nitro was bursting with bright flavors. The team of craft coffee specialist are precise and careful in crafting every beverage whether it is a pour over, espresso beverage or a specialty drink. They also use the Kyoto-style slow drip method for cold brewing, which not only produces a superior coffee, but it’s also an artful presentation. Have some patience while waiting in line here. . . they’re busy making art in a cup which takes time.

Comment: I am so grateful for lofty coffee. Its the small things that make a difference here at lofty coffe. Put to one side the amazing coffe, outstanding baristas and beautiful food. The attention to detail is what makes the difference, house made coconut and almond milk, house made pastries that you can see being made, cold drip coffee dripping away in the background... This is the difference between great and outstanding! To top it all off, the architecture and design in this location provides an airy, bright and open environment that compliments the feeling of little Italy perfectly. Thanks lofty coffee for providing the goods!

Comment: Coffee and croissant that I ordered was great. I ordered espresso and the waitress brought me a small glass of water. This touch reminds me of Europe especially in Italy. Honestly the only place in Italy that they give you water without ordering it is in the south of Rome like Napoli or Sicily. The ambiance is nice. It’s clean, modern and the coffee is good. The barista is well trained and the pastries are fresh. I enjoyed my time sipping coffee and having a great conversation with friends. The noise of the traffic of cars and public bus was minimal and pleasant. It adds a nice European city vibe. I stayed here for over an hour and the waitress left us alone. There was no stress on leaving and we left when our conversation naturally was over. Two thumbs up to this place.

Comment: Food is good, staff are nice and friendly. I just didnt like the fact that they didnt have a host or proper signage to say you have to order and seat yourself, it doesnt look like a typical coffee shop so I sort of expected it not to be a typical coffee shop. Location is great, and they are fairly quick with the food. Lines can be a bit long but the cashiers are fast.

Comment: This is a hipster, trendy, clean, open air cafe. It gets busy on weekends, there was a line to the cashier and the total wait wasnt too bad. They have drinks, pastries, and some other food items that are fairly priced for the most part. There wasnt much service besides ordering and delivery.I opted for the toast and eggs...two slices of toast with 2 poached eggs. You can add-on avocado or a few other things, but this brings the price to $10, a little high in my opinion. The quality of the food was high though. The almond croissant was fine. I tried the house coffee, which by the way doesnt have free refills, so enjoy your less-than-full cup while you can.

Comment: Great coffee, organic food that tastes and feels healthy! Loved this cute coffee shop. We ordered the french toast - which was decent, but we have had better, organic poached eggs with bread - the best order and truly organic, and the house made granola bowl -also fantastic and flavoured with coconut chips. I would recommend go for eggs with sausages and the granola with a strong cup of cappuccino. Service was quick and everyone had a smile on their face.

Comment: This place is stunningly beautiful. Seriously, I think this is the best looking coffee shop in San Diego. Copa Vida in East Village is a close second, but this place takes the cake. Coffee was superb. Really impressed with the quality of ingredients. Only questionable ingredient was the choice of bread for the French Toast. The black forest ham and egg croissant was excellent though. Definitely a pricey menu, but if youre willing to spend then youll love this place.

Comment: Finally got to check out the newest, most anticipated Lofty. What a beautiful open space. So nice to sit and relax, hang out. Largest location to date. Same deliciousness as Encinitas and Solana. My fav coffee place in all of SoCal, that’s saying something. Their cold brew is awesome. If you want to brew at home, I’ve turned so many people into their Morning Dove blend, so smooth.I’ve tried pretty much everything they have to offer. Love that they also have great gluten free options and their house made milks are the best.

Comment: In terms of food and coffee - this guys are great. The only thing that spoiled our visit, that steel chairs very very cold to sit on in the morning, I’ve asked the staff for something to put on the cold chair, so that my pregnant wife can sit comfortably and safely, unfortunately, staff was NOT responsive to that. Do you think we gonna come back again?!

Comment: Nice new shop with a great open atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and efficient. I ordered the single origin espresso which was quite good, had a very interesting green flavor to it. The sandwiches we ordered however were very plain for being $10+. Also I dont believe one of them came out on the correct bread. The cheddar cheese they used looked and tasted like a Kraft Single, so that was a bit gross. Overall the coffee was pretty good, but I think Id avoid the sandwiches in the future.
