Comment: This specific location is very much a staple to the community of Boyle Heights. This is my go to for a reasonably priced coffee or chai latte. The staff does an amazing job decorating for every holiday and maintaining the cleanliness of the store which is set in a historic building. Im super grateful they have wifi and allow you to plug-in your devices. They always play new inspiring music that adds to the overall peaceful vibe.

Comment: This will be my go to bakery. The bread was delicious and I was able to sample out the cakes. Thank you to the manager for putting me on the tres leches drink. Crazy to think that Ive drove by here for years and never stopped by. When in the hights this is a go to spot, great drink, good bread and amazing customer service. Ill see you tomorrow

Comment: Bad service. I placed an online order for pick up the next morning. Part of my order was canceled and I tried to call to see what was canceled, but no one answered. I was on hold for 7 minutes before I decided to end the call since I was down the street already. To my shock, there were no customers. Anyone of the employees could have easily answered the phone.As for the food, the orange juice is good, the champurrado tastes like cinnamon toast crunch in a bad way, and the conchas have a store bought quality to them.

Comment: I got this cake for my foster daughter, we literally had to SKIP the cake . when i picked the cake out the one in the front of the display refrigerator looked really good, i didnt check the one put in the box for us .once i took it out of the fridge to sing her happy birthday, we saw how awful the strawberries looked . After singing her happy birthday i grabbed some of the wip cream to put on her face & she said it tasted horrible. ..im not sure what the correct term for this is but i tasted it and it taste like refrigerator. A really strong taste of it too. Nobody wanted cake . Im writing this review because its not fair that we had to skip this because they cant give us a dam good cake. Its so obvious these strawberries were bad and idk why it taste so much like refrigerator but my goodness they make cakes they should know how to prevent this from happening.

Both the Chipotle bacon and egg biscuit and their Ranchero egg and sausage biscuit is so good. If I have to pick, definitely go with the ranchero!! Their pan dulce is small and okay but the price for them is okay for that size. I love coming here, staff are nice and friendly. They know Spanish and English. I love this place more than Starbucks and love how it is owned by Latinos and created this franchise store. Love seeing this place grow and definitely worth getting your coffee here than Starbucks.

Comment: Update: Although Martha reached out to me to make corrections from my previous experience, this location does not have their online orders together. You pay ahead to skip the line and staff will still have you line up behind the morning rush even though your order is ready. What’s the point of online ordering and paying ahead if your staff still makes you wait? I will not be coming back to this location and hope to hear from management soon. Also, they have no manager on site to deal with potential issues. So if you have a problem, your best bet is leaving a negative review!Previous review: If you order online from this La Monarca Bakery & Cafe location, dont expect it to be ready at the given time slot. Staff will tell you their printer is out of order, making online ordering seem low priority/completely inefficient. I ordered something for pick-up at 6:30 a.m., when I arrived at 6:50 a.m., they had not even started the order. Also, they have no managers at this location, so customer service issues are difficult to address/deal with. Next time, Ill take my business to Capuyo Cafe on 1st Street, staff is kind and they actually have a manager/owner on site!

Comment: One star for the Chavez Ave/LA location only because zero is not possible. We tried to order lunch there today for curbside pickup, directly thru their website. They took my credit card, sent a confirming email for the entire order and a text alert with the pickup time.We arrived at the pickup time only to be told that they were out of burritos, so they didnt make either of the two wraps we ordered. For some other unexplained reason, they didnt make either drink or even put our one slice of cake in a to-go box.What is going on here? They had both my email address and phone number, but couldnt be bothered to email, call or text? Why require that info if youre not going to use it? The counter worker had nothing to say, so she got her supervisor, who at least refunded the charge but wasnt particularly apologetic about it, either. The supervisor tried to blame it on a delivery app, but we ordered directly thru your website. Then she tried to blame the production side of the company. I stopped listening.We wasted an hour driving down to that store to try to support your business. Our mistake. Dont worry, it wont happen again.

In the midst of COVID, they dont have any indoor or outdoor seating available, but they cleared out their dining room so social distancing is better available. I was able to order a Molette with soy chorizo, beans, and potatoes (no cheese). I also got a Mexican hot chocolate with oat milk. Both were delicious! So flavorful! She even threw in some vegan cookies! They had a lovely Dia de Los Muertos altar up and there was a generous amount of seating. All of their fresh baked goods are clearly labeled and their cakes looked amazing! I will definitely support again.

Comment: Went today and got 2 breads 1st time and last disscusing it was like I was eating a hockey pug it was like the bread was from the day before every morning the bread has to be fresh made it was 8am when I went and you guys open at 6am am disappointed I wouldnt even give u guys a star I know the manager or the employees wouldnt give those breads to there family tue manager or owner should do something about it worst place ever

Comment: I wandered into this wonderland and was pleasantly surprised. They were welcoming and offered a sample of my current obsession for tres leche cake. It was delicious and so was the other sample they gave me which was the dulce de leche cake and wow! This could possibly be a new founded obsession and Im not even a cake person. I wasnt even expecting to buy anything but I kinda felt obligated but in a good way. How is that you say? Because, I left with a piece of tres leche cake which was moist and delicious and it went great with a cup of tea later that day.

Comment: Definitely NOT THE LATEST & GREATEST!!!Not only were we not greeted upon arrival....Product Knowledge of the items on their menu was minimal!! .....In the end we were charged $35.00 for six tacos, 1 frappe, 1 Oaxaca ice Cafe& a chicken salad, which by the way was frozen!!!! .......Brought it to the attention of the staff, but they refused to exchanged nor HEAT UP!!!! .....

Comment: Where else to obtain morning bravery and succumb successfully wanderlust temptations over warm pastries and select coffees while your toosh lays low key on sunken slouching very straight wooden chairs and tables. Don’t mind the blasting of modern rock from MTV2 be your thing if it’s not, earphones are always a welcome. Free WiFi with a purchase, pedestrian view of Caesar Chavez Street—clean bathrooms, cleaned everything, almost too spotless.

Comment: The mole is very delicious.It almost almost tastes like real mole.... The flour tortillas are fantastic and the flavor of the beans in the taco is delicious... I ate two ear muffs and they are the best I have ever had in all of Los Angeles.. REALLY. They taste like butter and have crystallized sugar.. Very good... But what I didnt like was the Jamaican water with mango... That seems like an invention... The whole concept reminds me of my Mexico and its flavors.. They should make REAL Jamaica.. Not with Tizzana flavor of hibiscus flower whit mango.

Comment: I was so excited when this location opened. We needed a local coffee shop that could have people work on their laptops and study. The music is great, table sizes are good, the pastries are delicious, and I love having so many options with drinks. I usually go during the week in the day time I’ve been able to get so much work done.

Comment: I love cafe oaxaca but as you can see in the picture you can tell the difference on the color and in the taste as well...I asked Hilda to make it again and she said both of them have the same ingredients and she refuse to make it again...well for now I will go to the monarca on 1st st which is really close from this one...to la monarca management you should train your employees to put same ingredients when making the same coffee...

Comment: Before anything the reason why Im giving this location a 3 is, because the customer service here is not good. On Thursday my husband when to buy 2 cakes and ask the lady to write happy thanksgiving and she was just giving him excuses and not wanting to do it. We have always gone to Monarcas for cake and never heard someone complain about putting a name to the cake. This will definitely be our last time going to this specific place due to the situation.
