Comment: Dynamo Donuts, considered the best donuts in San Francisco, lived up to the hype. While they’re delicious, they are on the smaller side, so be prepared to indulge in a few. Comment: I recommend the garden patio in back for a quiet, nicely landscaped area in which to enjoy your delicious donuts and coffee 😁 And, of course, like everyone else says the donuts are tasty, the flavors are creative, the espresso is quite good (nice and flavorful and not sour) and the staff is friendly and chill.

Comment: Really wanted to like this place, came here with my toddler today waited in line behind another person. Another customer came up a couple minutes later and stood to my right for service as well. When the guy in front of me wrapped up his order, the lady to my right made her way right to the counter as if i was invisible. The lady working there said absolutely nothing and even asked the lady who cut me how she could “help her”. I was really appalled and couldn’t believe the level of disregard, i felt completely disrespected.I was hoping to do some business here and order some donuts for my kids joint bday since it is a “Donuts theme”. I won’t be coming back here again unfortunately because this is NOT how you do business and treat customers.

Comment: The flavor of the donuts was really neat. I arrived around 2:45 and the staff was super friendly. I wish the donuts were warmer though. The texture and the flavor would have been enhanced if the donuts were either heated up or just kept warm. The texture and flavor of the coffee donut was awesome and the chocolate anise donut was super interesting and tasty. Coffee was a bit lighter my taste but still good.

I kept hoping it would be good since I literally live next door, but sadly, I now walk 5-10 min to other coffee shops.Coffee is hastily prepared, yet still takes forever to make. Plastic caps don’t fit properly. Asked for extra hot on a cold, windy day and it was barely warm lol. Their menu for donuts is never accurate and they run out by like 10 AM. However their flavors are unique and tasty.Also weird vibes from the employees. Almost like there’s an air of superiority. Everyone is “nice,” but I get the impression they think they’re better than their customers.

Comment: Really cute selection of donuts! My daughter tried a few and liked them all. I liked my iced latte and my daughter had water- not many kid friendly beverages or tea options.I will say that I knocked off points because of the vibe. Employees were not very friendly when I asked him questions, there is a nice area to sit though. The smell midday here was pretty musty. Daughter and I left after about half an hour and took the donuts to go because of it. I think it smelled like a barn but daughter said toilet lol. Maybe they’re doing some gardening or pipe work nearby but beware.Overall yummy treats, limited treats, lingering stink, and lots of seating available with cute pic worthy background.

Comment: Well made artisanal doughnuts. The biggest downside is the price for what you get. Most of the doughnuts are also not very different from each other. We got the sticky bun, the chocolate star anise, the vanilla bean, banana maple, the spiced chocolate and cinnamon apple. Besides telling that some where chocolate and others were not we really couldnt tell them apart.

Comment: IMHO the best Bay Area Donut is a close competition between Dynamo Donut and Johnnys Doughnuts. I love the flavor variety and the seasonal changes at Dynamo. Perhaps so far my favorite is the spiced chocolate. Simple but delicious. I recommend picking up a box (reasonably priced!) for your next get together :)

Comment: Their donuts are not your typical donut. These seem to be moist like not dry at all. And I loved that. They are less fluffier than the usual donut, but its density is needed for the flavors. We got maple bacon, toffee coffee and wanted to try something outside the typical donut and it was a corn fritter. The fritter had corn, Tajín and a lime taste to it, don’t think it’s corn bread. It works! But not sure it’s my thing. Their flavors are unique and definitely coming back.The pictures I took them at home after a long walk in the mission so they took some damage and some nibbles.

I really liked the spiced chocolate and the berry pride. Staff here is super helpful and friendly. It feels like they are people from the neighborhood and are really happy. Comment: Im really happy they had a vegan donut and it was an excellent apricot one, though it would have been better with less sugar on it.I also got a hot chocolate with soy milk (they have three alternative milks which they unfortunately have a 50-cent surcharge for: soy, oat, and almond). Comment: Second stop on our Saturday afternoon donut crawl:-Pink Lemonade: very artistic with a slice of candied lemon, just the right amount of sour tang, very balanced, doughy goodness, fluffy perfection.-Mango Tangerine: A lot going on here! Good balance. One side for each flavor, with delightful hunks of candied mango baked into the donut. Mango flavor comes through stronger than the tangerine, but you can totally tell both are there. It comes up as mango tango on the register which is just adorable. ;)-Orange Dreamsicle: its so creamy!! Nostalgic, really tastes like the dreamsicles I remember, plus delicious donut goodness. I wouldnt say this ones the most standout, but a solid donut nonetheless.-Double espressos: First sip was a little bit sour but after that it was all good. Very bright coffee, notes of being cherry and milk chocolate. The ex-barista with us enjoyed it overall.Delightful people serving us up. Chill and nice. Barista had great tattoos. They offer GF and vegan donuts, though we did not get those.

I love that they open early, when I stopped by on a Saturday morning, there was already a tiny line before 8am.I had two donuts: Chocolate Rose and Caramel de Sel. Both are pretty tasty and aren’t too sweet or too heavy so I liked them. But there is something that bothers me: once the donut is placed in the small paper bag, its glazing would get smeared and in my case, a lot of the glazing stayed on the paper bag rather than on the donut :-/

Idk, the donuts used to look nicer.When I went today there were literally only 3 donuts that were in this little cake hood. They looked kinda crusty. I actually thought they were just for display at first and asked if those were the donuts that were for sale(not in a rude way, I said are these the donuts?) .I went for it anyway and while the donut tasted fine, it didnt feel super fresh. Nothing Id go back for, but not bad either. The cashier had no personality nor really gave any positive gesture, and they are more concerned chatting to other co-workers. Comment: Ok, I live in Portland, OR (arguably one of the best foodie cities in the country). I grew up in NYC; and lived in Chicago, Los Angeles and different parts of the Bay Area. First off, their donuts are small for a regular size donut (think Dunkin Donuts size). I had the popular Maple Glaze Bacon Apple. It had a good flavor profile, with the maple and bacon being more prominent than the apple which was only slightly negligible. All in all it was a good donut thats on par with VooDoo or Blue Star in Portland. That said, they probably have good ingredients though Ive yet to confirm that. Im giving this place 2 stars, in large part, because for what I experienced in taste it is just not worth $3.50 per [small] donut. They even have a donut thats $4! 😬 You should know that I rate food based on quality, taste and quantity...in that order. I have happily spent insane amounts of money (relative to our economic climate and the increasing amount of poverty in the US) for what amounts to a few bites of food because of amazing flavor profiles and/or locally sourced-sustainable ingredients; so my rating is about the overall value. For a donut of this caliber and size, Id pay around $1.50 - $1.75. IMHO, walk down the block to a local Mexican bakery and pick up some pastries that are just as tasty for a third of the costs. Maybe that will influence Dynamo enough to adjust their price point or move to a more touristy area where people blindly spend money and rate food based on trends...and the size the line you have to wait in. Yes, thats a stab at VooDoo donuts in PDX...thats more museum that food. 😉

Comment: This place had so many people rating it on yelp but it was sooo disappointing. It was not fresh and we didnt come near closing or anything, we came at 3 pm. Donuts were kind of dry (its not soft in the inside like the way you bite into a Krispy Kreme donut) and not really sweet like youre going to have diabetes (lacking the fatty goodness). It was too healthy and just fancy but not flavorful despite the intriguing names like lemon pistachio or marshmallow yam 🍩. Maybe it was just the day I came there and Ill definitely rescind my review should I return and have a different experience. Maybe I just need some hood donuts

Comment: Have been going here with my kids since they could eat solid food (over 10 years). Their favorite is the vanilla bean donut. They also love the mint tea (with lots of honey and ice!). I love the coffee and the occasional donut, especially the gluten free options (they typically have 3 gluten free donuts every day!). I know the owners take a lot of care in putting out a product with high culinary integrity - that means you get great food, thoughtfully conceived and prepared. No gimmick donuts. I have developed real relationships with some of the staff here as well over the years, and Im always sad when someone leaves. But this is not a career position either, so....

Comment: Extremely delicious and tempting maple-glazed bacon donuts; if youre on a diet, beware haha. Im lucky enough not to be, and I get at least one bacon donut plus the Strawberry Earl Grey donut whenever they make it when Im at SFGH for the weekends.The coffee is delicious and unique from batch to batch, but always good, as a result of their large-French-press production. Its full-bodied and rich as expected from a French press, but quite clean and smooth almost like a drip coffee. They consistently brew a solid medium (La Paz) roast, and make espresso drinks as well. Also they have a quaint, cozy outdoor garden/patio in the back that is nice to just sit in and take a breather.

Comment: So love the interesting flavor combos, and theres a lovely outdoor area out back which is a very pleasant place for a donut and a coffee. But the donuts themselves just arent that good. They get better if they are heated up, but they cant heat them up on-site. And given the premium price, I want them to be different or special somehow. Id recommend getting your sugar fix from the less creative but tastier donuts from the Jelly Donut just down the street.

SO GOOD.Im no donut expert or someone who will travel long distances for them, but I appreciate ones that are tasty in more complex ways than just being super sweet. Thats why I appreciated the donuts I tried at Dynamo. So tasty and complex and just wow.There is a small seating area inside for those times when you want to get out of the cold, but you have to order at the walk-up window. Its a pretty basic space, but cozy and nice. And bathrooms.Great experience and donuts, would come again.

Comment: This shop may be a great for donuts, but if youre like me and go to coffee shops for a chance to get strong, dark coffee, look elsewhere. The coffee wasnt black, it was a light cloudy brown color - perhaps they pre-add milk to the decanter. The taste was more sour than bitter, and didnt have much flavor. It was also just a few degrees above lukewarm. I didnt even finish it.

Comment: It took a while to find this place, but it was well worth it. Honestly, Im not a huge doughnut fan, but things maybe different from now on. I had the apricot cardamom and it was surprisingly good. I read some reviews prior and most were positive, but you really have to try it for yourself.I only wish I came earlier or they made more doughnuts to last long enough for customers who come in later in the afternoon. Other than that,this place was great! The server was friendly and the patio out back was decent. Ill definitely be here to try out other flavors.

Comment: I have to admit that before Dynamo, I preferred the plain ol glazed donut to the fancy creations. However, after trying the maple glazed bacon donut, I was a changed woman. Im not one who craves sweets, so this is a nice blend of savory and sweet. I used to work down the street, so I got to run here mid-week when there was plenty available. I hear its a quick seller on the weekends. They also offer really good coffee and a nice outdoor patio out back for nice days. I just wish they had chamomile tea (or any decaf tea option).

Comment: The first time I had a vanilla bean donut here I was pretty surprised at how good and unique it was. Finally I went back and tried the others. The chocolate rose donut is just an average chocolate donut with interesting flavored glaze. The pumpkin chocolate chip donut sounds amazing, and you would think that taking an amazing thing and deep frying it would make it even better. But I think I prefer pumpkin chocolate chip bread/cake/muffins. The chocolate spice donut is pretty good, and interesting, but not worth writing home about.

Comment: With amazingly good baristas on hand, Four Barrel Coffee, a street-side ordering window and delicious, daily made donuts to choose from, you almost forget that theyre four dollars a piece My husband doesnt forget though, and this place is solely responsible for sending him on a donut quest throughout the city to find tastier more affordable options. Me? I like it here. The donuts have unique flavor combinations and are made in the Old Fashioned dense style that I like. No fake flavors here. When they say orange ginger, they really mean orange ginger. Open windows to the kitchen make it easy to watch the donuts being made, making the trek to the deep Mission not-so-bad. However, if you dont feel like the hike, Dynamo donuts pops up throughout coffee shops and pastry spots in the city; dont miss the Chocolate Rose Geranium Hazelnut, Chocolate Rose and Spiced Chocolate when you see em!

Comment: I come here for one thing...maple glazed bacon apple donuts! These are legit! Now why only four stars. Well, Im not super crazy for a lot of their other donuts. Ive tried a few. The Monte Cristo...it was more grease and less flavor. The Chocolate Rosemary Almond was so salty that it killed the donut for me. I love salted chocolate but this tasted like salt with a dash of chocolate. I had a lemon one that was nice but not worth the price. I have yet to try the coffee, and I usually get my donuts to go. The decor inside is simple but nice...what you would want in a cute clean donut shop. I will go back, dont get me wrong!I am going to have to venture to other donut shops in town and compare before I can rate this a 5 star venue. Until I find one better, I will continue my love affair with the maple glazed bacon apple donut. (Which I can never get a photo of because I put it so quickly in my face!)

Comment: Based solely on trying two of the donuts. One being meh and the other being awesomely delicious.The spiced chocolate was weird.... It had an unusual consistency. I felt like i was eating a brownie-cake. It was odd. The taste of the donut itself was not good. I didnt enjoy the random shots of spice I got. Possibly if it was more consistent maybe it would have been better.The maple glazed bacon was awww-some! The donut was nice and fluffy. There was lots of flavor and it was sweet but not too sweet. It was really yummy with the sweet sugar with the hint of saltiness from the bacon. It was a match made in my mouth! Sssoooo good! And to be honest, I dont generally like donuts but this was awesome!Though it was a little expensive but the bacon donut was well worth it.There are two ways to order and enjoy this little shops delectable food. You can go to their street counter and order donuts, muffins, and coffee to go or you can go inside to order and sit down and enjoy the smell and view of all the donuts being made right in from of you!

Comment: Their donuts are great. Theyre not heavy or stiff, and are very flavorful. Had the Bacon Maple Apple and Passionfruit Milk Chocolate, and loved both. We also had hot chocolates from there, which were good too (tho I wouldnt say awesome- I love the hot chocolates from Burdicks Chocolates back in New England). If you liked Krispy Kreme donuts, youll love these.
