Comment: My associates at the new studio and office mentioned the convenient shop around the corner, called Dune.Though I found the pastries tasty, It was hard to get past a very rude lady behind the counter standing right next to the hot glass sandwich container.I already had coffee from home in my cup so I was really looking for a breakfast sandwich. So I asked the lady next to the container what was in the sandwiches... And her reply was, ...I just went off the clock, go to the other counter and ask the cashier.I was pretty taken back since she was standing right next to it. Thinking maybe I misunderstood I asked again. And again she took the time to repeat that long winded answer. I was a bit stunned. So I walked over to the othet counter and asked the cashier the same question, who simply replied, bacon egg burrito.Wow, bacon egg burrito...3 words......6 syllables. Much shorter than the Long winded answer I got denying me a simple reply and courteous customer service.Needless to say i was very turned off about going back here.Thankfully everyone else was very pleasant.

Comment: **Review: Dune Coffee Roasters - Santa Barbara**We recently visited Dune Coffee Roasters in Santa Barbara during an afternoon break from our ride on the CA-1 highway. Around 2 pm, very few other cafes were open, making Dune Coffee Roasters a convenient stop. The café, situated in a beautiful location with ample parking, immediately caught our eye. The layout and overall aesthetic are impressive, with visually appealing packaging and high-quality coffee cups. The washrooms were clean and well-maintained, which added to the positive first impression. Theres even a gym next door, adding to the convenience for locals. One notable aspect is that the café does its roasting in-house, which is commendable. However, our experience was marred by the quality of the coffee, which we found to be quite sub-par. We tried three different kinds of coffee – cappuccino, espresso, and a pour-over – and all were bad. Given the promising setup and attention to detail in other areas, we were quite disappointed by this. Additionally, when we ordered, some food items were not available, which was a letdown. While the café excels in its ambiance and amenities, the primary offering – the coffee – did not meet our expectations. In summary, Dune Coffee Roasters has a lot going for it in terms of atmosphere and facilities, but there is significant room for improvement in the quality of the coffee and the availability of menu items. We hope they can address these issues, as it has the potential to be a fantastic stop for travelers and locals alike.

Comment: I stopped in here for a quick bite and a coffee for the road. The coffee was tasty. The staff was friendly and efficient. I got the almond butter and banana toast. It was delicious. It tasted like the almond butter was made in house. I got an almond milk latte and I also bought a bag of coffee. I also loved the packaging and atmosphere.

Comment: A NO-BRAINER ! When you have found the best coffee in town you look no further ! My wife and I were up in Santa Barbara for a few days to celebrate her birthday. And we were having a great time dining at some fine eateries. WHAT ! But we are coffee people...and we want the best. After fabulous lattes here on Saturday morning this was our NUMBER ONE SPOT for brekkie on Sunday morning before we headed home to Irvine. We pulled into their parking lot around 7.45am...plenty of spots at that early hour. A smiling cashier named Camilo took our order for 2 x 12oz double shot LATTES with 2% milk, 2 x HAM & GRUYERE CROISSANTS and 1 x ALMOND CROISSANT. We were dining in of course ! This place has a laid back chill out vibe and a few coffee lovers were already here enjoying their well made brews. Our Lattes in lovely porcelain cups were ready pretty fast...I picked them up at the espresso counter making sure to thank Drue the talented barista for her dazzling work. Our Croissants were being heated up a tad and within a couple of minutes we had them in front of us. Yet again we chose to sit at the community countertop overlooking their outdoor patio....people watching ! To say our lattes tasted very good would be an understatement....they blew our tastebuds into the stratosphere. I said to my wife we are not leaving without a bag of ZIP ZINGER whole roasted coffee beans...their in house coffee. Now Im not a big croissant fan especially for breakfast but hey....my Ham & Gruyere Croissant tasted darn good. Of course my wife agreed ! Then my wife tried the Almond Croissant....flavor heaven I was told....try some. Mmmmmm....very very decadent ! Of course we were mainly here for great coffees and I was really enjoying mine. YIPPEE ! A quick trip to Camilo the cashier and I had a bag of Zip Zinger whole roasted coffee beans in my hands. ALL COFFEE ROASTERS ARE NOT CREATED EQUAL !

Comment: BEST COFFEE IN TOWN ! My wife and I were up in beautiful Santa Barbara for a few days to celebrate her birthday. On Saturday morning we needed to kickstart our day with great coffees. BUT WHERE ? The reviews for Dune Coffee Roasters were too good to ignore. After a very light breakfast at our hotel The Eagle Inn we zipped over here around 8.40am. We nailed the last available parking spot on the lot and headed inside. WOW ! It was surprisingly very busy...a good sign ! I stood in line at the cashier desk to order while my wife nabbed a couple of barstools at the huge glass window overlooking the outdoor patio. NICE SETUP ! A cashier named Gabi took my order for 2 x 12 oz Lattes with 2% milk. At this time just the coffees though their display of croissants looked inviting. PRISTINE ! While waiting for our lattes to be made I looked the place over......absolutely immaculate. Lots of happy campers sitting around enjoying their coffees. Within a short time I heard my name and headed to the espresso counter to collect our lattes. LOVELY ! Abby the barista had done a sterling job making our beautiful looking lattes in pretty porcelain cups. When I asked Gabby which coffee they use in house her reply was ZIP ZINGER ( dark chocolate, stone fruits, rich ). WHOO HOO ! My wife is gonna love this. I grabbed a few sachets of raw sugar for sweetener. DARN GOOD ! Let me tell you that only a small handful of coffee shops have ever delivered a latte this delicious. We loved sitting at the countertop sipping away at our wondrous brews and watching the activity outside. WE WILL BE BACK FOR SURE !

Comment: This place has a great vibe, friendly service, and some of the best coffee. I had the flash brew and my wife had an americano. We both loved our drinks. If you are really into the flavor, the coffee has a slight tangy flavor. We thought it was great, but in case you think differently.

Comment: Absolute disappointment. Traveled from Chicago and have ordered from Dine multiple times for their Gesha and High end.Coffee delicious once I ordered from the staff that was bothered by me being there. No interest in customers who show interest.$30 bag of coffee with not even a pour over.Fetishized coffee shop for millennials. No core. No soul. Even art is stapled to wall. Color blocks are amazing and a shame such a icon was so much a zero

Comment: The coffee is roasted in this location and you can taste the high quality. The ham and cheese croissant was delicious. The staff is very friendly :). There are few spots in the parking lot, so you might want to park in the public parking lot nearby which is free for the first couple of hours I think

Being off anacapa, there is generally good parking even if you have to go around the corner on santa barbara st. I like the outdoor patio. Delicious coffee. Way better than Handlebar. Im trying to remember....when did they change the name from French Press? seems like a while ago. Dune will have to do for such yummy coffee.

Comment: Service is really lacking as I had to recipe down my table outside. When I asked because my hand was literally black from placing it on the table. A staffer came out with a filthy wet rag and pushed the dirt around ... so I asked for some napkins and cleaned it myself. I ordered food and coffee. Anything you ask for ... they point like its a do it yourself service. No personality at all. I found it ashame that people didnt seem to like their job much. The definitely were not morning people lol. The atmosphere was the only thing good, and that really ce from the community of patrons.

My oat cap had little flavor, was very heavy, not prepared as a cap. Fast friendly service however.Ive been going to the Dune in Goleta, same menu (too bad theres no variety. Their service is great and the caps are yummy. The food while not all that interesting has been fresh and tasty.Maybe improve this downtown location and offer something special.

Also ordered a berry scone, which wasnt great, but overall the experience was pretty solid.I will say, the shop did run out of toast for their extensive toast menu by 10 a.m., so that was a bit questionable. But, perhaps just a good spot to grab a coffee?

Maybe Im not the best person to judge since I am not a coffee connoisseur, but this place was genuinely the best Ive ever had. I will definitely be stopping by again next time that I am in Santa Barbara.

Comment: This was a cool spot a few blocks off state street with some excellent coffee. I believe they also have a roastery on site. Staff was very kind and the food options were slightly heavy on pastries. I had the matcha latte(matcha from Japan), which was exquisite. My friend had the cappuccino, which was also delightful. If youre in the area, Id totally recommend. My only gripe was the bathrooms. They had two bathrooms- one was for women and the other was gender-neutral. I wish they had a mens bathroom as well, because the wait to use the loo was obscene. Or, simply convert the womens bathroom into a gender-neutral one was well.

Comment: I wanted to give this place more stars as it came highly recommended. I ordered a cold brew and it looked like dirty water. It barely tasted like coffee. I also ordered the Iced Tres Leches …. It tasted like an ordinary cafe latte. For a place that prides itself on their coffee, I’d expect a better version of a cold brew. It tasted like a regular hot coffee poured over ice creating a super watered down coffee. Massively disappointed

Comment: Drip coffee tasted 5 hour old sour rancid and was told it was 15 min old. I threw it away and ordered a tea, the water was well over 200, so burned flavor tea. Employees were passive agressive with each other and sour, coffee matched the attitudes. Seriously need to put more care into your product.

Comment: Staffing seems to be a small issue as it took me ~20 minutes from the time I ordered to receive a pour over and chai latte. Since they only brew one coffee at a time, this morning being a medium roast, I opted for a pour over. Unfortunately my pour over was the wrong size when it came out but I didnt feel like asking them to correct it as they were obviously busy. The flavor (Guzmán) was fine but not extraordinary. The chai latte had great flavor but we watched the barista add extra cinnamon to the point which it stung to drink. Id stick to making a french press as home as far as their drinks are concerned.Parking seemed adequate enough, however Id recommend parking across the street in the parking lot at the corner of Santa Barbara St. and E. Cota St. to avoid any pedestrian hassle from the adjacent gym.On the bright side, the baristas were very kind and I respect management for finding employees who can find a smile at 06:00.

Comment: Great outdoor seating. Service was spot on. Liked the location. Theres a small parking lot though likely full. We got an almond croissant that was really nice. They make macha drinks with legit macha powder. This is huge because few places use real green tea powder. Customers sweeten or not according to their preference rather than getting an overly sweet drink. It could have been blended better because there were unblended bits of dry powder in one of the drinks we got. The other drink, a latte was just ok. They definitely appear to roast their own beans insight.

Comment: Coffee for any level of need. Drip is delicious enough for me. They serve oat milk which is really nice. Pastries are super yummy and the price is more for supporting an in house bakery. The staff is very friendly, as in real people, who seem to be having fun. Music is always good.

Comment: Good coffee and pastry, friendly service, indoor and outdoor (dog friendly) seating. Parking lot is fairly small, but there is plenty of street parking in the area as well. A great place for a relaxing break in the days activities.

Comment: Great coffee and friendly staff, but their Wi-Fi is absolutely terrible – Ive had Wi-Fi in third world countries that was faster. If you want good coffee AND fast Wi-Fi, go to Breakfast Culture Club instead.

Comment: We are from out of town but happened to stumble upon this place and were so happy we did! Our lattes were great, the staff was so helpful, and we even got jam and toast, which turned out to be amazing and way more than we expected. It’s close enough to walk to from the pier and beach and the environment is really nice.

Comment: In from out of town and tried this place based on a blog post that highly recommended. Lived up to the hype and the Vanilla Latte was delicious! Also tried the lemonade and was very good, tasted fresh. Was sad I didnt get to go back.

Comment: Hipster like coffee place, but the coffee is actually good. They make their own chocolate syrup with they use on their mochas, so that is a plus. It something I look for in coffee shops since it makes a difference in the taste. Ive had a Mocha and Flat brown from here and both were good, I would recommend. I am concerned that the barista did not know how to make a flat brown, they should know this in this type of coffee shop. Overall very nice place, clean and stylish.

Comment: French press is a good place in town to get coffee however the prices have been going up pretty significant in the last couple years which doesnt really justify the cost of times! They do have very good pastry and the service is pretty good as well the location on Cota street is not very attractive since this across the car wash!

Comment: Good coffee, not a good place to get work done. There arent any power outlets (probably intentional). I can see why they do this but for the working traveler this gets three stars.

Comment: Addicted to this place. I think the coffee is legit great. I like the shop feel. Its not that cozy but it is high end tasty. The service can be a bit snobby but I still think I will go back.

Comment: Good place for a morning cup of coffee that is way better than Starbucks. Parking situation is horrible though. Suggest anyone closer to walk instead of drive.

Comment: Ive been to the French Press secondary location a few times now. It has a slightly different vibe than the original, but its still your typical hang-out for studying college kids and your general laptop users (meaning one person per table...luckily theres plenty of seating). The drinks are solid. The service is quick, polite and helpful.

Comment: Prefer this location because I can drop my wife off in the morning and she can walk to work. Shared parking lot with a mattress store so watch out for trucks and wide turns. Their is a patio that gets a lot of sun in the afternoon. Perfect place to write and relax.

Comment: Overpriced but yummy. Long lines and hard to find a seat because its super popular with the Santa Barbara suits but lots of smiling faces behind the counter.

Comment: Much quieter location than the State St. one. Lots of people hanging out on the patio. The occasional table of critical old men, of course. The coffee and food is fantastic. I got some peach strawberry cobbler and an Arnold Palmer last time I visited and very much enjoyed it. I prefer Handlebars mochas, but French Press is a winner when it comes to pastries.
