Comment: Place is a joke! Stopped in to buy two pastry 5/1/2024 asked for butter please! The man with very broken English that helped us said only 1 butter is no charge any butter additional is $1.50 extra! So you basically pay for an extremely high priced Danish and can only get one butter? Look elsewhere and save your money! The quality and management of this place has gone str8 into the toilet!

Comment: This was my 3rd visit. I used to love this restaurant, but this last visit was the LAST visit. Trying real hard to believe it wasn’t a black thing, but this is Santa Barbara. Waiter brought me my food and that’s about it. No water refills (and I ordered the bananas foster so you know I almost choked trying to get back to my car), no creamer refills for the coffee I couldn’t finish drinking because it was too strong, and no check- I had to go up to the register because apparently at some point I became invisible. Never again.

The service was really slow, we had to wait a long time for our food which we wouldnt usually mind if the taste was worth it. The bread, which is advertised as all homemade, was so hard it was barely edible. We found the prices to be too high and the most expensive breakfast meal we had whilst in Santa Barbara. There are better places in the local area that offer a nicer setting when eating outside.

Comment: It was my wife’s and I first time and my dad invited us since he had been there before. Food was delicious, highly recommend the steak and eggs. Also the spicy chicken omelette. Plates are generous size and everything was delicious. They refilled our coffee and water several times, coffee was delicious as well by the way. We sat on the patio in the alley and it was a pleasant atmosphere for Sunday morning. Will definitely be going back.

This past weekend decided to try the Rudolph Steiner bread, a dark, dense, flavorful seed bread with a bit of sourdough. Both really good.The young lady at the register was helpful and friendly. They also slided the steiner for me.

As they say on Google Maps, the unsatisfied service, I ordered an American Breakfast and they brought me hard potatoes with an all greasy egg, the bacon was still passing. The coffee with a lot of seats. The service by a waiter was very bad. I think I was discriminated against. I dont mind paying more than $100 for a breakfast despite everything Im used to leaving a good tip but this time I even felt bad myself for not leaving anything.

Comment: My friend and I had brunch here on Sunday. My friend had Espresso and an Artichoke/Egg Toast. I had coffee & cream (free refills), and the Brioche French Toast. OMG, yum! After brunch, we bought some of their homemade bread and pastries to take home to our people.I gave them five stars because they deserve it for their excellent customer care. Case in point, I accidentally left my phone in the restrooms. When I went back it was by the register, intact. Made my day!The restaurant is located at 25 West Gutierrez Street in downtown Santa Barbara.There is street parking, basically first-come-first-serviced, and a public lot nearby on Motor and Parker off State Street. There are two restrooms. My French Toast was $20.00, so its a bit more expensive than some places in SB for brunch.

Coming from Europe I can say that normally olive oil used in US is below average and this place is using a good one. Pastries are also very good, all fresh flaky and like it is supposed to be. If I was living here, this would be the place for me to get bread and pastries.

The poppy seed twists are my favorite, followed by the cherry danish. Their breads make fantastic toast and sandwiches.

Comment: Got the Bananas Foster French Toast and truthfully it was delicious. Great mix of nice eggy French toast covered in delicious bananas Foster syrup and warm banana slices. I would say that they are a bit more expensive than expected which is why the lower rating. We also got the cinnamon roll and it is not good at all. Good customer service overall.

Along with a French press, seeping dark loose tea leaves in lukewarm water. Comment: Dangelos is an entity on its own!!!!! I read some of the other comments saying it’s too expensive and I have to disagree!!!! This restaurant has chosen to keep their standards high and therefore yes has to have higher prices.Everything is organic and fresh....their teas are fresh pressed....that means real mint leaves and the finest loose leaf teas you can find.(Biltmore doesn’t even serve fresh pressed teas anymore!) and they’re baked goods areThe best in town. I can’t understand how someone would compare them to Starbucks when Starbucks baked goods come out of a plastic bag and Dangelos is baked fresh every day. All I can think of is unsophisticated palate and low standards. Thank you Dangelos for being one of my favorite breakfast spots for so many years!!!! We love you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Comment: I walked over for lunch (from the Holiday Inn Express around the block). I had the turkey with fontina, one of their hot sandwiches on fresh sourdough. It came with a nice green salad. Service was excellent. A neighborhood dog even sat with me once he realized I was willing to scratch his chin (I sat outside). I would visit again if I have the opportunity!

The breads looked fairly good and the pastries were very appetizing and there werent many left after the morning rush so Id bet theyre popular! The orange juice here is sweet, non acidic, and incredibly refreshing. Not many places have top-notch fresh OJ these days but here is a pleasant exception... though the price makes it hard to justify coming here much. The huevos ranchero was good but I wasnt a fan of their eggs benedict. The main drawback was the price compared to the quality offered.

The $3.75 coffee was horrendous and burned, and I normally love diner style coffee. The eggs Florentine were fairly tasteless and rubbery, sausage good but portion meager for price, French toast is suggestibly delicious, huevos rancheros were hardly ranch-like... In all the value is horrible. The servers are very nice, always ready to help, but not always attentive to empty plates, coffee, or water.

I always have the Benedict at a new place to see if they do a decent job of the hollandaise sauce. They did. But the whole thing was a weirdly rectangular lump and came with nothing else. It was on some sort of spongy sweet bread and I wouldnt order it again. I know this is a tourist trap city but that seemed like a lot of money for not particularly great food. The coffee did keep coming though.

Make sure you get something with bread since it is made fresh.I highly recommend the poached eggs with salmon. Simply delicious. It has an excellent mixture of savioury and sweet.The coffee is good, and I like the sugar cubes. Parking is simply, just use the lot on State and Gutierrez. Ninety minutes free and its less than a block to the restaurant.The only downside is the pricing. It is a bit expensive. Dont expect to escape for less than $20 for a normal meal.

I went here, on recommendation, to get really special bread as part of a particular gift and was disappointed.I got the long thin baguettes. Texture is fine rather than the chewy and more open that I would prefer; the taste was -- well I dont really remember which says it all.
