Comment: The best Sandwich shop in SD. Their PB&J is a must. Only down side is they are so busy it can be difficult for the staff to keep up with crowd. The best experience is to order by phone, pick up your food and enjoy it in the nearby grass.

Comment: Its a hit or miss on the quality of sandwich you get. You do not always get what you pay for. They will skimp on something always! I dont ever get the cookies because there rock solid. Cinabon is good. Bread is really good. They make many mistakes. I always check my sandwiches prior to leaving the place. I had to wait a few times for them to remake a sandwich order they got wrong.

Comment: Legit rustic bakery. Came here to try the scones, absolutely delicious. Some of the best Ive had in San Diego. Upon entering youre greeted by racks of freshly baked loaves, multiple types of breads, all looking crusty and delicious. They also make brioche cinnamon rolls, patries and even pup treats. It was worth going just for the coffee which was also top tier and delicious.

Lovely outdoor patio. Despite it being Sunday morning when I visited, the line moved quickly. When you order they give you a number and then bring your items to your table.

Comment: I come here all the time to get sandwiches and they have been great, but today I ordered 2 coffees and a cinnamon roll to go. I waited 20 minutes and it was $20. Then when I get to the park and open up my cinnamon roll, expecting it to be soft and warm, but It’s hard and cold. Disappointed..

Comment: I got a large Mexican Mocha and it was tasty and small. I walked around the Sea Hive and sipped my coffee. It was an expensive cup of coffee and a confusing store set up. There are two entrances. The cashier was helpful telling me about his suggestions as I asked and even finding out where Sea Hive was. The other servers did not seem to be in much of a hurry. The place seemed to have tables that were not bussed so there was limited seating. There is a parking lot across the street and on the other side near Sea Hive. There were tables outside as well.

Comment: Great bakery with nice sandwich options in liberty station. They have a diverse selection of breads from croissants to baguettes to breads for slicing. The sandwiches are surprisingly good.My only complaint is with the extra fees. Instead of just erasing and updating the prices on the board, they add an extra fee on the check. This fee is blamed on prices needing to increase due to minimum wage laws. If that is the case, just increase the prices. There is no point to hide inflation by having an extra fee.

Comment: This is a buzzing bakery cafe with a wide variety of artisan breads, sandwiches, caffeinated beverages and baked goods. There is almost always a line but two cashiers take care of the customers ordering from the entire menu and one cashier assists bread purchasers only, moving through the guests pretty quickly. My cashier made recommendations as I had trouble deciding between two espresso-based items. The seasonal rose latte was delicious but a tad too sweet for my liking, masking the espressoflavor. The single slice of the raisin-hazelnut bread was scrumptious with a slathering of salted butter. My only regret was not ordering an additional slice of another flavor to try! The crumb was tender and the crust was notunreasonably hard.Other reviewers have noted that their pastries are not as excellent and I would have to agree that the brioche dough on the hazelnut twist was a bit dry and lacked the pillowy texture I’ve come to expect from brioche.Picked up a sourdough baguette for the road and was pleased to see that there were a variety of flavors to choose from. Another customer hugged 6 baguettes of her choosing, paying for them and then walked out happily. I was envious! Haha.Service is prompt, tables are bussed pretty quickly considering the dining room was almost full with patrons like professors and tutors meeting with students and friends meeting for lunch.Parking is easy to find, and Liberty Station is a wonderful place to hangout, allowing a pause from the daily grind to pray and give thanks for the beauty of God’s creation and for the brave men and women who continue to fight for our freedoms all over the world.

Comment: My favorite bakery and sandwich place in San Diego. Close proximity to the airport means that I try to stop by at the start and end of my trips! Ive been visiting for many, many years. My favorite is the chocolate loaf and chocolate buns that is available on weekends. The loaf can be ordered whole or sliced.Half sandwiches are quite large, about the size of my hand! I really enjoy the home roasted tomatoes in the sandwiches. Sourdough is really good and chewy. All the baked goods and breads are very fresh! I recommend the cinnamon rolls.Nice outdoor area with umbrellas and tables to enjoy the sunshine, preferably with good food and company. Indoor seating is also available.Edit, Jan 2024:The cafe is now open 7 days under new management. Prices are a tad higher, but still fairly reasonable for a special brunch out.The chocolate boule is still available on weekends.Ive tried both 3 piece bread samplers, with both sweet and savory toppings. I love fresh bread and these do not disappoint!

Comment: Love this place. Been coming here for over 9 yrs now. Since new owners prices have increased exponentially. My favorite are cinnamon rolls, awesome sandwiches, breads are good but the last owner did not sell everything. Think she kept the secret ingredient. I remember the cinnamon rolls tasting different --missing just a hint of chewy from all the bread ingredients. Even though I think the recipe is off, still love shopping here for all my baked goods.

Comment: We love this cafe in Liberty Center! We’ve tried various sandwiches and the savory bread plate, and have yet to be disappointed. The vanilla latte with oat milk is my husband’s go-to drink, and I always steal some sips when he’s not looking! The pesto is some of the best I have ever had. The only reason this review is four stars is that the sandwiches and treats are a bit pricey.

You can easily split a 1/2 sandwich w someone as it is thick w turkey, lettuce & sun-dried tomatoes. We also had a comfortable PB&J on whole grain & a cup of Jamaica to drink. Indoor & outdoor seating, two lines; one for bread & another for sandwiches & other food. What a treat!

Comment: Exceptional quality food. Very high prices. Often long waits on the weekends, just to get your order in. A conventional bottle of water runs $3.50. So does a single cookie. Keep in mind, its a thick, beautiful, and tasty cookie. But just a cookie. Half a roast beef on sourdough sandwich is over $12. Its beautifully made, and delicious. But if you want a whole sandwich, $$$ ! So if money is not an issue for you, this restaurant will be a delight.

It was soft in the middle and had a double-baked buttery crust. It was a wonderful place to enjoy fresh bread and learn about bread making. Their board explaining the various types of bread is clever.Order a salad if you want greens. It would be great to see a pinch of greens with vinaigrette on a sandwich plate, instead of half a plate empty.Bring a basket and go home with bread for the week!

Comment: DELICIOUSNESS! I had the whole turkey sandwich with surprise me bread because i couldnt decide. Bought a loaf home for my Dad and the ornery half of the sandwich. Half was more than enough. Needless to say, my Dad LOVED it. And so did I. Atmosphere=wonderful. Customer service=awesome! I really dont eat out much, but will definitely go there again..Next week for lunch 😋

Comment: Absolutely the freshest, most flavorful bread in San Diego! They also have scones and full loaves of a variety of whole artisan breads which they will slice for you. Great variety of sandwiches and pastries, as well. Parking is easily available nearby. If you havent tried it yet, do yourself a favor and give it a go. Highly recommended!

Comment: What a great place for coffee, cinnamon rolls, scones or a bread plate for breakfast, or an awesome sandwich (turkey cobb is my fav) and cookies for lunch. And take home a foccacia pizza for dinner! The breads are all outstanding. Especially love the Rosemary Olive Oil bread & baguettes. We love this place.

Comment: I have been here a few times and I recently just brought my father there after he traveled out of town for Thanksgiving to visit my sister. So on my way back from the airport we decided on this place because he enjoys fresh bread and hes very health conscious. We had some German rye and they were nice enough to slice it as well as a few cinnamon rolls with raisins. The part I wanted to emphasize about my experience there was I inadvertently and to be quite honest moronically left my billfold that lookrd like a CD case over by the coffee preparation area. I say moronically because I had left quite a bit of cash in there by accident along with the menu of course because I wanted to bring a menu home. I do not recall the ladys name but the person I talked to on the phone had a very pleasant Spanish accent and when I inquired about whether or not I left my billfold in their establishment this wonderful human was very kind and asked me what was in there and I frankly said well just cash and she says oh yes its here and everything is still in it. I said great I will be back in about 30 minutes. I came back and I was happy to find that she was absolutely right everything was still in there and so I was happy to give them at the very least a $25 tip in their tip jar just because of the honesty and Goodwill that they extended. So Im giving them five stars and more if I could. This place has always been a wonderful place to get fresh breads and sandwiches and what my dad liked about the place was that you can get half a sandwich instead of a whole one. Because he watches his diet and he tries to stay healthy at 72 he sometimes doesnt want to eat a whole entire sandwich or to pay for a whole entire Sandwich price. This is one of the very few places that you can get a fresh sandwich and a half a sandwich for a decent price. I highly recommend this place and I will absolutely be coming back as many times as I can as well as always leaving a big tip in their tip jar. Moreover I wanted to extend my sincerest gratitude to this lovely lady as well as the staff for their honesty. I will definitely be coming back here every time Im in the area

Comment: I am so happy that CDG took over the restaurant from the previous owner. This is been a favorite sandwich shop of mine for many years. One of these days Ill even try something other than the usual 1/2 turkey cobb sandwich. (Im not sure I could even eat a whole!) I hadnt been able to go in a while, but, today my sandwich was excellent. They were out of my favorite bread, the multigrain. :(I did purchase the rosemary olive oil sliced to go! This particular loaf looks like a good size for making sandwiches at home.Still a great spot!

Comment: This is a great spot for breakfast/lunch. There is a large selection of bread, sandwiches, pastries, cookies, and hot drinks. You can select which bread you would like for your sandwich. My go to is the turkey cobb sandwich on multigrain bread - the turkey cobb is an amazing sandwich! It has turkey, bacon, lettuce, blue cheese, avocado and roasted tomatoes (I order without tomatoes). I have enjoyed just about every pastry there such as the cinnamon rolls (eat it there warm), scones, and orange sugar bun. I tried the mixed berry danish during my last visit and loved it. The pastry was flakey and filled with a creme/custard and topped with berries. I would also highly recommend trying a hot butterscotch latte. Its wonderfully indulgent and the butterscotch flavor is outstanding. The restaurant has bathrooms onsite and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor patio is dog friendly. There is plenty of parking since this is located in Liberty Station. Be prepared for a wait - its always been slow to order and slow to get your order but its absolutely worth the wait. There is usually a separate, shorter line if you are just ordering bread. This place is with a trip if you are looking for good bread, sandwiches, pastries, and a butterscotch latte!

Comment: This is one of my go-to places for a sandwich because I know it’s gonna be delicious. This time around, I tried the Italian salami on sourdough. You get to pick which bread you would like for any sandwich, their variety is great. All amazing sounding options. In the past, I’ve tried the veggie Cobb and I was blown away. It was so good, it was hard to try something different this time around!I wish they served soups to go with the sandwiches, but on the bright side, they have such a variety of breads and pastries, it’s not hard to find something else to enjoy.

Comment: Poor customer service. Went there this morning and left feeling disappointed. The cashier was incompetent and slow as molasses. I ordered some pastries along with some coffees and two small pumpkin lattes. My total was over $60! As I stood there reviewing my order, I noticed the lattes were 14.95 ea.!!! I kept insisting there must be a mistake and the cashier just kept assuming me that in fact that was the price. I finally asked the other employee who was just standing at the next register just watching the back and forth. She finally came over and fixed the price to $5.95. All of this left a bad impression and then on top of it she forgot to add a coffee to my order🙄. I tried getting in line again but the cashier just moved at snail speed so I finally gave up trying. Never going back!!

Comment: One of the best REAL bakeries in SD. Great breads, pastries, staff, location. Not a super-high-end food experience like Izola in downtown SD, but at about half the cost, its *very* nearly as good and their selection is, in comparison, vast. Also a great match to Bread & Cie in Hillcrest, another go-to. All great, but Con Pane seems to be more consistent and the setting is easily the best.

Quite a few other dogs were also with their people having lunch in the patio. Not sure if there are typically more than a few dogs or if there was a higher number due to the walk. All dogs were well behaved - just hanging out with theirpeople. It was really great.

Comment: Most inefficient restaurant I’ve order from! I have food allergies and they won’t take my order over the phone. I tried ordering 2 sandwiches online…20 minutes later there aren’t options to put things on the side for my husband since he doesn’t have allergies. Called back again and they said to just order online then call back immediately to share the extra changes that the website wouldn’t make. So that’s 3 calls and now it’s been 45 minutes. This lady was confused and was talking over us. You should pause and listen to your customers verse assume why they are calling. They had 3 different people answer the phone and now we have to wait another 30 minutes when they could have taken my order over the phone in 2 minutes from the start.

Comment: Went there twice in just a couple days, just because they were so good. I love bread. For me it is amazing. And to find great bread, this is the icing on the cake. It’s like going to San Fransisco and going to a certain famous sourdough shop. For me, this is the boudin’s of the south and that is nothing short of awesome. The selection of breads are amazing, not to mention the breads themselves. The cinnamon rolls are great and their sandwiches are ridiculously good. And as a bonus, their peanut butter doggie treats are a hit with the four legged friends too.

Comment: Their food is great (specifically their sandwiches and their hot chocolate), but I took one star off because of their hours. Lunch here is rarely a possibility for us so when we do come we’re usually rushing to get a sandwich for dinner before they close.Last time I went in it was pretty chaotic because they were trying to close just as a bunch of people came in presumably for dinner as well. I think they could alleviate this by either closing by 4pm or not closing until 8pm or later.Closing at 5pm causes a last minute rush at closing time which just results a poor experience for both customers and employees.

The cashier said that they might not be able to put the avo on the bread. I thought that was weird. But, o.k. Youll just clean an extra plate. Then, the server brought my food. Every time I get the salami on kalamata olive bread it is the best sandwich I have ever had.Get yourself a chocolate bread loaf, a chive and gruyere, or any kind of loaf while you are there. We always take one to-go, grab some jam at the local farmers market, and drive back home while ripping pieces off the loaf and dunking them in jam. It has become a family tradition. It was devastating when they closed, but we were so happy that they reopened we drove back to San Diego the very next weekend.

Comment: Ordered the pan chocolata roll and the gruyere and chives loaf. Omg that gruyere and chives loaf is SO GOOD. Cheese bread is soft and cheesey with every bite. Outside has good chives and onion flavor. Very tasty!! Available on Thurs, sat and sun!Chocolata roll is ok. It tastes like hints of chocolate but is a hybrid between a chocolatey pastry and a bread roll... Which might sound amazing but... (You know you really want one or the other, or both but not a hybrid).

Comment: The food isnt the same since the reopening --after closing for a long time. For years we would sandwiches and sweets for sailing regatas. Breads are over cooked so unfortunately used to make sandwiches which makes it harder to bite . And cinnamon rolls are dry and over kill on the cinnamon. Comment: Great food and lots of options for customization, but it took awhile to be acknowledged at the counter for online pick up. Everyone was very busy, so I was understanding about it.The lack of star is because the order was wrong (the sandwich was requested and acknowledged without mayo) and you cant just pick mayo off. Too far to drive back, so my partner just had to eat something they didnt like. Id give it another shot though!

Comment: Extensive menu options from sandwiches to pastries. Highly recommend favorite of mine; turkey cob on rosemary olive oil bread and a butter toffee peanut butter cookie. If you might be lucky enough to show up on a day that non-menu items are available, then you might get rewarded with a real treat created on a bakers whim!My 2 favorite non-menu items are almond brioche toast and Italian wedding cookies; come to think of it, they might be the only ones not on the regular menu.Addendum December 2020:Reopened about 2 weeks ago after being closed since January. Looks almost the same inside minus the historic racing pics. Note: There is no eating allowed on the premises at the moment due to the pandemic. Not certain if all of the pre-closure menu items were on the menu, but gladly all of the ones my family loves still are. Picked up a couple Rosemary & Olive Oil loafs and some cookies... a couple of Dark Chocolate Chunk, and my personal favorite, Butter Toffee Peanut Butter. You will encounter a line to enter, how long depends on the time of the day you decide to go. The line encourages social distancing as per state recommend guidelines and face coverings are required to enter. You can order ahead online, but they dont offer curbside pickup, so you have to get out of your car and into the line.Overall, the Cohn group has done a fantastic job reopening this Point Loma icon. Thank you!

Comment: That was the most infuriating food service experience I can recall having. We were in from out of town and met some friends at Liberty Station for a few hours before catching our flight out. The restaurant was busy, but people seemed to be cycling through. We stood in line for 20 minutes to order, which seemed to be standard. What wasnt even close to standard was the 90+ minutes waiting for our food. We didnt even get our drinks. After 30 minutes I went back to the counter to ask about our meal. This was not a complicated order, two PBJ sandwiches, a grilled cheese, three lemonades, water, and coffee. When I didnt get an actual answer I stayed watching as one woman seemed to be assembling and sending out orders. She must have pushed out another 5 orders before I enquired again and explained that we had a flight to catch. One of the servers told me 7-8 minutes. Not even close. Finally we absolutely had to walk out the door, and were worrying about getting bags checked in time. By this point almost 2 hours had elapsed since we had gotten in line to order and apparently we were now waiting for them to make more lemonade. I told her to forget the drinks because we couldnt take them through security. I asked her to refund the cost of the drinks and she did, and at the very last moment of the encounter we finally got an apology. What a stressful 2 hours to end a really lovely and relaxing trip. I dont often give poor reviews, everyone has bad days, but this was completely avoidable with a little care when I first enquired about our order.

Comment: No such thing as a quick stop here. Too busy for pleasure. No waiting seating for the elderly. 30 min wait in line to order. 30 min wait to eat on an unheated patio. Food is delicious. Thats why its so busy. I suggest order to pick up.

Comment: One of our favorite eateries to hit when we come to San Diego. Their bread is too good and their sandwiches on said bread are all delicious. The almost grilled cheese is our favorite. So much gorgonzola! Be warned that you will come face to face with tempting pastries on your way to order a sandwich and their cinnamon rolls are even better than you imagine

Comment: Its also part of Liberty Market. Pick your meats and pick your breads. Its not like Subway or any fast food sandwiches. The bread is very good, exotic type of breads such as sourdough, olive bread, etc. I could not describe but just go there and order lunch, enjoy lunch with exotic bread and cup of coffee. Parking isnotsobad during weekend but exercise before and after lunch. Good history too. The location not the restaurant. I dont want to spoil your adventures but trust me.

Comment: Turkey Cobb on toasted rosemary bread. Hands down the best sandwich I’ve ever had. Sad that they are randomly closed on Wednesdays, but their sandwiches are so amazing and their bread is superior to any bread I’ve had in SD. Get it as a meal, go to the park nearby, and live your best life. 🥪 ☕️

Comment: Loved the bread, and the service was alright, but why in heck isnt there a breakfast sandwich there to show off how amazing their bread is for breakfast? I would say their cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting and raisins in it was good, but a bit dense (I like mine a bit softer inside). I loved the cheese and chives loaf I got though. Got through that so fast with my gf. We loved that bread!

Comment: We had been coming here for a couple years and it has been progressively worse. The bread is good but thats about the only okay thing about this place. I went today and had the rudest and worst experience. We waited 30 minutes in line to order then we waited an hour for a SINGLE sandwich and cinnamon roll. In all it took almost two hours for 1 sandwich! When I complained the supposed owner was rude to me about me asking a girl behind the counter and slowing her down to make sandwiches. Then it took another 20 minutes to get our one sandwich and cinnamon roll. The waitress expressed how unacceptable the wait time was and offered a refund and for me to go to the counter. When I went to the counter the man who works the bread only line basically didnt care that I waited an hour for a sandwich and also that many people behind me who ordered 4 or 5 sandwiches got their stuff before me. He then stated that because i got my food I was not worthy of compensation. I order food for my job here all the time and spend hundreds of dollars a time and we will never use this business again. The man behind the register said he was the owner and could not have cared less that I was upset that due to their lack of care I was stack at a sandwich shop for 2 hours. I will never step foot into this restaurant again. And I would suggest no one waste hours of your day for an okay sandwich. I have never experienced an owner caring so little that his customer who has spent hundreds upon hundreds at his restaurant and was one of the rudest people in have ever experienced. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON MEDIOCRITY AND RUDENESS!

Comment: This place is so much more than a bakery! My husband introduced me to this place by claiming it has one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever. He did not lie (or oversell it). I dont think you can go wrong with anything in the menu. Were especially fond of their butterscotch lattes!Weve waited in the weekend brunch line a few times; the food is definitely worth the wait (especially if you want to eat there). The last few times we had it though, I called in our order & we just picked it up at the To-Go counter. So much easier!

Comment: Best Sandwhiches in Liberty Station!!! Wonderful bakery, an actual bakery with daily fresh bread and pastries. Loved the gourmetcoffee and outdoor seating area as well.I doubt you will ever eat a more delicious PB&J. Same thing with their orange rolls. Check their hours before going. Otherwise you might be disappointed and have to eat at one of the other delicious options nearby.

Comment: We shared a whole Turkey Cobb sandwich and the savory bread baker plate. The sandwich was awesome with the gorgonzola and bacon really adding a lot to the sandwich. The bread basket plate could easily be shared by 4 or more people. It includes a lot of bread! We chose the multi grain, French baguette and rosemary beads. All were quite good.

Comment: I love Liberty Station. I often try to stop in Con Pane to get a loaf of bread (cranberry walnut or like) for breakfast. My major issue is that the line is always long and moves super slow. Even when it is not packed! The saving grace... 2 things for me (1) if you just want to grab a loaf of fresh baked bread there is a separate line and (2) the food is consistently good and fresh. Parking is free and convenient.

Comment: Dont wait in the long regular entrance line if coming for bread, go through outdoor cafe door on the left. Usually much shorter line for bread only. We get the French country bread and love it. Lasts only 2 days freshness wise so eat fast. Sandwiches ok but the breads are what we come here for, best bread Ive had in the States and I used to live in Belgium so I know good bread! :-)

Comment: I wish I could give them a zero, but they get 1 star for their bread. Their service is the absolute worst I’ve ever experienced. Sometimes I think they’re in a competition to win a gold medal for world’s worst customer service. Don’t count on them to open when they say they will be open. They will open when they want and when they’re ready. Never count on more than one person taking orders. At Cone Pane, a long and slow line seems to be their ultimate objective. And their motto is never ever Customers First. Here, it is always always always Customers Last! My dream is for Con Pane to be taken over by someone who treats customers with an ounce of respect and appreciation. If that doesn’t happen, I hope a new bakery comes to town so no one will be forced to endure this horrible treatment again.

Whether you are getting one of the daily breads for a special meal, or a sweet treat to enjoy by the harbor, youll love the variety and quality. My personal recommendations are the kalamata olive bread for sandwiches or the Pane Cioccolata which is only made on the weekends (chocolate bread).Phone orders are much speedier if you know what you want, or if youre just here for bread, check out the bread only line for ordering.

Comment: Been a customer since they opened in their first location. Great bread but really disappointing evolution of service. Twice in one month, they’ve hung a sign on their door stating they are closed “for employee training” - sorry for the inconvenience! Complete nonsense, try employee training before or after scheduled hours like most businesses.Like your recorded phone message says...”Eat More Bread”. Comment: The fresh bread is just simply one of the best. The only unfortunate thing is that because there are no preservatives the bread will be somewhat stale by the next day, hard by the third, and more then likely molding by the fourth. The sandwiches and pastries are really good but its that bread that really makes this place popular. I recommend calling and reserving one of you intend to pick some up any later then 12, as they dont make too many in order to avoid having any left over. I highly recommend the sourdough.

The assortment of sweet and savory breads will make it hard to choose, You can order sandwiches, or just try the breads.A true rustic bakery experience with seating outside and in. The best part was how fresh everything was. The chocolate bread was a wonderful treat, and they had large gooey cinnamon rolls as well. The location is quite charming and historic. The only downside was how loud it would get when plains and jets would fly by.Overall a Must Try if your in the area!

Comment: I finally got back to Con Pane since moving back! This Liberty Station location is spacious, and the two order lines - one for bread only or phone orders - makes the wait minimal. I got a roasted turkey sandwich on rosemary and olive oil bread with chips, tea and a cookie. The breads are all baked in the store, so a fresh and tasty! The house roasted tomatoes added a sweetness that complemented the stone ground mustard I had in place of the mayo. The cookie was delicious. Served at room temperature, it was soft, not too sweet, and had plenty of size. The tea was ok, not quite what I was expecting, but did have free refills, so a plus there. I have enjoyed Con Pane for many before moving, and look forward to enjoying them for many more. If you are in the mood for a wonderful sandwich, make the trip to Point Loma and enjoy the taste of Con PaneAs always, I rate stars as follows: 1- not good all around, 2- some good good value, but pretty common and nothing stood out, 3- a solid choice all around, 4- one of my favorites, 5- a great experience all around and very unique for the area.

Comment: The best bread in San Diego, hands down. I grew up in Berkeley which is known as the gourmet ghetto and one of the reasons is The Cheese Board which is known for both their amazing selection of cheeses, but also their freshly baked breads. I used to travel back to Berkeley just for the sourdough baguettes (seriously!). When Con Pane arrived on the scene, I stopped having to leave town to get good bread. They have daily breads that you can rely on - we particularly like the weekends because thats when the chocolate rolls are made. Watch out for the lunchtime crowds, the lines can be outrageous. It pays to call ahead to place a sandwich order and then get in the bread only/phone order line to pick it up.

Comment: Sad I waited so long to walk into the bakery because this is easily one of the best, if not the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Quality ingredients. Not too sweet, strong spice accentuations, especially in the icing. You will not regret coming here. Strong cinnamon flavor in the roll, strong vanilla flavor in the icing, avoids the overuse of sweetining agents like sugar. As I write this and eat this roll I am undoubtedly convinced that this IS the best cinnamon roll I have ever had. Also had the vanilla shortbread and was pleasantly surprised to learn it was not overly sweet and nicely accentuated with vanilla as well. You can tell a lot of thought and effort was put into this recipe and delicacy. Extremely fair prices. I have nothing but positive ratings for this establishment and I consider it to be nothing less than extremely high class.

Comment: This is my go to bakery! I love all of their breads and rolls but my personal favorite is their roasted tomato and cream cheese foccacia. The cream cheese is just perfectly browned and the tomatoes in combination with the garlic makes this. The deduction of the one star is the price of their prepared foods, that sandwiches should have more meat to be worth $7 a sandwich, and the fact they charge the price of a new iced tea for a refill is mind boggling to me.

Comment: Best bread outside of France!!! Their bread is made fresh daily, they usually sell out of most of their baguettes by the end of the day. So the early bird definitely wins! They have really good sandwiches, and they make picnic boxes, if you want to go enjoy San Diego. They also make scones and other pastries. Their cinnamon bun is really good, as is the sugar pearl brioche (only weekends). I love the traditional baguette and their epi, and as far as loaves the rosemary and olive oil is really good, (would recommend for any sandwiches). Their focatia bun are also really good for burgers. This is definitely a neighborhood place, they know the locals, and everyone is super friendly. It gets very busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait in line. They are closed on Wednesday.

Comment: The Turkey Cobb on rosemary bread is not just a sandwich. It is the exemplar, the platonic ideal of what a sandwich should be. Just go. Youll see.
