Comment: Cool vibe, good coffee and happy to find some pastries without egg. We tried mango scone and banana bread. Scone was bit dry and they don’t warm up so wasn’t enjoyable but banana bread was as moist and amazing. You will enjoy coffee here.

Comment: Went in not quite knowing what I wanted, but the woman who served me helped me pick. She was amazing, the vibes inside and outside were immaculate, and the location is great. If you want, you can make a whole afternoon out of it - pop over to the brewery or cider place for a flight, visit one of the food trucks for a bit of lunch. Super cool

Tried the yellow fruit and the notes is obviously on the acidic side which is perfect with its rich, distinct floral aroma. They also sell a variety of roasted beans. Comment: Ordered a savory pastry, cheese and bacon and when requested them to please warm it up they told me “we don’t do that here”, had to eat it cold as I planned on having breakfast there. I guess they expected me to bring my own oven?Then I ordered a pour over and they served it to me in a paper cup which imo, unless you specifically request it to-go, should have been glass to fully experience the coffee.Not a good experience imo.On the other side, the coffee selection they have is really good and ample, I like they have little cards on each coffee with recommendations

Yes, it feels like a coffee brewery rooted in Berkeley or Portland that suddenly drops into San Jose downtown one day, no notification, just happened.So yes, for this kind of creative free spirit run place, you should be open minded, and open to experience non-traditional coffee beans.To start, ask for pourover, your chance to explore various of flavors.We tried Amerina, noted to be honey & stone berries, and it tasted like cold brew coffee jumps into a generous pot of floral green tea; the balance of lightly floral scent of the coffee is spectacular & pleasant, it’s a flavor that’s rarely found.Then India, noted to be various berries incl. black berries, tasted peculiar: like a book soaked in water & dimmed into a coffee pot; a very strong note of wet papers.And the bean choices are overwhelming, we picked the Yellow Fruit, and it’s fermented with cherry. We used our owned coffee machine to make espresso with it:OK, it’s just perfectly balanced with the smoothness of expresso, and ended with a note of a juicy ripe water bursting cherry.They didn’t mark the bean price but the bag of bean is the most expensive bag I’ve ever bought.But it’s worth it!

Comment: I was driving through and needed something to eat. Using my Google maps, I got super lucky this place was the closest. Another local guide posted a photo of a pastry and coffee cup...that did it. I went straight there. Walking in you pass local artisans works, which are also for sale. The posted menu popped when I saw the dark chocolate coconut cream. While waiting to place my order I added 2 oversized knock me out chocolate chip cookies. The edible, drinkable treats, exceptional service, using my name, thanking me created a wow share with my friends and family!

Comment: My recent visit was spurred on by the enthusiastic recommendations of local friends. First things first, their coffee: I tried their cappuccino and was pleasantly surprised. It was rich, frothy, and definitely on the stronger side (btw I dont add any sugar in my coffee). Now, onto the ambiance. A very industrial-chic decor and warehouse-inspired vibe, exuding an aura of creativity and innovation. Super Unique to me and perfect for casual catch-ups with friends.I cant give this place a solid 5 because of the wait time and the loud music. The entire vibe of the place is cozy, mainly because of the Christmas decorations. The place has central heating, thankfully it made me feel warm from the cold weather outside. Got a strawberry scone, which was probably the worst scone I had in my life - a dense heavy lump of flour, with a lingering unpleasant aftertaste. Then the bathrooms were locked with a sign “staff only” and I realized that this is not a place to enjoy or sit down and have a cup of coffee. It’s a place to get the coffee and get out.

The order seems to have gotten lost in transit...which can happen, but I cannot get anyone respond to my emails, nor do they answer their phone (no voice mail and constant busy signals). I now have to deal with my credit card to dispute the charge as these guys dont respond.Update: I have modified my grade as the business did eventually reach out and respond to my emails and sent a replacement order. They take excruciatingly long time to fulfill online orders and when you call them to follow up, they take zero responsibility for any order update or delays, with an attitude. The online order never gets updated. As an example, I placed order to pickup on 10/18 and it’s 10/24 without any kind of update and no phone pickup either. It’s such a bad customer service that I am forced to look elsewhere.

Or you can order for pickup online and the beans will be roasted to order (in 2 weekdays according to their FAQ)! I didnt try the pastries, but they looked good too.The shop is laid out nicely, with merch etc. Unfortunately there is not much seating - the only seating is not in the shop, its in a common area, with just metal tables and chairs. Comment: Recently came back and an average cup here is still the best cup for cities around.Their pastries are worth a try,I quite enjoy the fruit pies, but particularly pumpkin pie in the fall season. Note that these are soft crust, not flaky. So if the crust makes all the difference for you and soft isnt your thing, then youll probably want to give these a pass. But if you do, theyre very worth it. Generously filled and tasty.

Seems like a pretty big space so I wish they had an oven or microwave to heat the pastries up but other than that I’d recommend! My drink came out super fast too. The sausage polenta pie was just ok, not enough seasoning for my taste but decent filling to pastry ratio, the pastry was ok, nice color on it but could be more flaky/buttery depending on what kinda vibe they’re going for. I’d try the other pies though next time.

The coffee is mind blowing and very consistent. The staff is super friendly, service is quick, and the location is convenient. Special treats are always available such as pastries or peanut brittle from Snapdragon, or Local Willow Glen honey. A++++++

Comment: A great local coffee shop that roasts their own beans. Unfortunately 6/8ths of their massive space is cornered off for roasting and warehouse needs. I’ve seen other places roast using less than half that space by streamlining their set up (look to Compass Coffee in DC for an example). What I could see over the barrier hinted at inefficient design. All the tables and chairs for customers are in the hallways that are shared by other businesses - which is unfortunately not heated/cooled, while their shop space is. As much as I like their coffee, I probably won’t be returning here given that set up. It’s clear they are prioritizing their roasting space over serving drinks to enjoy outside of the home. Maybe this place would have more seating and a better atmosphere in the summer.That said, if you are looking for a craft coffee to go, or locally roasted beans to take home, come here. Otherwise pick a different shop.

Comment: I came here after 3-4 years looking for the creme brûlée coffee that I had back then and they no longer had it. Bummer! Because I wanted my sister to try it. They did have a dulce de leche which was a good substitute but there was no thrill of cracking the glazed top like of the crème brûlée. I got the hot version. It was sweet. I also got a chai tea with whole milk. They dont have reduced fat but they had almond and I believe oat milk as alternatives. The chai was very flavorful and sweet and I loved it. Nice loft/warehouse looking venue, not really a place to sit and drink.

Comment: I have been going to Chromatic Coffee for a while now, at this location as well as another they had before the pandemic. They are very serious and dedicated about their coffee, I personally love their DCM (dark chocolate mocha). It has a very fun ambience being located in an old converted warehouse, which definitely gives it an old style urban rustic feel. I love many coffee shops in San Jose but I always come back to this one, having nostalgia for the place.

After10 days and asking about it with no response, cancelled it.They also used to offer a free cup of coffee when you buy a bag of beans, and apparently that is not offered anymore.Their coffee is still good, but I dont know what went wrong with their operation and why they cant get their act to fix it.

Ordered a mocha and the underlying espresso was deeply burnt and basically undrinkable. Notes of charred tire. Judging from the waiting line, I got unlucky or else people dont care. If I was a barista here, though, I would have been able to smell that I screwed up, and so I think Im justified in saying something is wrong here. (Was going to make them redo it, but the line was so long I felt bad.)

Comment: My partner and I visit this coffee shop almost everyday, usually it’s great. Today we went and met a friend for coffee, ordered two iced vanilla lattes, and a dulce hot. The first time around it was fine. Myself, and the friend wanted coffees to-go so my partner went and ordered the same thing for us. We got the dulce correctly, and the latte came out hot, we asked for a remake. The remake came out and when I took a sip, it did not taste correct as it didn’t taste like vanilla at all nor did it look like what I had previously. I took it back inside to ask for what I ordered and explained it did not taste good, and I did not like it. The barista told me that she made it correctly, and I tried to explain that I just had this and it didn’t taste the same at all and it wasn’t good, she began arguing with me again, stating she made it correctly. At this point I’m frustrated with the pushback and upset for paying for something I will not drink, and say forget it, and throw out the coffee and leave.I could’ve understood if I was bringing an empty cup or half drank and complaining, but I didn’t. Very disappointed with the customer service today, or lack thereof.

Comment: I ordered 3 bags of coffee online at the end of December. I asked they be ground for an automatic drip machine. I was excited to try to a new blend and when I opened the bag, the coffee was ground super fine as if suited for an espresso machine. The same applied for all 3 bags. I tried over-compensating and under-compensating the amount of coffee needed to brew 2-4 cups but no matter what I tried, the coffee tasted awful. I emailed 2x to no avail and finally called to express my displeasure only to be told they dont regularly read emails. I finally received an email saying their coffee is specifically ground for their brewing equipment at the Cafe. Maybe that should be stated and explained on their website before accepting online orders. My $40+ order was a total waste and I will never order from Chromatic again. Too many other outstanding coffee roasters who understand customer service to choose from.

Comment: Staff was nice. Coffee was better than average, but not great in my opinion. I thought the prices were out of whack compared with the quality and quantity I received. It was fine, but I wouldnt go out of my way to go there. I also got a chocolate chip cookie. Its texture was great, but it tasted like I was eating a fried egg. The egg taste overpowered any other flavors. Ugh.

Comment: GET THE COBBLER LATTE!! Oatmilk, confensed milk, strawberry compote with cinnamon, it is an absolute dessert of a drink. Get it with double shots of your preferred caffeination otherwise you won’t be able to taste the coffee 😂There’s 2-3 tables of 2-3 chairs each on weekdays, you can usually find something. The entrance is inside the warehouse, but pickup is at the window out front.

They offer coffee from producers in South America. The coffee is recently roasted (ours was roasted 2 days ago when picked it up). The flavor is great. They offer decent varieties and the presentation is wonderful. PLUS, they give you a free coffee or cold brew with each bag! A little pricy but you pay for quality! Much better than the garbage you can buy at the supermarket that was roasted months ago.The location:We loved the vibe here! They have outdoor seating, the walls and hallways were decorated with art. It had a small town trendy feel and we stayed longer just to enjoy it! Parking is a little tight but you should be able to find a spot!Overall, 10/10 for a great coffee experience whether you’re looking to stock up or just enjoy a cold brew in the sun. Will return!

Comment: The coffee shop greets you with a refreshing smell of freshly roasted and grounded coffee! Inside the store, on one end you can see a few people working on roasting and packing coffee beans which are also sold inside the shop. I could see a wide variety of roasted single origin coffee beans on sale. I was also told that they grind the coffee beans for free based on whether you use it in an espresso machine, chemex, moka pot, etc.I bought a latte, and it came with a latte art on it. The coffee was good. I feel the price is slightly on the higher end when compared to other coffee shops nearby. Maybe its justified pre-covid since you can sit there and work for some time enjoying the smell of freshly roasted coffee.

Comment: Chromatic Coffee is open during COVID everybody, so stop in and get your craft coffee fix. I recommend their flat white (I prefer oat milk with my espresso, a flavor I enjoy that also happens to be the new in thing) but have also had, at their other location (now Paper Moon Coffee) the Bonus Cup (which is like liquid crack and highly recommended if youre in NEED of waking up or focusing on boring textbooks) and their Dark Coconut Mocha (a delicate and decadent dessert drink).This location is slightly off our beaten path, but, happens to be by my wifes work, so, we stopped for an afternoon pick-me-up. They had some confusing taped arrows but it was fairly empty, since we came about thirty minutes before closing... Thats the other weird thing, they have some short hours. Probably because theyre targeting the morning crowd since theres not really anywhere to hangout outside at this place. However, for those not looking to hangout, they have a quick system and we saw someone else who ordered online ahead of time even.Service wasnt the most friendly, but, again, we did come right before closing and they were cleaning up and clearly needed some of their own coffee. After asking after the business, the barista lightened up quite a bit though, which was nice.
