Comment: Have always enjoyed their foodwould have given the employee a better service rating however when I went in there she was grumpy and seem to be in a rush and I would have ordered more but she kept asking me if there was anything else and I finally said after twice saying Im still deciding I just gave up and got the few items I knew I wanted we all have a bad day but when you take it out on a customer then the customer feels awkward spends less money and less time even though they have been going there off and on for some time and try to make it a point two partake in their yummy goodies when in the areaIs a quaint little place adorable setting nice place for lunch or just a quick coffee with friends

Comment: This hidden gem offers generous portions, delicious food and reasonable prices. I ordered the quiche Lorraine, breakfast crepe and fruit crepe. So good! Great coffee $4.00 and free refills! Full pint glass of fresh orange juice $4.25. The portions are large and one portion could feed two people!If you like fancy desserts and pastries, this place has a beautiful selection.

Comment: Server was rude. Came in to pick up a cake, he was angry and without regard dropped it on the counter almost hitting the register. I commented about his carelessness and he got angrier.He said he was made because I gave him the wrong name. I gave him Jennifer and it was under Jen with the same last name. He need a break and some customer service support.This bakery does not have boxes to fit their cakes. I am attaching the picture of the cake at the bakery and once we got it to the party. We weee told they do not carry boxes for this size cake they sell. Although our party was great the cake sucked all because of carelessness and attitude.

Comment: Based on multiple visits.Cafe and bakery with great food and nice staff.Ive come here for quick pastry pick up for breakfast, sit down breakfast/lunch/dinner, phone in take out meal ordering, take out for pastries/desserts/meals. They also do online order for pickup, custom cake orders and catering but I havent used this part of their services.Ive tried most pastries, and theyre all pretty good, but the muffins and chocolate chip cookies were not as tasty to me (Im not a muffin person, but SO gets them a lot here). Im partial to their fruit tarts, palmiers, chocolate mousse and creme brulee. They do have macarons, havent tried them yet. They also have some seasonal pastries, so its worth it to check back every so often.As far as regular food/meals, Ive had a bit of each category, and I havent eaten anything I wouldnt order again. I do order these more often though: arleys scramble, chicken florentine crepe, french onion soup, croque madame, blackened salmon salad, angel hair capellini with shrimp.Service time is reasonable for a small cafe style place with food that rivals many larger restaurants, it does take longer on weekends when theyre busy during typical brunch time hours. Early morning, mid afternoon, or evening hours are more quiet, and feels much more relaxed like a coffee shop or cafe. Either way, if you plan to order food from the kitchen, give yourself some extra time.July 2019: I noticed the consistency on food prep/plating has wavered a bit over the past months, based on multiple orders of same two things (arelys scramble and plain croissant) but no change in taste (still delicious). Croissants have sometimes had extra egg wash such that it pooled at the base of the croissant, then cooked and stuck to the pastry. Arelys scramble has had slight differences in the coverage of hollandaise and doneness of the toasted english muffins.

Comment: Nice neighborhood French cafe. Enticing glass case display of pastries and baked goods when you first enter. There is outdoor and indoor seating. Nice granite top tables, and cloth napkins add ambience. Fast, friendly service. Food was delivered quickly & with correct orders. The menu includes expected French brunch items: omelettes, crepes, quiches, salads. There is also a good children’s menu. Portions are large! I had a ham & cheese crepe with sides of potatoes & fruit. My daughter had a quiche with a side salad. My 2 year old grandson had a Mickey Mouse pancake, bacon, boiled egg and a side of fruit. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem.

The eggs in the Benedict were more like hard boiled eggs. The latte & hot chocolate were very good. Staff were friendly but super swamped with the volume of customers. The location is lackluster but they still have an amazing volume of customers.We’ll give it another try when it’s not so busy.

It’s so popular. We shared 4 different dishes and we all agreed the sweet dishes are much better than the savory ones. So I recommend the stuffed French toast and fruit crepes.

Finally went back yesterday since I was in the area. Their croissants tastes like they came from Costco. And their baguettes are horrible, mine was hard and tasted old. Comment: Went to pick up a birthday cake. There was a long line. They allowed people to cut into the line without checking even when objections when I was next to be served. Next server available refused to serve me and went to next person in line and and told me I had to wait for the next server who was still serving a customer. Note: I dont usually do anything about these things but the person cutting was giving the impression that physical violence would occur if I did not let them cut in line and employees did nothing. Although cake was delicious, I will never go back.

The service is great, the ambience is friendly and the dessert case at the entrance takes willpower to avoid buying one of everything. But my lunch was not good and the menu lacks healthy, vegetarian offerings.The vegetarian sandwich came with delicious, fresh bread. Unfortunately, the rest wasnt much. Just two thin slices of tomato, two tiny pickles, one small shred of roasted pepper, a few pieces of lettuce and a bunch of mayonaise.It was clear the sandwich had been slapped together with no attention to detail, no effort to ensure product quality. Whoever made the sandwich didnt care whether it was good or bad.There are many things to like about this place. But my lunch was not one of them.

After we were seated, we had to ask for menus. After that the service was great and so was the food. I ordered the 3 item omelette but had it scrambled with mushrooms, spinach, cheddar cheese, with a side of sausage and hash browns. My sister had the traditional breakfast with eggs and bacon and potatoes. The food arrived pretty quickly but her potatoes were cold which was kind of a disappointment, but the eggs were great and so was my scramble.

Comment: I would love to rate this place highly but unfortunately every time I go there Im disappointed by the quality of the food.The Cobb salad uses a spring mix which is just mushy and soggy instead of a nice crunchy classic Cobb salad. The proportions of everything are just off also.The eggs Benedict was mediocre and their potatoes are always undercooked.Their pastries are beautiful but just dont have good flavor. My son wouldnt even eat the cookies I got for him. That says a lot to me.I hope the owners and the management review their menu and their meals and turn this place around !

Only giving it four stars because I have not tried dinner and because on the eggs Benedict, they do **medium poached** not runny, which I love so I was disappointed in that. before I order them again, I will ask to see if they can do a soft poached for me. But so far all their pastries crêpes Panini’s are great. Really hard to leave there without buying something from the bakery to bring home! ***** One thing to note is that if you are dining in and get a side, croissant, scone, etc. ask them to warm it up otherwise it will be room temperature***** As busy as it gets if you need to wait, it’s not long at all and they give you a text message on your phone so you can see the status of your reservation and how many minutes your wait may be.

Comment: One of the few worthwhile spots to visit in Clairemont Town Center. After moving to the neighborhood from Ocean Beach, we were really missing restaurants with a local feel, but Arely has it! Probably the reason why theyre packed every day with customers. We visit frequently as my husband is French and enjoys speaking French with their friendly waitstaff. They also have a huge selection of pastries and desserts which are great to bring for dinner parties and are MUCH nicer than what Vons has around the corner.

Comment: Finally had the chance to try this place and it did not disappoint! We went in on 7/4/23 very early in the morning. We called ahead to make sure it was open since it was Independence Day and luickily, it was. We ordered two cappuccinos, one double shot of espresso, two croissants, an Arelys Scramble and French toast. The croissants were not as crispy on the outside as I would’ve liked, but everything else was excellent. Our server, Kevin, was fantastic. He had a great attitude and was really on top of it; he is what anticipatory customer service looks like. Even though the cafe was quite busy, he kept our water glasses filled and even remembered that one of us preferred our water sans ice!The basics: The ambiance is European-ish without being pretentious. Walking in, you will see a dessert and bakery case filled with delectable breads and pastries. You can order here for takeout. If you choose to dine in, the seating area is spacious yet cozy; the lighting is warm and makes you look pretty good (even if it’s only 7am and you were on a 4th of July weekend pub crawl the night before). The menu is varied and will have something for everyone. The music is nice and seems carefully chosen. The bathroom is clean and properly maintained. Outdoor seating is available. There is plenty of parking right in front of the cafe.Even if you are not in the North Clairemont area, it’ll be worth the drive. It was refreshing to see coffee for $2.70 when its double that price in most places in San Diego now. Each time we come, I say “Oh no, we didn’t get the nice waiter!” Then, I’m blown away by another awesome experience! Many restaurants, eateries and companies should take note (just come on in to eat!). They go above and beyond while serving delicious food- I can’t not order the ratatouille omelet EACH time in, it’s that good. The people- Kian was so patient and kind to my father and chatted him up a bit making the visit extra. He has smooth timing and multitasks while seeing the “whole picture”. Gretchen is so friendly and outgoing- she’s stoked on getting to know and connect with her eaters! Local gal connecting spreading the good vibes. This last time in we were served by Karen who has the sweetest smile and is quick and kind and goes above and beyond to make that service SMOOTH. She even got the manager when I demanded (lol- got to spread the good news) and again… Kevin was super kind, professional and it’s clear that his positive outlook spreads to the staff he has. Oh and not to mention Silvino! What teamwork- he didn’t let that card sit a minute and had it processed in no time adding to the teamwork and smooth flowing operation. Seriously awesome folks here. So tasty, everyone loved it, even my mom in law who said she normally does not like cake. You order a coffee to drink inside, and it is offered to you in a ceramic mug, with free refills. Comment: This place truly lives up to its name by serving high quality French pastries that does not disappoint.I ordered three different croissants, apple tart, and apple turnover, and arent they delicious!The regular croissant boasts one of the most beautiful layers I have ever seen in the US. Its crispy on the outside and chewy (in a good way because of the high gluten content) on the inside.The chocolate and almond croissants are packed with almond and chocolate, and the puff pastry on the apple turnover is simply great.The apple tart consists of candied apple slices coated with peach jelly, a rich and creamy egg custard, and a layer of pastry on the bottom. Every elements are great taste on their own and work magic when enjoyed together. A truly fascinating dessert.

Comment: I had really high expectations for the croissant, but was let down. It was sweet and buttery. However, the texture of the croissant wasn’t there. It was missing the crunchy and flakey texture that a croissant should have. Otherwise, it’s just a loaf of bread with excess butter.

So many choices and I have yet to meet a sweet I did not like! 🤩😂.I had a difficult time choosing between the pistachio cheesecake and the coconut mousse cake. The coconut one on this visit and I will have to come back soon to try the pistachio! They do have a restaurant that is open earlier in the day and I am definitely planning to come back and check them out for breakfast.If you are out and about and looking to have a little something sweet Arely French Bakery Cafe is a great place to stop for that treat! Comment: We just need a good DELI in Clairemont and they should just remove this item off their menu. I ordered a BLT with avocado to go. $2.00 extra for the avocado and it was so hard that I had to take it off the sandwich. The bread was stale and the bacon came crumbled so when you tried to pick it up it fell out between the bread. Though their deserts look wonderful my 1st and last time there. Very expensive lesson learned today..

Comment: Bought coffee & four pastries to go. Took over ten minutes for workers to wrap them up. Staff seemed inexperienced & confused. Carrot pastry had NO TASTE because it was freezing .... the lower part of their display case is apparently around 35 degrees. Pastries are supposed to be served near room temperature. Prices were rather high; they seem to be taking advantage of their great reputation. I think they are resting on their laurels.

Comment: I have been searching and calling around for yeast to make my own baked goods at home during this time, and its been out for weeks. I got the idea that maybe a local bakery would consider selling me any unbaked bread with yeast in it. Called all the local grocery stores and asked their bakery department, but theyre not allowed to sell raw bakery items. I happened to be near Arelys when I was going to give up and hesitated to even ask, but decided to anyway. THANK GOODNESS for Arelys! They were more than happy to sell their croissants to me unbaked and even proceeded to write down the best way to bake them. Ill of course make some croissants from them, but will use some to bake other items as well (I bought a dozen). What a wonderful local bakery and such kind and awesome service. Ive already make a cinnamon roll from one to test out after failing to make a yeastless one, and this one turned out PERFECT! Thank you so much!!

Comment: Went into the place with high expectations and left irritated. Walked in and place and it was fairly busy, found a seat and began my order. I waited and waited and waited while others were being serviced before me (which is normal since it should go in order). As I was waiting, a few other people behind me began to order... Still waiting 20 mins and nothing that Ive order has shown up but I noticed that the people behind me were getting the orders requested.I asked how much longer and was told not too long, roughly another 20 mins passed and people who order much later than me were getting the orders andnuet, Im still waiting for mine. I waited a total of 40 mins before I gave upal and asked for a refund and to leave.The only excuse I got was that the printer was out of paper and that mine was coming soon, so waiting a total of 45 mins gone by and I decided to leave while Im watching others who have ordered bigger plates and more items get things before me.Ill avoid this place because of the unprofessional and short staffed members of this facility. This was the first time Ive been here and the last.

Its low key, casual, perfect for Saturday morning breakfast, Sunday brunch, or a quick freshly baked snack or dessert. Comment: My first visit today. Wanted the chocolate mousse, which they didn’t have. The wonderful young lady who served me checked with the kitchen and they made it in five minutes or less. She packed it to go and suggested I chill it a bit before eating since it was fresh. I was so empresses by her spirit and attitude for customer service. Amazingly dark chocolate flavor. Look forward to dining in sometime to try their quiche, soups and sandwiches.

The service wasnt great.My girlfriend ordered a regular oatmeal and it was about 3:1 milk to oatmeal ratio (how do you mess up oatmeal?). She also ordered a side of potatoes which had little to no seasoning and werent cooked long enough. My waffles were given to me without syrup. No waiter came by so I had to search around to find a bottle near the kitchen.I would like to go back to this place, but only if know Ill get better food and better service...

I have never ate here before, but gave it a shot for my sons 1st birthday, asked if they can tone down the sweetness and decorate it blue ombre.. they delivered! Everyone loved it. The baker and staff were very nice, I really had no idea to what I wanted and they were very patient and reassuring me it will be great. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, but they often run out of certain items, so call ahead. Great french onion soup.

Comment: I like to go to Arelys right after church on Sundays. Theyre a great cafe to stop in with almost no wait. When there IS a line the staff always hustles to serve everyone in a timely fashion. I gave them 4 stars because sometimes the staff is a little scatter brained and I have to request items Ive ordered again. But they are always quick to fix the issue.Pastries are 5 STARS.Today I was hungry but I wanted something light to fill me. I got the fruit crepe and I was very satisfied! I dug into it because it looked so good before I could get a good picture. But it was basically symmetrical if you look at one end of the crepe its just as beautiful on the other side. And its as delicious as it is beautiful. Deadly combination.The pastries have the same beautiful and delicious combination. I have tried a handful since they have so many choices. Todays choice was the apple tarte. It was so good I forgot to snap a picture. But it was so good.

Comment: This is the most overpriced and basic sandwich restaurant that Ive been to in a long time. The service was much like their food, bland. My girlfriend and roommate are both French and this is not a true representation of France or their cuisine. Definitely not coming back.
