Comment: Im really hoping this location have more savory options like all their other bakery! There is probably one or two options and a ton of sweet options. I grew my love for 85 breads through their savory selection, so hopefully we get more of those here.I also got the milk bun today, this is my first time trying it but I dont think the filling (suppose to be cream) is suppose to taste and feel chalky. I literally had to BITE through it like it was chalk, never happened before, maybe this bread was from two days ago? I don’t know, odd for a 85 bakery.

Comment: While waiting for my drinks, right before closing i witnessed two mexican guys at the register, trying to order coffee just to be told by an employee wearing a black shirt that they ran out of coffee and that they were closed when 1 minute before they sold coffe to the person before them. The two men paid for their items and left, and the employee started laughing, and then the employee sold coffee to the next person after them. Very disappointing

Comment: The foods great, but the service could be better. The guy who took my order was terribly inconsiderate. We had been waiting a while outside for our drink when it started drizzling. We kept looking inside to consider following up on our order but, since the same guy kept staring right back without any hint of emotion or sign that it was done, we figured they were still making the boba. So when the guy walked out and past us without so much as a glance, I was baffled. I went in, only to find that our drink was READY and he just hadnt bothered to let us know. If perhaps he did, and I was only too deaf to hear it, HE COULDVE REPEATED IT. He very well knew what we were waiting for; the place barely had any other customers then.Regardless of what reasons he might have had for the attitude, I dont see how personal issues should mix in with how he treats customers. The service is discouraging, not sure I wanna go back anymore.

Comment: I love 85c, but i do not love this location. The bun selection is always lacking. Today there wasnt a single savory bun available and its the 3rd time in a row in the past month ive come and there are once again no milk pudding buns. Its the closest one to my home which is 45 minutes away, and i hate that i dont have an easy way to know if they will actually have the buns i like, available that day.

Comment: They love brioche and I love the desserts they make with it. Up until recently my favorite thing on their menu was the Berrytale...and has been for the past 5 years. Its basically berry jelly and cream cheese in a brioche bun and wow is it delicious! Well, they have a new dessert brioche roll called the Hokkaido custard bun. I would describe it as a brioche cream puff, but it kind of has a tres leches cake flavor to it. Soooo....thats what Ill be going back for next time because its as good as it sounds.Dont shy away from their drinks. They are on par with the brioche rolls. Weve tried a few like the salted caramel series, the usual Taro smoothie with boba, and most recent the Mango Strawberry smoothie which tastes like a strawberry shortcake drink. Definitely try this place.

And the week before Christmas they were also out of utensils. They sell cake slices and no utensils 2 weeks prior to xmas?! What!$@#?The drinks that we did get were watered down and were not good at all.We only went back for the pastries.3 🌟 for pastries, Andy and Andrew.We stopped going there after four weeks and went to the one on Balboa.

For just a couple dollars you can get some exquisite pastries that are replicas of some traditional pastries and Im not sure what the background of this place is but its some incredible classic style pastries. They are beautiful. They are constantly rolled out fresh. I do think the coffee is quite expensive and Ive never tried it cause I dont really drink that much coffee but the pastries are a value there is always a line here this is a very highly recommended place to try if you want just a special dessert and its very affordable. I asked for Milk Tea (without checking the entire menu because I already knew what to order), and then proceeded with light ice, boba, and whipped cream but w/ the sea salt kind if you have it. First, the cashier said non-verbatim, oh you mean the Boba Milk Tea? because what you said is so much and to simplify, in like a very condescending manner. I was confused because why would they put Boba Milk Tea (when I found out there was Boba Milk Tea not right next to the Milk Tea as well as in the add-ons section of the menu there was boba so I said what I felt was logical based on what I saw on the menu). Second, I asked for whipped cream (because that was on the add-ons section) but do you have something with sea salt? and he said non-verbatim, oh we do have Sea-salt cream cheese and sea salt something, and I said, ok ill get the cream crease kind, and he still asked, its not whipped cream though. Like dont they get it right away 🥲. And lastly, he asked where I wanted my sea-salt but should be understood since I ordered it as an add-on on a single drink, and the way the menu is set up is in like a two-part V-shape around a wall and I glanced at the others on the menu when I was on the cashier, and there were drinks with sea-salt but sea-salt was an option based on the cashier tell me **it was implicitly** by asking me questions, and it wasnt on the add-ons section on the menu as well 😅 I dont know, but during this very warm weather I just wanted to get my drink and enjoy having a refreshment myself, but it made my experience with the product and my afternoon uncomfortable 🥲

Comment: I know things have changed since Covid and this is a smaller cafe compared to some outside the mall but it seems like some of our favorites are no longer available. Employees are always nice and there is usually a long line to get in. Just depends on what were in the mood for. Definitely worth stopping by though. Pasteries and coffee are always yummy.

Comment: This is the closest 85° by my work so its quite convenient. Currently they only allow two people at a time to come into the store durle to covid restrictions. I was looking for one of their cases but they ran out in the store. However, the lovely girl went all the way to their kitchen and grabbed one for me. I really commend her effort and that action alone was very thoughtful and will bring customers back again and again. The cakes were delicious.

Comment: I’ve been heree multiple times and this place has a gReat selection of pastries and buns. You also get coffee and bubble tea here. I’ve tried the pork buns, the mushroom bun, the bacon and cheese and the chEddar cheese buns. The milk bun is my favorite. Even the chocolate mousse cake is great. I got all the stuff I mentioned above for 13$ which is amazing!

Comment: I typically enjoy the pastries at 85C. Today decided to try the Mango Coconut pearl drink. Apparently asking for less ice is not an option. Fine! Asked for no ice. They diluted the drink with water to save. Really bad decision. I understand some of the drinks are more expensive and I expect them to have multiple pricing if needed, but providing a bad drink for close to $5 is not acceptable. I will probably never try the drinks at this location in the future. Other options in the area are available. Nevertheless the pastries are consistent and fresh.

Comment: Everything Ive tried here is delicious and fresh, and the breads that Ive taken home to try later hold up well for as long as Ive tried to keep them (within 36 hours, Ive never tried longer than that). Im giving this location 4 stars instead of 5, though, because Ive seen it overrun with boisterous mall rat teenagers that cut in line and are rude to other customers. It feels a bit unfair to dock a star from the bakery for something that isnt directly its fault, but this does diminish the customer experience nonetheless.

It is obvious that this store needs more staff, especially to prepare the drinks. Their Sea Salt Coffee is an insult to the taste buds and way too salty.The worst thing, however, is this chains’ excessive use of plastic bags. They literally pack every little pastry in a separate plastic bag.

Comment: They open at 9am. I got there at 10:30 and almost all the shelves were empty. I asked them if they had any bread coming out and they said probably around 11 because they bake it fresh every morning. So they are open 2 hours with no food available. When I worked at subway we didnt start serving customers until 7, but I had to be there at 5am to start prepping food so it would be ready when we opened. 1 star for dumb management.

Comment: The store is really small. They shouldve bought a bigger space. Hopefully theyll expand because its been really crowded when Ive gone in the evening, and its the only bakery at the mall (I think) so itll probably stay that way. The popular items go quick. The 85 in Clairemont has a bigger selection and its less crowded, so Id recommend going there if its convenient. Otherwise, its still 85 so this one is still good
