Comment: I would have given 5 stars, but this shop always has a supply issue. Monday evenings, most of the shelves will be empty. If you need a full cake, you better pre-order a day before. Many days, you may not find the cake you wanted. The milk bread will run out quickly. So call them to have it reserved for you. Other than supply issues, it has tasty products, and service is good as well.

Comment: This is the 2nd time I used their app to order takeout coffee and encountered the same problem that my order had never been made ready when I checked in. I asked the barista then found out that the order was in the system but he got no notification nor the print out order. He also said his manager knew about this problem for a long time ago and had reported it to the corporate office but they havent fixed it. Its sad because they had put so much time & effort into creating a nice app. but the final result is nothing, not to mention the frustration of customers.

Ended up coming down with illness after illness. High fever, stomach flu, head cold, the most ungodly cough followed by strep throat and pink eye. Genuinely never been so sick in my life. I am on day 12 and finally feeling somewhat recovered. I know that it is winter and sicknesses are at an all time high during this time of year but I am almost certain that those disgusting worms in that pastry were the cause of it. Run!!!

Comment: I’ve been visiting this 85c for years and we just went to order one Bday cake for my daughter. She loves one of the opera cake with snowman decoration on it so I went to order it. Normally when I purchase a whole cake the staff always brings freshly baked cakes from their kitchen but this time I wasthe only opera cake left was the one displayed in their counter. However, I have already seen about 6 cakes were almost ready in their kitchen (one girl was decorating the snowman and other stuff at that time) so I asked if I could just paid and picked up later.(the cashier told me those cakes need another 1 hour to be sold) So I just paid for it and when I was waiting I asked another staff if I could just picked up one cake since they were almost done(I saw three of them were completely done decorating) The other staff so brought me my cake and told me I need to wait another two hours to eat the cake. Ok I am not professional baker so I’m not sure why you need to wait another two hours to eat the cake, but based on my research opera cake is good to eat after the final layer of ganache. And when I was home the cake I got was not those ones done decorating, the cute snowman, which my daughter was most excited for, was not on the cake. I’m 100% sure some of the cakes are already done doctorated with the snowman. I’m not always give bad reviews actually this might be the time for me. Such a shame on these liars! So very disappointed!!

My boyfriend and I always stop by if we are in the area to pick up some bread and drinks to take home.I would recommend going early on in the day/afternoon as the bread selection thins out as the day goes on. I especially love their various breads with custard filling and the caramel pudding! They also have savory bread options like curry breads and one with ham, cheese, hot dogs, etc. All the bread choices are individually wrapped, and you just place whatever items you want on a tray to bring to check out.As far as their drinks go, my go-to is the red grapefruit green tea, and you can choose various add-ins for you drink like boba or lychee jelly.10/10 would recommend stopping by for their delicious breads, cute desserts, and refreshing drinks.

And the prices are very affordable 👌 the only reason why Im not giving it a full 5 stars is because this location had very little selection in my opinion. I had the mango Creme brulee slice of cake it was very uneventful not flavorful as the name makes it sound like it will be. A lot of the same flavors were just displayed all around. Not a lot of variety. Also, there werent tags in many of the displays, so I had to guess what I was grabbing. Other than that, the service was great!

Its never busy when I go, but Ive only gone here during off hours on the weekday. Im sure its busy on the weekends.I absolutely love their sea salt iced coffee. Love most of their pastries too. Their cakes are great and Asian style so theyre not too sweet. They always have some ready if you need to buy one last minute.Service is friendly and quick here. The chocolate banana Square cake was very bland, the banana flavor is kinda wired with the creamy chocolate, I don’t recommend this at all. The boba is fine. The experience there was unpleasant, I was waiting for the restroom for over 5 minutes and then there was a customer told me that I have to ask for a key. But why the staffs don’t tell me while I’m sure they saw I’m waiting for the bathroom. Also there was no napkins and folks at the store, I had to wait to ask for that. And they don’t have the napkins and gave me a piece of paper towel. It’s kind of weird experience.

One recommendation I have for those buying cakes is to leave it out a couple of hours. We bought ours home and when we cut into it after an hour of festivities, it was all frozen and hard on the inside. Because it was not thawed, it was very dry. It was not an ice cream cake. I only say this comparing this location to the one on Balboa, which appears to be doing well without any of the following problems:-They have removed the cooler and stopped selling prefilled thai/milk tea bottles, misc cakes. The Balboa location is still selling them.-The quality of bbaked goods has gone down. I just had the jalapeno and cream cheese bread and their was raw dough, which I never experienced before.- Even after removing a few pastries like the egg tarts and a few others, quality is not what it used to be. Several selections today appeared to be burnt. Cookie was definitely overcooked.Doesnt make sense with 90% of the platform is baked goods.

Comment: NOT A FAN 🤬. The second to last time I went there, which was before the pandemic, I bought their full sized mango cake. That was disappointing, the mango cream was too sweet and the cake you can taste as obviously dry, but it was a interesting experience picking up the bread like a buffet. I went to go pick up a full sized mothers day sweet strawberry cream yesterday. They didnt have option to order online, so I ordered the cake on the phone they didnt ask for my email to sent the receipt, they asked my phone number but still didnt send me the receipt. I wish they had a separate entrance or like a smaller line for those who ordered ahead but no everyone stood in the same line, of ten or more people, what is the point of me waiting again of I ordered ahead? When I got in The staff were pretty rude two people asked me If I had a receipt twice, even after I explained twice to each of them how I ordered a cake with them, paid for it on the phone, and they didnt send me a receipt. They had a really annoyed look on their face, I had a reservation that was 30 minutes away until I stood in a 20 minute line I asked them Hey, can you hurry up? I have a reservation in like 10 minutes, They finally dragged themselves into the back and indeed they found my cake with a paid sign on it, and they asked if it was my name, and it was. The end result I missed my lunch reservation and the restraunt was overbooked for the day. I had to find another restraunt which wasnt overbooked since every where we went yesterday all the restraunts were overbooked, when I got there I finally noticed, I asked the 85° Degrees Bakery people, to add in a extra white chocolate piece that says Happy 18th mothers day on top of the cake, instead they shoved it to the side on a plastic bag instead of putting it on the cake where it would be melted since it would shared the cakes coldness. So at the end of the day they made me pay $33 for a drier than hell cake, which was packed with over sweetness, and chocolate piece that was super closed to melting If I hadnt noticed. I literally threw up for twenty minutes after eating only two bites of the cake. Oh ya, the whipped cream? That tasted like blobs of air, no sweetness just white blobs of air. Anyways, I am seriously disappointed and you better believe I am not coming back! 😡🤬😡🤬.

Comment: A decent selection, although they can probably have more. During COVID, you stand outside until someone lets you in. As soon as you enter you grab a tray and a set of tongs and let your eyes (stomach) do the picking. Everything is already individually packaged, so once you are done they simply transfer your items into a box or bag. Since the dinning area is closed, you figure they would re-do the line at the registers. They have the space, so they should zig-zag it a little better. Leave the front a little less cluttered. Also, since we are touching trays/tongs, the door monitor should also ensure patrons apply hand sanitizer. Oh well. Pastries are still great, and Mondays they usually have some drink special. So if you were gonna visit, I would recommend coming on a Monday. ;)

Classic favorites like cinnamon twists and chocolate buns as well as more adventurous pasteries like the Hawaiian Sriracha Chicken tart make this a crowd pleaser. Clean family restrooms make up for the slightly less hygeinic dining area. The tables werent slimey or anything, but because its a bus-your-own table, there were some napkins and crumbs on our table. No biggie! The sea salt teas are delicious just like everything else! Try the mango custard bun for a treat thats sweet but wont hurt your teeth!!

Each ingredient is in perfect quantity though, and I could easily have devoured the entire cake in one sitting. All the baked goods Ive tried here have been either dry or lacking in flavor or both. Their cakes are particularly overpriced and of poor quality. One in particular was the mango cake. Its beautiful, topped with fresh mango and covered with mango frosting. But for $35 the cake and frosting are pretty tasteless and the fresh mangos are unripe, hard, and sour. My recommendation is to spend your money somewhere else.

The inside is really nice and bright with pretty nice seating. However it can be hard to find seating a lot of the time since the place is always crowded. It is a good hangout spot so i do get it...but a lot of the times the seating is taken even during off hours.My mom loves coming here for their coffee and mango creme brulee slice, while I myself enjoy the variety of pastries and breads they carry. The kids/employees working there are all very nice, quick, and super helpful most of the time.They do tend to run out of a lot of their breafs and pastries easily though. Like sometimes Ill go in around 1-2 pm and theyll be out of 80% of that days offerings.

I say low key, because all my friends are like oh lets go to 85 for the bread or oh I want boba lets go to 85 but then they also have pastries which taste really good if you want a pastry. Like theres cheesecakes and other cakes and its lovely.Im honestly not a fan of their drinks (sorry) but still 5 stars for bread and pastries. Its also usually pretty quick, compared to other 85 degrees locations Ive been to. Or maybe Ive just been lucky...

Comment: I dont understand all the hype about this place, there was nothing special about it. It was actually very disappointing. If youre going for looks then its great hence a star but if you value taste more, I suggest going to a different place. The price is competitive (an extra start) but there are better places. Their mango mouse had a very synthetic after taste, like they used a powdered juice instead of real mangoes for flavoring and i could not finish it. Their chocolate mouse was made with store bought chocolate syrup and topped with ferrero roche chocolate and the middle had maraschino cherry and what tasted like the thickened liquid where the cherries marinated in (smh). Both mousse was not airy enough thus making the texture suffer, it was almost like fudge. Vons could do it better. The coconut filled bread topped with almond was a bit dry but the filling makes up for the dryness. I could not imagine tasting the other nonfilled bread. Speaking of fillings, the filling on the cheese cake was great but there was too much crust. If you make pie dessert bite size, you might consider putting a thinner layer of crust. The egg pie was great but just like the cheese cake. There was too much crust. As for the drinks, I had to wait 20 minutes for, it was nothing great. I hate to say this but, Starbucks can make the salted caramel coffee better. Once again, what is all the hype about?

Comment: Fresh Bread! Im glad they opened one near my place since the other location on balboa mesa gets crowded. The quality of the bread is similar to the main branch and the service of the employees is amazing. The only problem I have is that the drinks arent consistent like others mentioned. I generally come to 85C for the Mountain Green Tea and its been hit or miss the past few times I came here. Im hoping after they get settled the drinks will be consistent. Also for those that dont know what to get I would recommend either the Mango or Berry tale for bread and the drink I mentioned earlier.The drink accuracy went down as well during busy hours. So if you add extras to you drink make sure to check before you leave the register.

Comment: I was here on July 13, 2017 at around 13:30 after shopping nearby Target. My friends decided to order some bakery goods and 3 Large Ice Sea Salt Coffee. Several years ago, I would make trips up north to OC and LA. The Irvine location of 85C Bakery cafe was always the spot. It is nice that they finally brought it here to several locations in San Diego. I will be honest though that some of my friends stop going to road trip and up to Irvine because they decided to open up several locations in San Diego. Thanks globalization.For those of you who have never been to 85C bakery cafe, you come in, grab a tray, and start picking your bakery goods. They can be priced anywhere from $1.50 to $3 range. In terms of food taste, some of their bakeries are good, some are okay, and the rest are forgettable.They have good selection of drink. Drinks prices range from $3 to $5ish. Today, I chose the sea salt coffee. It was good, but I think a bit salty to me. I feel like the one at Irvine made it better. There was cream at that location when they first made it. Surprisingly, this kept me awake until 330 the next day though. The tart that I had was great. I do not know how to describe, but it was not bad, but good.The service is good. Workers yell out fresh bread every time a new set is cooked. When I went to pay, the cashier was polite and rang out order. The wait for the drink can be a little while, but it was busy. I say about a little more than 5 minutes. The store looks spacious, but it does not look like it has that many tables and chairs. Parking is easy to find.TL;DR: The sea salt coffee was good and the tart was great. However, I feel that the location at Irvine is better, both in foot traffic and the quality of the food. Still do come here to try it, but to me I will still make that drive to Irvines 85C.

My favorites include the salted butter bread, boroh bread, taro buns and brioches. It can be hard finding the one you want because they are so popular but it is hard to go wrong with any of the selections. Parking is plentiful.

Avoid rush times, and mornings are usually good except weekends, which tend to have people buying extra large amounts. Comment: Every time I have to go to target, I make the mandatory stop at 85 Degrees.Every time I tell myself Ill just get one of two breads, but I fill a box.Every time I go I get one more loaf of marbled taro bread than I did the last time. If you have not tried said bread, DO IT. Comment: This was my first visit to 85C and it didnt disappoint me at all. The place seems to be busy at all times of the day. The parking lot is large! Staff is friendly and attentive, mostly are college students. The breads here are very soft and fresh as usual. The price for the breads are at around $3. The staff keep stocking the the items. Ambiance is good too with large, open windows and nice table and chair.In short, this place is super cheap and super quick!!

I using get the hokkaido cheese tart (tastes like cheesecake), the egg tart (not as creamy as cheesecake but still good), and the taiwanese brioche bread (sweet bread). If youre not sure about something there is always someone to ask. Heads up, it gets crowded during peak times and you may have to wait outside to be let in!

Comment: New store, which is nice because its a lot closer to me than the other one. Overall it is what you would expect from 85degrees. The checkout line needs to be rethought. I dont like how it splits into 3 lines, Perfer the other San Diego location where the line is a single one that feeds into the registers. The taro options were delicious (marblo taro, taro cream cake, and the other taro cake).
