I also got a fresh chocolate croissant and a flakey milky bun for brunch tomorrow. All 3 items together were just $6.93 out the door, such great value! Highly recommend 85C Bakery.

Comment: They have the best (in my opinion) iced matcha latte with salted cold foam cream. I get mine with ZERO added sugar ( other than the foam), and its really good. The pastries are so soft and fresh, with various filling like custard, mango, matcha, red bean ( my favorite) jalapeño and cream cheese, etc. Beautiful whole cakes and desserts, too. Lots of drink options: teas, coffee, boba, dairy alternatives. The prices are spectacular! Hopefully, they hire more people soon because there is always a line, but it goes pretty fast.

They promised that they will order small boxes and put 2 bread in one box for us to distribute to each senior one box. I went into the store to pay and they wrote down everything on the pick up receipt. When the volunteer went there on Dec 14 for pick up. All breads were packed in big boxes and they even do not help to load into the car. Very arrogantly and poor service. Will never shop there again!

The place is so small, you have to wait in a very slow moving line with 10 other ppl in a congested tiny room. Unfortunately, I became unable to attend myself, but everyone was so impressed with the beautiful and delicious cakes my husband picked up. Fortunately, our family was able send us the leftovers after the gathering. We enjoyed trying the Coffee Brulee, Deluxe Chocolate Mousse, Deluxe Strawberry Cream, and Mango Brulee cakes. Everything was delicious. Only two small things marred the experience: I had ordered the patriotic version of the strawberry cake, but I just got the standard version. (They were the same price.) Probably the website should have been modified not to allow customers to order that cake for pick up after the 4th. Also, the Coffee Brulee cake was a little dry, especially compared the the moist fluffiness of the other cakes, but it was still delicious.

Comment: I loved this place when it first opened. Its still tasty, but theyve raised their prices and taken away their boba drinks. Also, they dont have good descriptive notes about what the items are, so you dont always know what youre getting. And i know its hard to keep fresh food away from bugs, but i often see flies in their cases. They also waste a lot of plastic bags by individually bagging each pastry separately. I wish they would find a better solution. Maybe wax paper separators? I still like some of their items enough to stop by when Im in the neighborhood, but not to make a separate trip.

Comment: The founder of 85°C Bakery Cafe, Cheng Hsueh Wu, wanted to provide high quality coffee, bread, and cake at an affordable price and I have to say, he doesn’t disappoint. 85°C is a wonderful bakery considering the comforting atmosphere, pleasing customer service, and delicious confections. I visited this location back in June 2018, and it was great weather to enjoy an Iced Hazelnut Latte with a Mangotale while sitting under the umbrella covered tables outside the cafe. My all time favorite bread would be the Brioche because of the soft, fluffy texture and light sweetness; but I like to try something different every time I stop by. The best time to visit is in the midmorning so that you can avoid the traffic but also enjoy fresh bread since the chefs bring a new batch out the kitchen routinely. The only down side to this is you might miss out on a particular product or have to wait for the new batch to finish baking. The staff are very accommodating; once when I went in with my two children to grab a big order, they offered to hold onto my box while I took my kids to the restroom and even ask if I needed help bringing it to my car. I definitely make it a priority to stop by here whenever Im in the area. I hope that this review helps and that you have a great experience at this bakery like I did.

Everything looked so delicious and it was hard to decide what to get. We ordered a sweet cheese mini pie, pastry bun with red bean inside of it, another bun with a sweet custard.Unfortunately I can’t tell you what any of these were called but I will say they were so delicious. Comment: I dont think the pastries or the drinks here are good. I would say 85 Degrees is overrated. Also whoever thought of the customer flow should not be in business. It is so confusing. Moreover, the entire store is just not efficient. Cashiers take forever dining up customers and individually bagging pastries that are bland.

Comment: And Asian type of bakery, setup cafeteria style. You walk in and get a tray, white paper for the tray, and tongs. Then you go around to the bins and collect whatever pastries you want, most of which are labeled. Then you get in line to pay, where you can also order a drink (coffee, milk tea, bubble tea type drinks, etc). There are more options on the other side of the line and register in a display case of fancier desserts, so be sure to have a look before you get in line. It was clean and organized. The labels on the bins and the name and price along with allergy info, but didnt include any more of a description of what things were. Some of it is obvious, but other things you may be in for a surprise.

Comment: Ate the chicken and pineapple pastry, spicy sausage, hot dog pastry, and an 85C iced coffee. One of the four gave me food poisoning. 5 hours after eating, had diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and stomach pain.Two starts because even though im dying right now, it was still delicious. More than likely, either the chicken wasnt thoroughly cooked and didnt hit an internal temp of 165F or it wasnt kept at a correct temp because the pastry crust was very soft, or the milk went above the 40F for too long which caused bacteria growth.

Nice place to hang out and hide from the sun if you need to kill a couple of hours. This is a Taiwanese bakery so you can also find pineapple cake here which is awesome - saves me a trip to Taipei :)

Comment: Great Asian styled bread and drinks. This isnt your generic pastry and breads. They use different ingredients such as taro and red bean paste. They have this unique sea salt drinks that are definitely worth it. I love the taro bread, mangotale, coconut twist, and milk bread.The only downside is the customer service at times and how slow it can get . Ive gotten two of their pastries, one was the taro and the other was coffee, they were bland and dry, nothing spectacular. Their fresh bread is real deal.

The prices were great (1.50-$3) The savory chicken pastry I got was only $2. I pay more than that for a basic pastry at starbucks. They also have coffee and teas. The salted coffee selection is amazing. I had the salted caramel coffee. Trust me it is not like anything youve ever tried. It was very delicious.

Comment: Amazing variety of baked goods, some of them very interesting and unusual.We tried quite a few of them and I brought some home for the kids, which is always the best measure for such goodies. The unanimous decision of the teens was... average. The breads, rolls and croissants continued to lay on the kitchen counter top until the Trader Joes cookies were finished. Then, they hesitantly and slowly ate them.Likewise, an enthusiast in our office brings a box from 85C once in a while and it sits lonely in the kitchen unlike bagels and doughnuts.Bottom line is that its an interesting place to try but it wont be among my favorites.

Comment: Shame. im on the fence. i finally try this place that is in my neighborhood...with me across from it at vons several times a week, pretty much. i went in at like 7pm and missed some rush after us with zero line. looked around...decided on the mango panna cotta.it was so weird. i have no idea that flavor but it wasnt fresh mango. it tasted like some weird medicine, chalky fake and artificial who knows what. cant even tell you, but as i kept eating it delight is not the descriptor I would put on it. and it wasnt panna cotta texture; it was more like pudding. the mango wasnt very ripe either as it was hard and unflavorful. add insult to injury...we had to eat it with a fork...as they dont carry spoons apparently. have you ever eaten pudding with a fork? because its not fun, nor very successful toward the end.case of ordering wrong? maybe. people seem to love this place. and not that i expect free things but where was this free bread i heard about. no bread, weird medicine pudding. that is all.

Comment: This place finally calmed down after the initial craziness of the grand opening. It is what it is, and theyre worth a try to see if you like the breads here. Unlike smaller chains that might specialize in something interesting, 85 degrees strikes me as a lowest-common-denominator type of large-chain-bakery, serving reliable but uninteresting baked goods. Their cakes are good for people with Asian tastes, but in my experience Americans arent big fans.

Comment: Ive been to the Torrance and Irvine locations and this is pretty consistent in cleanliness and taste. Ive heard that there are usually lines out the door, but Ive never personally seen them.The selection here does not have they same amount of variety as the other locations, but they make it up in quantity.There are two sides, the bakery side and the drink/cake side. If you just want a drink, go to the left, if you want a pastry use the door on the right.

Comment: If there was one down the street from where I live, I would literally go here everyday just for the ICED SEA SALT CARAMEL COFFEE. You could have a large iced coffee at a cheap price and its pure coffee goodness with a sweet side. Their teas are great. My favorite is the PEACH GREEN TEA. Baked pastries and cakes are delicious. Glad they were able to have a franchise down here in San Diego. Interior is clean and there is also table and chairs inside and outside to enjoy some coffee and bread before getting to your errands.

Comment: Love going here for their Sea Salt Mountain Green tea. That stuff is so addicting. Looks strange at first cause the foam, but trust me try it. I dont have a huge sweet tooth so those super sugary boba drinks dont appeal to me much. The parties are good too, but dont get too greedy as they last maybe a day or so. After that they dont taste as fresh anymore so only load up on as much as you can eat for a day or so.

I usually buy four of them everytime I go. $2 each. Great for breakfast and snacks! My friends say I look like a squirrel when I nibble on them cautiously...because I dont want to the snacking experience to end so soon!Fun environment.Everytime a fresh batch of baked goods are coming out the bakers yell out FRESH BREADS. Comment: I was so excited to try 85°C Bakery Cafe because of all the good things i hear about it but at my visit my experience was just a-ok. First off you have to like bread baked goods, which i do but not everyone does and when they think cafe they think cakes and sweets. Which they do have but its not their specialty. Which brings me to my a-ok rating. Their specialty is bread and yet its not as tasty as i would like it.First off, each of their goods are not labeled or are poorly labeled. They have no organization and youll see the same baked good from one corner of the room to the next five shelves. Please keep each type together especially if there are no labels so that your patrons can see everything you can offer. Instead of the illusion that there are a lot of options. Second, keep your goods fresh. Some of the items (especially the egg tart) seem like theyve been sitting there for days. I did enjoy their other items (guava bread, mango roll bun, and cream puffs).Basically if you like Paris Baguette, Pangea, and other Asian bakeries then you will also like this place. Although, other bakeries seem to be to me more flavorful and a better shopping/dining experience.

Comment: Unlike other bakeries, 85 has their baked goods already on the floor. Simply enter the front door, pick up a tray and tongs, and choose as many baked goods until you think you have had your fill. The line can get a bit overwhelming from time to time, but for what comes next was worth it. They will also wrap all your baked selections as you make your way to the regester, as if you were taking all items to go. In addition, the baked goods they have out may vary in each of your visit(s). Been here 3+ times and see something new to try each time.And of course if you are looking for sweets 85 will have a good variety of cakes and teas. One of their top drinks the frozen marble taro instantly got me hooked. I have tried others, but it is so hard to pass that one up. Best frozen taro I have had in San Diego.Great place to pick up a few items for a party! If you have a sweet tooth or want more of the bitter baked goods, 85 has it.

Comment: Great bakery. They just recently had their San Diego Grand opening a few weeks ago, so the hype is still there - along with the LONG lines, which can reach 30 min to an hour. I would definitely recommend going at 7AM or even 8AM to avoid the wait. My recommendations would be the Berrytale, which is a pastry filled with blueberry cream cheese topped off with blueberry jam and their sea salt coffee. You cant go wrong with those two.I also got word that you can call the bakery and place an order 24hrs ahead so that you can pick up the treats and be on your way. Nevertheless, go try this place out!

Comment: This bakery just opened up just down the road from us. We went twice in the first weekend it was opened, and the lines were massive, which speaks to how good this place is. However, be prepared to wait. There are actually two lines, depending on whether or not you want their baked goods or if you want drinks & cakes. The long line on the right is for their baked goods (breads and rolls). If you go into the left door, there is a much shorter line where you order drinks and prepared cakes and sweets. After waiting in the long line we decided we didnt need or want any baked breads so we headed over to the shorter line and ordered a sea salt iced coffee, coffee creme brûlée and mango panna cotta. Needless to say, we devoured the drinks and desserts. They were amazing, so good in fact that we returned the very next day. While I dont know if there line will ever be short enough for their baked goods (I dont typically eat bread anyway) I truly love the drinks and cakes and will be returning on a regular basis.
